I think he decided to play with them because he is from Detroit. They are rebuilding and he knows he can play right now. Another food for thought is that this is the first time that this has ever happened to him and really, he knows that he is not going to get a big contract (in "Over 30 yrs old" terms) until he proves he can stay on the field and that he has something to bring.

I think injuries and age just caught up with Jansen, the guy was tough as nails but there just comes a time when you can't get it done, and that time in our division comes sooner than others. If he was in the AFC things might be different.
