Hypothetical trade...
Its the offseason, so we can have some fun here. I wonder how many of you would make the trade.... Jason Campbell and, say, a 1st rounder next year.... for Cutler? Campbell is a free agent at the end of the year, and Cutler is a young QB, with a super strong arm, quick release, coming off his first pro bowl. i bet denver would consider this.... and both the skins and broncos feel pretty good about our last blockbuster trade with portis and bailey. what do you guys think?

But why would he want JC? The only reason we're talking about this at all is because they wanted the kid that McD had groomed from the moment he suited up in the pros. Cutler got pissy about it, understandably. I know the situation in Denver...but I don't see how you think JC is viable trade bait?

We'd be better to keep both. If JC isn't the answer after this season, then we can use the pick on one of the talented QB's that should be available next year.

I don't think it would take a 1st rounder in addition to JC. Cutler has ruined any leverage Denver had for a trade. Other than a fairly desperate team, like maybe Minnesota, I don't see anyone offering even a 1st rounder by itself.
Also, I think Cutler is over-rated. Good? yes. Great?, no way. He has stuck his foot in his mouth several times before this trade BS. And he has a penchant for turning the ball over when the game is on the line. I don't think he's much better than JC, if at all. JC is definitely a better leader at this point in his career and better at limiting his turnovers.
Denver may get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Cutler, but there is just as much chance that he has to shut up and go back to work in Denver.

JCam is not on solid ground here with the Skins. Just as JLC....

As for the Redskins, well, they've certainly made no long-term commitment to Jason Campbell; forget about getting him a new contract. And Vinny Cerrato won't even call him the quarterback of the future. So would I rule out the Redskins sniffing around on a Pro Bowl QB? Heck, I never rule anything out.

Besides, his credibility as a leader isn't looking so good. I'm not saying Cutler is wrong for being upset about this trade thing, but he is coming across looking like a spoiled brat. I don't know what the right way for him to handle this is, but whining about it to the media and demanding a trade publicly sure wasn't it

He has been treated like anything but a starting QB on a team that wants him. They fired the GM and head coach that drafted him while telling him that it didn't mean much because the OC would be sticking around. Then the fired the OC and tried to trade him, telling him it didn't mean much they were only answering calls about if he were available. Only to find out they were making the calls.
I think itt's more the agent missing the spot light that Favre put him in over the 3-4 off-seasons

If it's not an even trade, don't do it.
Wouldn't do it straight-up, I'd add next year's 2nd for Cutler their 2nd, 5th and 7th this year. They have 2 5th and 7th and no leverage. Cutler will make more than a million less than Campbell, so the move would free up cap space for the additional picks. Cutler also has 3 years left on his rookie deal.
Didn't they run the WCO in Denver

Someone show me where in the NFL it has paid off to wait for more than 3 years for a player to develop? The Redskins have prolly ruined another QB with their lack of stability, I hate to say it but they need to cut their losses with Jason, give him a chance to succeed somewhere else and build with a talented guy and try their best to not swap schemes, coaches and players for the foreseeable future.
I guess...you can argue Steve Young but he's really the only one. Could Jason be out Steve Young? LMAO Maybe. But Colt could be our Tom Brady too! LOL

They picked up Chris Simms but don't seem too high on him and McDaniels has said he want's more than just draft picks if any trade were to happen

Campbell bashers will be all over this...
Campbell hasn't had three years, he's had three offensive schemes, and Joe kept him behind MB a little too long, yet he has improved (stat wise) every year. His stats aren't as good as Cutler's
2008 Passer Rating: Cutler: 86 - Campbell: 84.3
2008 TD to INT ratio: Cutler: 25 to 18, or roughly 1.4 TDs to each INT - Campbell: 13 to 6, or roughly 2.2 TDs to each INT
but the fact is last year they led their teams to 8-8 records.
A stat that isn't looked at is Cutler faced the Raiders and Cheifs twice while Campbell had to deal with the NFC East.
Here's the part RiC will love
Campbell wasn't JJG's quarterback, that had "the Danny" written all over it (trading mulitple picks to move up in the draft, then anouncing why the move was made and who the new pick will be use on, and Gibbs liked veteran QBs). When Gibbs Scheme didn't fit Jason, "the Danny" paid Big playbook Al to come in with half a playbook ("the Danny" liked CP in JJG's running scheme). When that didn't work and Gibbs headed South we basically got the same thing, a new passing scheme and Gibbs ground game. It's not really on Jason, but then it seems like we are blaming the scheme but it goes a little higher if you think about it.
