We need Campbell to be as good as he can be this year and on this team

We need every pick we can get - especially #13 this year and next year's top 2 picks.

We need a QB that can make plays that score points better than we have seen in the past 10 years here - that is not Campbell or Collins

We especially need another team to finally beat Snyder to the punch and take Cutler off the market

we need a lot of things
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

You think Collins played better than JC? Another over-simplification, but fine. Why don't you argue to have Collins start? If he's better than JC, wouldn't that be a hell of a better alternative than throwing away draft picks on Cutler?

Sure it's an over-simplification, but what the Redskins did with Collins at quarterback at the end of the '07 season was magical, and it reached all of us on an emotional level. JC is not the answer and we all know it on the same emotional level-in our hearts!

In 2007 Collins and JC had the same tools to work with. In Collins short tenure he orchestrated that offense in a manner we all wish JC could have done. Todd isn't more physically gifted than Jason but he was decisive, has a quick release and knew the offense inside and out.

I don't think Todd should have started last year for a few reasons.

1. His big advantage was his knowledge of Al's system, that system was gone.
2. He's getting up there in age.
3. New system.

Now if Al was still here than I would say that it should have been an open competition for the starting job last summer. I agree with our HC's decision to play the younger guy last year.

I haven't discussed or talked about what we'd have to give up.

My opinion, I d'nt want to give up anything. I want a 1-1 swap of QB's. I'd rather take chances on Colt or via the draft IMO.

He depends on Brandon Marshall and Royal for the bulk of those scores. he also depends on an offensive line for the bulk of those scores.

Enough with the excuses. People harp about the oline all the time on this site. Well Big Ben won the Super Bowl with an offensive line that gave up 46 sacks in 16 regular reason games. That's eight more sacks than JC took in 2008. In 2009 Matt Cassell was sacked an NFL-leading 47 times, yet still had significantly better numbers than JC. You say that Cutler depends on the oline for a "bulk of those scores," yet in 2007 he was sacked 27 times (6 more than JC) and yet still posted a qb of 88.1, completed over 63 percent of his passes, and threw 20 tds. Obviously there are problems with the oline that need to be addressed. However, JC isn't the only qb in the NFL with problems on his oline yet we constantly hear about that being an excuse. Go back and look at the SB and some of the plays that Big Ben made under pressure while avoiding the rush, especially late in the game. We don't see that from JC.

Just ck out campbell response to these rumors. Now that's class and cutler needs to learn something from Campbell.

Look at past Skins QB's who have been traded, waved , or signed with another team and did something

Trent Green
Brad Johnson
Gus Ferotte
Stan Humphries

We did give up 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks over 2 years for Brad Johnson though and he led us to a NFC East title. I wouldnt mind giving up two 1st rounders for Cutler as long as he wins.

Ok, I would trade Campbell for Cutler straight up right now even though I'm a big Campbell fan, but is it worth losing a chance at Andre Smith or Michael Oher as a franchise OT along with God knows how much more we'll trade?

This would be a bad idea. Not only would it set the 'Skins back at least 2 years as Cutler learns the Zorn system, it would be more precious draft picks that the 'Skins NEED to bolster the key areas of O and D lines.

Cutler is good, no question. But we have much more pressing needs than QB, and if we draft well, the team could be somewhere close within the next 2 or 3 years.

The other thing I was thinking about was this- they get Cutler, and they have a mediocre season, say 7-9 or even 8-8. What are the chances that The Danny keeps Zorn for a third season? Knowing his impatience, I would think it wouldn't be likely that Zorn would be back in 2010. THen we have to deal with ANOTHER new head coach, another new offensive system, and the growing pains associated with all of that.

It is just not worth the trouble the trade would cause.

They are going to want 2 first rounders. Or Campbell, our 1st rounder, and perhaps a conditional pick.

We need to give JC at least 2yrs under the same system for his sake. The poor kid has been through 50 Off Cord. in the last 5yrs. What I'm seeing in these posts is that everyone is not ready to give up on JC but don't want to let a QB like Cutler get away. It's 1yr to early!

RIGHT so let another team deal with Cutler's petulant ways. The Redskins cannot afford that distraction, nor can they afford to give up draft picks for him. I am sorry, but Cutler is not that nice.

I don't even think Jay Cutler is any better than Jason Campbell... any

Mike Wilbon agrees, Kornheiser disagrees so I guess we might get a chance to see.

This is completely fake, the Redskins already gave their statement, denying interest in Cutler, why should they give a statement every time they are associated with trade rumors that flare up, after they already did? Seriously, no one but JLC has pointed to a bit of evidence that isn't JLC's hearsay article. If he was right about this, they would have done the deal last night. on another topic though- I just got off the phone with an unnamed NFL source and he says we're trading Haynesworth and the 13th to Indianapolis for Peyton and a 6th rounder, and the trade is going down "as we speak". See, just that easy
