Sucks to be a Broncos fan

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Sucks to be a Broncos fan

Post by Skinsfan55 »

I live in Colorado, and people state wide LOVE the Denver Broncos, they have one of the most loyal fanbases I have ever seen...

That said, it sucks to be a fan right now.

They are switching to a 3-4 defense without the right personnel, their starting QB was mentioned in trade rumors (he's now furious, which kind of makes him a big baby IMO) and their star wide receiver has been arrested... again. (He may face a lengthy suspension.)

Ouch.

The Redskins are dysfunctional, but that takes it on to a whole other meaning.

But they just spent 7.2 million for a 35 year old safety and gave a 30 year old running back a five year deal. C'mon, you mean these moves won't puch them over the top?

If the Broncos really did test the market for Cutler they are idiots. I think he has a bright future in the NFL....

I live in Colorado as well but I believe the local media is making too much of this situation with Cutler. Also, I feel like most of their signings have been pretty good, Dawkins contract is really only a 2 year deal and his leadership alone is worth it for their terrible defense. The Andra' Davis signing i think will help, I liked the Hill signing as well and now the Jabar Gaffney singing looks much better since Brandon Marshall is about to be suspended. Cutler, while very talented, hasn't done much so far except put up good numbers on a team that hasn't had a defined running back to take carries and while he had a coach (Shanahan) who gave him fre reign to do as he pleases. He needs to keep quiet and prove his keep this year, IMHO.

I don't think that Jay Cutler is only furious with the fact that he was mentioned in trade rumors. I think he is furious with the team because they flat out lied to him about the whole situation. They said that they were contacted about this trade. I don't believe it at all. I know that the Broncos were trying to trade Cutler, and it didn't work out.

I'd take him straight up for J. Camp.

Same here. But this will be just said among friends. God knows, it would spark a 30 page thread otherwise. :-$

 Exactly. I think I heard that 6 of the 9 players signed by Denver this year in free agency are over 30 years of age.

Who's the coach there now? He must come from the Snyder / Cerrato coaching tree. Oh wait...

Jay Cutler just formally requested a trade. What a little baby. I can't believe that an NFL athlete would get this upset about trade rumors.

You start it... you can call it "The return of Jeff George".

Has Cutler begun his auto destruct sequence? He still has time to salvage it, but I don't know that he has the maturity. Frankly, I don't think that Zorn is the right coach for a young QB with a hot head, as he is not known for his diplomatic skills himself. His coaching would not be adjusted to spare Cutler's ego... and that would not be pretty.

My understanding is that he is upset about being lied to.

This is a really stupid, immature situation on both sides. First it was stupid for the Broncos to try to trade him, not because he is untradeable, but because they should try to keep this guy because without him they are not good at all. Then its stupid and really immature on Cutler's part because he wanted to be traded when his OC left but when they try to trade him he cries like a little girl. Then he is mad now because they wanted to trade him so he demands a trade? He is making him self look really dumb.

Agreed. New Head coach wanted a QB that knows his O. Cutler does not. If I was the Bronco's I would trade him to the Lions for both of their first round picks. Then sign a Garcia, and have him compete with Ramsey to be the starter. Simple solution for Denver, that potentially would help both teams in the long run. Just my 2 cents on the topic also.

I think this deal in the long run will be great for the Broncos. The team wont be as good with Cutler gone but Orton will still put up solid numbers. After todays trade it doesnt suck to be a Bronco fan.

I'd be stunned if Orton is their opening-day QB

Ill be stunned if Orton doesnt throw at least 25 TDs this year.

For who though? Not Denver if they have any sense. He's a marginally better QB than Simms but the Broncos just gave Simms $3m. I think Orton ends up elsewhere in trade for picks as Denver tries to move up the board and gets a QB who can throw longer than 13 yds.

How many TDs did Orton throw in Chicago last season? The answer is 18.

You dont think with Marshall, Royal, and Scheffler to throw to he wont have 7 more?

Why? They just robbed Chicago straight up. Cutler was a great talent but a great talent at QB doesn't = Superbowl. Defense gets the team to the Championships. The Offense just helps. No one gets into the playoffs with a mediocre defense.

Besides, the Broncos real mistake was hiring McDaniels from Bellicheat's system. Those guys are as shaddy as a NY alley gutter. But, then again, they came out with 2 1sts, a 3rd, and at least a solid BU QB in Orton.
