The question is, where will the Skins use him? There was talk they discussed moving to LB with the guy. Hmmm

Could not have worked out any better. GOOD FOR THE FRONT OFFICE...I think they finally got one very right

I was watching Todd McShay's video on Orakpo (I like him a lot more than Kiper) and he says that 4-3 DE is his best position in the NFL (of course he was lining up on the left side opposite the RT.)
McShay says that Orakpo could be contending for double digit sacks next season. Sure hope he's right.

I'm at work now... had to leave to take my break... flipped on Sirius NFL Radio just in time to hear the Denver pick, and when they went the way they did, my jaw just hit the ground... we were going to get Orakpo... whom I'm convinced is the player they wanted all along... but thought would not be availible.
The Redskins used less than a minute of their time to turn in the slip... they didn't think about it, didn't hesitate.
All I could do was scream...
YESSSSSSS!!!!!
The Redskins have a pass rush... whether he is standing, or has his hand on the ground.

I am just amazed that he fell to us - did you notice how quickly the guys got the pick in - we are very lucky we did not get out of this spot.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Couldn't agree more. Even though we had the 4th ranked defense last year, we were ranked 28th in sacks. Orakpo will get sacks and with the pressure he and Haynesworth will be applying, our secondary will be that much better at getting interceptions.

DEs almost never make a big impact their first year, unless they are the ybrid type like Shawn Merriman, Ware, or Kearse.
I love the pick, but don't expect him to be Mann or Manley his first year (heck don't even expect him to play as weel as Bruce Smith did his first year with the Skins.)

The only problem I have is his size, is he good enough to beat LT's?
Anyway, Todd McShay says he's a good bet to have double digit sacks this season, but even if he doesn't succeed right away I don't think the team is gonna make the playoffs next season, maybe year after next when we get hold of a QB.

I don't doubt what you're saying, but we did just invest a ton of money in Haynesworth this winter. I think that gives Orakpo a real advantage to be successful as a rookie.
Good pick. I am very pleased. I could have been happy with Oher too, but I think this one could be an immediate impact.

lol, come down off the post draft high already. We still have a LOT of work to do. We desperately need another LB. We are in pretty serious need of a OT, we could also use help at S, CB, QB, RB, G, C, etc.

I want depth at every position and for all the starters to be at least league average. OT, SLB, SS and possibly RG are not league average and we have NO depth at CB, RB or C.

Seriously though, you're a party pooper. We have 4 more picks to start filling the remaining holes. This was arguably our biggest flaw and don't forget about Chris Horton. I know he was an anomaly (sp?) but there is no reason that we can't find a potential 2009 starter at LB or OT in the 3rd round. Especially at RT, where I have heard there is enormous depth in the middle rounds. If you want to rain on my parade after tommorow, go ahead, but there is still plenty of "draft high" to be had....
