It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if we go after him. Snyder has already let it be know he want to make a splash at the QB position by going after Cutler and Sanchez. I bet we start hearing rumors soon. Vick already has Clinton’s endorsement. I can a scenario where we sign him to the practice squad let him travel with the team, gauge the reaction, let haters have there say and let him compete in 2010 or late 09.

Vick is not very effective as a quarterback... however, imagine him in an offense built to include the wildcat. He would be absolutely perfect in that role. He can throw, he is stil among the fastest talents around, and he would probably also make a heck of receiver.
Somebody will bite on this when the NFL does reinstate him... and it will reinstate him.

Even as a dog owner and someone who contributes regularly to the shelter that rescued the Vick dogs, I also found the reaction to be more akin to a lynch mob than actual justice.
This is unfortunately a very polarizing issue because it involves dogs that many perceive as pets - these dogs were NOT pets but because of how they were treated and the manner in which Vick handled the situation, the whole thing blew up on him and may in fact have been a little overblown but again that was primarily because he did not handle anything very well OR he was given some really bad advice on damage control.
When compared to what some other athletes have done and then managed their "image" through the media, Vick's treatment seems a little harsh but then again - Vick did not acknowledge any wrong doing initially, and even denied it for a long time and that all conspired against him IMHO
While I would like to see him out of the NFL, I think Vick will be allowed back in but I would be very surprised if Snyder would even consider him to be a part of this team - we shall see
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
could bring him in as a change of pace back with trick play capabilities. As a qb he has even less touch than Campbell and is considerably less accurate. So that won't work unless he scrambles every play.

I agree. He would make for a heckuva RB who sometimes throws versus a full-time QB with scrambling capabilities.
Of course, I wouldn't necessarily want him with the Redskins...

well... when a person is convicted of a felony, even after they get out, they cant vote and cant own a gun. their debt is paid but they are forever marked as an excon. job applications ask 'have you ever been convicted of a felony'. in that same way, when vick becomes eligible for NFL reinstatment i hope people dont lose sight of his mental problems because of his athletic talent.
people that torture animals have a screw loose and maybe with psych work they can behave like adults but i dont count prison as beneficial to ones psyche. if anything, vick is coming out of prison more angry and crazier than ever.

Completely agree. This guy obviously has problems. If you can watch a dog fight and not throw up or not feel like a disgusting monster than you have problems. He has been thinking what he was doing was right since he was young, so how do we know after all these years, only a year and a half(?) in prison is going to change his mind set. He is not someone I would want on my team.

I agree. He has paid a price and it will haunt him for many years. He is really sick. I have heard stories where people feed their fighting dogs gun powder just to make them mean. I have 2 Labs and I even think chaining your dog to a tree is mean unless its for s short spell. I know they are just dogs but what these people did was extremely sick. I hope he has learned his lesson and hooks up with the Cowboys where most of the other criminals play.

Which he basically does on every play. It's not so much the scrambling that intrigues me as it is his ability to buy time and let a receiver get open. In the NFC East that's a nice skill to have.
The fact that he can also take off for a 60-yard touchdown run ain't all that bad, either. . .

$200-$250 a week? He could make more bagging groceries. Why would anyone take that deal? The Raiders will offer him vet minimum, I bet.
AS LONG AS HE IS NOT IN A SKINS UNI.....
sry for caps...not yelling
You guys wouldn't want Vick here?
no i dont and here is why.....
1) no matter where he goes he will be a media nightmare, it will be a zoo. not to forget im sure animal rights groups and peta will be all over the complex and the games on sunday.....JC17 already has enough to work on without vick questions everyday and having to look over his shoulder
2) im sure it would be in his best interest to be playing football as far as possible from where this happend, and last i check DC is pretty close to VA, what i mean by this is that he had all of his "friends and cuz" involved and im sure he would be better off far away from all of them (im sure some of them are still in his life) and we all know that they will feed on that like sharks in the water (media) "mike, it is only a few hours car ride, do you still go home on your day off? who are you hanging out with, what are you doing there?"
3) you know if we were to sign him, it will be "danny up to his old tricks, and signing big names" im sick and tired of hear that the skins are the offseason champs again.....

Two 40pt games in a decade?? serious?? cant make up that sad fact!!
I am a dog owner myself. All though I hate to think how he tortured and killed those dogs, I do however think he has paid part of his debt to society. I want him to get another chance at the NFL, but at the same time he should have 10 years of charity work and community service to go along with it. That should be the stipulation. You get a chance to play in the NFL with a ten year commitment to charity and community services. Once a week he has to speak to youth and help feed starving children or people. It does not have to come out of his pocket. It will really help people get over the whole thing and it will be very rewarding.
I can't believe that anyone can even think about accepting him again just because he has served his jail sentence. I may be from an overly conservative area, but down here when you electrocute, drown, maim, and torture animals, you aren't a dude who gets a pat on the back and a thumbs up when you get out of jail.
Dear God, I hope you all don't let child rapists back in to society just because "they've served their debt to society".

"I said when he retired that Joe Gibbs was the best coach I'd ever faced." - Bill Parcells
Wow, now Michael Vick in on par with child rapists. You with the on call picketers if Vick gets reinstated?
I think I'll buy Vick jersey just to piss people off. Where is it written that once he's served his punishment he still must suffer.
How is it that you are above the law? How is anyone out there above the law. It was an animal, not a human. And no, animals do not have the same rights as humans.
He broke laws, served his sentence (or still serving) and when he's done, he done. Why does he have to pay for the rest of his life?

He broke laws, served his sentence (or still serving) and when he's done, he done.
The only point I'd make is that he is still serving his sentence, which is not done until his probation is complete in 3 years... Basically, this means that he is on a short leash... pun intended... If he so much as breathes in the wrong way, his probation can be revoked, and off he goes.
He has not "paid his due" until his probation is done.
Having said that, unless the Commissioner finds cause to maintain his suspension, let him play... [/i]

Exactly why I qualified it with present tense. And as long as NFL doesn't break the rules of his probation, let him play. It is his profession, after all.

Good points NJ-Skins, I agree 100% that he needs to get away from the South.
There's no sense in actually saying Vick this or Vick that.. comparing him to rapists/pedi's/murderers is just insane.. really. I'd rather live next to somone who killed dogs than to live next to someone who is a rapist/pedi/murderer.. just my opinion. Smithian, it appears you are saying Vick is the same as Manson or Bundy or one of them crazy folks who did crimes ON PEOPLE.
Back to football, I believe he'll end up somewhere up north or far from the south (like NJ-Skins said). Pittsburgh I think would take him.. with their FO the way it is and a young black head coach that maybe can relate to Vick, he would be on the straight path. Yes, I did mention black because lets be frank about it gents/ladies; I'm 95% sure Tomlin being black could relate more to Vick than lets say Cower. I just don't want Vick in the NFC East (unless he's a Skin) because its not like he was a great QB to begin with but I think he can still do some damage especially with built up frustration he may have and his legs are lethal.
I think that black white thing is just an excuse to justify racial prejudices. It's a professional relationship. They don't have to finish each other's sentences and want the same things for dinner, they have to be able to respect each other professionally.
It's not a racial issue if Micheal Vick didn't like the way Cowher ran his offense, it's a professional difference. It's not racial if Micheal Vick doesn't like Coawher because of the way he ran his offense.
The race card really does get old.

Dog fighting has nothing to do with black/white, its illegal and that's the fact.
Your looking too deep into what I said Vet.. I really do mean that Tomlin may know what its like dealing with certain things as a black man compared to a white man. Oh, and this is almost a fact, most older black men who speak with younger black men ususally do start the convo with this "don't act like I don't know what its like being...." Given that Vick is black, I'm almost sure Tomlin may have gone through similar things (not necessarily dog fighting) as Cower may not. And before you say it, yes I'm speculating, yes I don't know for sure, and yes i'm assuming. The same way I'd assume Vet that you couldn't walk down LP at night like I could.. the same way I'd assume the roles would be different if it was North Potomac.
So you have to be black coach to relate to a black player? That's the formula for success?
If you would have considered my whole post, you'd see I wasn't attacking your analogy specifically.
It matters not how conversations are started, it's the content of the conversation.
Just because I'm white (and I do like the way your assumptions by the way, furthering my point), it's assumed that a black player can't play under me b/c I don't 'know what they went thru.'
Honestly, it doesn't matter 'what they went thru.' If they can't separate 'what they've been thru' with the professional here and now, then maybe it's not the white coach's problem or the difference in race, it's the racial card being played.
Since we're on this subject, how did Tomlin get Big Ben to play for him? I mean, he didn't know what Big Ben went thru growing up. Or what about Troy. Troy's of Samoan descent, I mean, with Somoa, there's bound ot be things that Tomlin isn't aware of. How can they relate? How can they have a professional relationship since their childhoods weren't necessarily similar?

Dude, you got it man.. you got it. .i'm not even gonna go there anymore. I honestly wasn't talking about x and o's here, I was talking about a black coach talking to the guy as they may have had similar upbringings. X and O's are another thing in itself bro.. but you got it.
