Maybe he'll lay out Jacobs a few times this year for Landry 8)

I just listed to a quick Press Conference with Orakpo on Redskins.com. I'll tell you what, this kid sounds like he's got a good head on his shoulders. Sounds like he's ready to work and earn his spot. He doesn't care where he plays at on the field, he just wants to play. He didn't sound so scripted as other possible people who were linked to coming to Washington (uhhhh uhhhh Mark Sanchez) but just in general like a kid who's ready to work. He knew his stuff, regardless if he just studied the history, etc that there are legends in Charles Mann and Dex. Manley here. He said that he's going to get in touch with Haynesworth, Fletcher, Landry, Fletcher and Carter. So good to see that his first move it to get in contact with the Vets. I would love to have one workout session with Carter and Orakpo. They may have the lowest body fat % of any D End tandem in the NFL.

Orakpo apparently negotiated with Rob Jackson and he will wear #98 like he did in college.

I waited for that press conference, I had the link up and everything, it never came on! And .com is being extremely slow in posting it! What gives!

I could see him on the rt side. Isn't it always better to have your best pass rusher on the blind side?
The problem then is Carter might be too small for left.

That's exactly what I was referring to.

And a Madden 10 reference, they downgraded DeAngelo Hall to 68... bastards.

Might not mean anything but I did hear rumors of moving Carter to LB and moving Rocky to strong side. So moving Orakpo to right side could happen sometime in the future. Still leaves us with a problem at LDE but hey it could happen.

That's what I thought they might do since Carter has LB experience. He hates LB though. That would set up a sick pass rush, if they were both on the same side. I was thinking Carter would play strongside LB and sure up the pass rush from that side. There's so many different combinations of things they can do now with the D-line additions.

If Carter were to excel at LB, don't you think they would have experimented with it already?

I don't like it. Orakpo is big enough to play LDE. From the rave reviews, he has a chance to succeed over there and that's where I hope he goes. With the draft, it seems we'll b eplaying more base nickel than base 4-3 anyway since we drafted a CB as opposed to a LB. (/sarcasm, kinda)

All jokes aside, I like Carter Haynesworth, (insert rotation here), Orakpo for our line. Maybe Daniels/Griff can be 50/50 so we can stretch their health out. Montgomery can rotate with Haynesworth.

Blades didn't do bad @ LB and I thought Fincher surprised as well. No, they're not elite, but they were serviceable. Additionally, who knows what the new blood will do.

Kareem Moore started to come along towards the end of the year. That gives us the ability to run 3 safety sets. I like the versatility we have.

I'm really excited to see what our defense is going to do!

I would just like to add that while I am a little concerned about our offense, this defense is going to be a lot of fun to watch & might even help the aging offensive line by giving them better field position than they are used to & hopefully also not allowing many points - that could be important for the low scoring offense that we had last year
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

One of the things that jumped out at me when I watch tape on the guy is that he can run through holds. Anybody who's watched Carter the last few years knows that he can beat pretty much anybody around the corner and gets held 3 or 4 times a game at least. And it rarely gets called. When people try to hold Orakpo they get pulled to the ground.

I'm just excited. I keep thinking about getting to the qb without a blitz. When we do blitz watch out. We are going to confuse teams this year. This was what I envisioned last year with Taylor. Didn't work out. Now we have a huge upgrade at DT. I really think Grif is going to have his best year yet this year. I'm licking my chops thinking about Donovan McNabb and Tony Romo running for life and Orakpo on their heals. Honestly, this year we win at least 2 more game. Post season hopes are within grasp.
