1. Cutler is better than Campbell. You guys are delerious and think this cat is a probowl QB when he's not. Flacco and Ryan are better QB's than Campbell.

2. It's OBVIOUS that the organization his DOUBTS about Jason. If it was so apparent that he is a probowl QB when haven't we resigned him? Why is the team taking a wait and see approach on this PERENNIAL PROBOWL QB??? It's because he's a huge question mark.

QB is a problem for this team. I dunno what I want them to do but I dont feel Jason is the answer.

The only reason Cutler had more yds is b/c of several factors. The Bronco's were playing from behind most games and also did not have a run game last year either. Also, JC had line issues where he was literally running for his life.

Having a good running game makes passing the ball easier. It was very impressive what Cutler did despite an utter lack of a rushing attack. JC had a solid running game, particularly early in the season, and still struggled all season putting points on the board. No doubt the line struggled last season but JC's slow decision making and slow release contributed to that problem. Besides, Matt Cassell took 9 more sacks than JC last season and still posted better numbers, including 21 tds, so to blame all of JC's problems on factors beyond his control (i.e. the line, the receivers) is a joke.

Exactly! Also don't forget that Cutler really opened up Denver's running game. He had the defenses so spread out that even Peyton Hillis the team's FOURTH string RB was able to repeatedly break loose big gains untouched. The point is defenses fear this guy because he is a playmaker and that is what we need and have been lacking on this offense for a long time.

thank you, now people are starting to make sense... does anyone on this board honestly feel like JC is our franchise QB, or the future of this organization? having nothing to do with other options available, or the Cutler situation...

I don't know why. Cooley is a great teammate and hard worker. The guy had one TD last year. I love Cooley as a Redskins but I would not be heartbroken to see him go. The WC offense doesn't use the TE that much anyways and Davis is bigger and more of an athlete, I am sure he would be a fine fill in, especially if getting rid of Cooley meant bringing in Cutler.

You can't blame Cooley's lack of TD's on him. He had the most receptions on the team, and the most by a TE in franchise history. He's arguably our best offensive player, and a great core Redskin. He wants to play his entire career in B&G, and most fans would love to see him do just that. I'm with spud on this one.

I could care less if someone wants to stay hear his whole career and hes arguably are best player on an awful offense! Whoopy! This is a business and 1 TD is a not performing and oh yeah 3 GAME CHANGING fumbles does not get me to attached. I leave heart out of this, I love Cooley I think he is a great guy because he just seems like a normal dude, not an NFL TE, but I dont care if we part with a guy who only scores 1 TD and it was on a gadget play.

I agree Ru-Ru.. let JC finish his last year.. however IF we have a shot @ J-Cut w/out using early picks, eh, so be life. Colt will need some time because of wack passes in preseason but he'll spif it up I believe. I just pray we don't do him like we did JC by letting him sit for too long.

everyone please elaborate on the "trouble" Cutler has caused before this trade issue arose... i don't follow the AFC that closely, but do watch ESPN, etc., but don't recall off the top of my head when this guy became a trouble... i know he has had his moments with Rivers, but that has all been on the field, a competitive battle between the two... however, i do not see or hear about this guy involved with the wrong group of guys, going to clubs and shooting them up, involved with drugs, etc... so, please elaborate as to why Cutler is troubled (this is to anyone who has stated such, not just calling out this post)...

Cassell? He had Randy Moss. He's a huge question mark until he does what he did with "normal WR's". Everyone thought bum Daunte Culpepper was awesome until Moss went away. A blind man can be mvp with Moss on his squad.

Hey Capt., I think everyone is just referring to the way he's been handling Broncos trying to trade him. You'll see people refer to JC on how he's handling the trade talks himself and you can see the comparison being made. Like, JC has class for saying the right things or J-Cut went off about the organization after he found out. I think?

What if we trade J-Camp, this year's 3rd rounder and next year's first rounder?

I want to keep our #13 and draft an OT there.

I have never been a Jason Campbell supporter but I would not like to see the Redskins get Jay Cutler. The cost would be to high for a quarterback who is not that much better.

That's still a steep price in my opinion. What I don't get about this fan base, not you in particular, is we whine and complain about dealing away drafts picks and then we propose so many deals with them (draft picks) included. Whatever happens with the Cutler/Campbell situation is ultimately out of our hands, although it's fun to discuss, but I will support whatever QB is in a Redskins uniform.

Are you disputing this?
Cooley's 83 receptions last season is not only the best year by a TE in franchise history, it's the 6th best season of any receiver in franchise history. He also holds the #2, #4, and #5 spots for TEs with his 71 catches in 2005, 66 in 2007, and 57 in 2006, respectively. If you want to argue TEs in franchise history, then Jerry Smith would be the next choice before you got to Didier. Don't get me wrong, I loved me some Clint, but Cooley is an all-timer IMO.

Cutler is Jeff George take 2.

As far as the deal as a good idea - JC17 is a great young man and an average middle aged quarterback. JC6 is a lousy young man and a franchise quarterback. Last time I checked, average QB's with character like Big Ben, Dilfer, and Brad Johnson win SBs with great teams built around them. And franchise QB's like Brady and the Mannings win SB with their arms and great personal character and team leadership.

What you don't see is QB's like Jeff George winning anything but the admiration of fans who love strong arms more than strong character.

Remind me - how did Jeff George work out when Snyder went and got him and kicked out Brad Johnson? Oh, yeah, George was a disaster and Johnson won a superbowl. The winner in this deal may just be JC17.

=D>
Quoted for Truth. Everything about this - the type of player he is, his current situation combined with ours - is a siren song to our impetuous owner. He's clearly shown us in the past that he has a very difficult time resisting the urge to pull the trigger on guys in similar circumstances. He's forever thinking we are ONLY one player away from another title.

Wrong. We are not now and have not been one player away for about 16-17 years now. Very few teams in the history of this league are ever one player away; the phrase itself is grossly misleading and inaccurate. IF we acquire this 2nd JC we will surely be giving up on our 1st before we know for certain that he's a failure. We will also be paying way too much for him by giving away one or two of our stars. That means that even in a best-case scenario (Cutler comes in and has a Pro Bowl year, and our offense just goes off the charts) we would only be substituting one set of problems for another. We give up 'Los, maybe Capt. Chaos, and you can bet your ass we will struggle mightily at those positions instead of at QB as we have recently.

I know the odds are against me but I'm hoping against hope that the Dan takes a deep breath and goes against his grain on this one. He's shown this past off-season with the exception of Big Al, which merited it IMO, that he might just be learning how to build a winning squad over time. He needs to remember those lessons now; to swap out our signal-caller with this enormously talented but infinitesimally self-esteemed Bronco would set us back farther than ever.

Don't worry we will do something like spend a hundred million on a veteran wide receiver or trade picks next year and forget the O line once again.

I have heard that the Broncos are not sure they want Campbell  - I wonder if some here at THN are the only NFL fans that think Campbell is going to be a great QB

The fact that this trade might cost us this year's #13 pick and next year's #1 is still being considered by some as a must deal for the Redskins, that is, IF the Redskins FO and Zorn are not convinced that Campbell is going to light it up for years to come.

I am not a Cutler fan BUT I am concerned about Campbell, as many here know - BUT .... we also need to address the offensive line AND we need a #1 wideout.

patience is a virtue that is obviously not a part of Snyder's makeup
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

As printed on Rotoworld. Mort is right on this one because it has been repeated by several sources and the standing offers include this kind of bounty. Here is the short:

" Jay Cutler-QB- Broncos Apr. 2 - 9:27 am et

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that a Jay Cutler trade could come by as early as Friday.
Mort says Denver wants "at least" two first-round picks and doesn't need a passer in return. Only the Lions and Eagles hold two first-rounders in this year's draft, so other clubs will have to give up future picks to execute a deal. The Redskins and Jets are known to be in active pursuit at this time."

or......Brandon Marshall. Broncos players meet in players only meeting tomorrow. There is talk of unrest and the possibility of many more departures. McDaniels seems to be sabotaging the franchise and the players aren't united behind him. This is also taken from Rotoworld and the Denver Post, just like my last post.
