Zorn, Danny, and Vinny stated that IF they draft a QB, It's still JC's job to lose. The new QB would have to beat out JC, and I don't think a rookie would be able to do that with Jason having a year in this system under his belt.
I don't understand why that would be a problem for Jason if HE believes in himself.
Most likely they are thinking about next year. JC's last year, its his "put up or shut up year". So, what do they do next year if he don't pan out? I think this is why they want to draft someone. If this is the case, All Jason has to do, is put up or shut up.
Sounds like he's pulling a Cutler. He's whinning. If he was sure he's can beat out another QB it would be a problem. I think this has been his problem from day 1. If he would just step up to the plate, and react in the pocket, without second quessing himself, he would be a great QB.
Maybe they were just trying to put pressure on him. And it's backfireing cause JC can't handle it.

I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.
ALL THAT SAID. I wouldn't have a problem with trading for Quinn. I think he would be a great fit, with his quick releace, and Zorn can mold him. They say they want to trade him. He has limited start in the NFL, but that's still more than a rookie would have, and they might could still draft a QB also.

This whole thing just makes me think of Joe Gibbs. In his day he would have dug his heals in and said this is my quarterback. If you agreed or not doesn't matter he stuck by his guns and seeing how he did win 3 bowls with 3 qbs you have to assume that he knew what he was doing. This would have never happened on his watch.

I was quite impressed with him watching him play against the RAvens. I like him too.

Phew that whole thing was over my head. You want to explain that in layman's terms?

You don't trade picks and move up in the draft to draft a QB who is going to "compete". Yopu draft him because you think he's your franchise QB.

The two things aren't mutually exclusive.
If they traded up for Sanchez I don't think they would start him right away no matter what. If they couldn't trade Campbell and he stayed it'd be an audition for his next contract while Sanchez learned and worked hard in practice.
It worked out great for Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco I guess but not a lot of teams are willing to play a rookie QB right away. (Of course maybe that's just what Joe Gibbs conditioned us to believe. Sitting did nothing for JC, who knows what might have happened if not for Brunell.)

Also, why with so many other holes to plug would you draft a QB who is going to "compete?" I would even buy the Mark Sanchez thing if they were able to deal J.Cam for something, but bringing them both in for the starting job seems to not only make the QB position messy but ignores the help needed at other positions.
Bruce has the authority. When Bruce makes the decision, it's a Redskins decision.

You are right, Joe Gibbs would have done that. He did his 2nd time around and we got Mark Brunell.

jason is whining for the sake of whining but desrves another shot, I say he wants out before he makes 20 completed 5 yard outs instead of firing away. As long as Sanchez gets the job then mediocrity will the answer to the offense wothout a doubt. maybe he is lobbying for the likes of crabtree or heyward-bay.
I love watching and waiting to see what the hecks going on.

that dline would be nasty and
A great way to bring along Brennan after all he would be J.Cambells competition, and even if Cambell preforms well on sundays they still need to sign him at the end of next year, I do not believe that will happen.
Because if i and many others are right then Los will have a big year at corner and we will resign Rogers, not to mention next years QB crop for the 2010 draft will be hot, and there plenty of possibilities to trade down next year ie Chris
ey ( as much as I hate to say it because we all know
ey is a favorite and I am not sure what the cap hit will be.)
If Cambell gets traded, and we don't get sanchez--- get the d-line or the o-line then we throw Brennen in and let it roll, but who knows what he is capable of out there.
I personally believe that Cambell stays and we draft an offensive lineman
and Cambell has a good year.

he seems to have all of the characteristics of a Zorn offense and Zorn seems to have the characteristics of a second year coach whos been around the NFL long enough to handle the team. he's areal take charge type of guy

Now that Matthew Stafford's new contract (with $41 million guarantee) is out, I think the pursuit of Mark Sanchez has definitely put Washington in a precarious situation. Decisions like this seamlessly effects the Redskins CAP space and inability to address positions of need are factors on why we are not viewed as one the power house teams of the 1980s and early 1990s. It is also what separates this FO with solid and stable organizations like New England, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh. I am truly not sold on Washington pursing Mark Sanchez. Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato are really playing this out like truly good poker players who will move up to address a position of need (OL/DE/OLB), or they are both solidified my view of them arrogant and ignorant. I choose the latter of the two.

JC needs to address this by playing better. And I say that as someone who thinks he is and should be our starter based on our current roster. But anyone who thinks anyone in the NFL doesn't need to CONSTANTLY defend his job much less that JC has locked up our starting QB job is trippin. Including JC.
Hail to the Redskins!

Why would that be? Welcome to both, the Board and our group of sensible and unbiased posters.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Ah ok, I did think the link was funny though... I never did see it only heard about it. You have to admit when Joe was here things weren't as crazy during the off season right? I will admit it certainly has been entertaining.

Are you sold now???
"the Danny" & hie lap dog stood at #13 and got a very good player that should produce in year one, yet if you look at what the Jets gave up (first-round draft pick (No. 17 overall), second-round draft pick (52nd overall) plus safety Abram Elam, quarterback Brett Ratliff and defensive end Kenyon Coleman), you have to think they were bidding against someone.
And welcome to the site

I dunno. I remember that LaVar-gate was on Gibbs' watch. I remember the Ramsey-Brunell QB controversy. I remember that the Redskins were the big spenders in FA when they got Griffin, Washington, and Springs in the same offseason...and then a few years later, the Skins spent on Archuleta, Lloyd, and Randle-El.
The quietest offseason we've had under Snyder was last year...not under Gibbs.

You know, I am so tired of this B.S. about Vinny being a "lap dog" and Snyder being greedy and stupid.
Dan Snyder is an incredibly shewed businessman and a billionaire. Vinny Cerrato is a veteran personnel man in football and he is HIGHLY decorated in his career. People need SOMEONE to blame for the past few years of ineptitude so they look to Vinny because he's Danny's right hand man but look what he's done for the Redskins in his 1 year and 2 drafts for the Skins.
He masterfully traded back in the 2008 draft for extra picks. He traded down from 21 and got the player we wanted in the first place while picking up two second round picks. We got two of the top wideouts in the draft and the best college tight end in the nation.
He also got a good prospect in Chad Rinehart, Justin Tryon, Kareem Moore, Colt Brennan and Chris Horton.
To be fair he also traded a 2nd round pick for Jason Taylor which didn't work out, but that was due to injuries more than managerial incompetence. Taylor had no such health problems to warn us and just played injured the whole season.
Then in this draft he stayed pat at #13 even though they wanted Sanchez and got the guy they wanted all along! Probably the best 4-3 end in the whole draft.
He's gone after low risk, high reward guys (Robert Thomas, Mike Williams and others). It might not seem like much, but it's a smart way to go about business in sports. The Red Sox did it in 2003 and look how it paid off.
Vinny also got us Albert Haynesworth, Derrick Dockery, Daniels and Wynn too.
If you look at his record as GM so far it's pretty rock solid. Once we finally start winning I hope people give the front office the credit they deserve. The last couple years the Redskins have actually been managed pretty well, which sure is rare.
