Running back Clinton Portis is not expected to be in Ashburn for the start of workouts. "I fully expect him to be here participating at some point," Zorn said of Portis. "I talked to Clinton on the phone yesterday, and he knows what it means. He's just trying to work out his schedule. He's been working out his schedule."

Good article. Some positive insight from Z. I'm really excited about the offseason and him having a chance to work with the offense and improve on some things.
As for Clinton, whats up with his schedule? He better not be dancing with the stars.

I am sure there were just looking for an excuse to unload Jason Taylor, and not make the organization look bad...then they let someone else get away with it

i believe it did not cost anything as far as a cap hit to cut taylor, which added to the fact they can just clear his cap space
2-2|0-4|1-2|0-0
home: 3-2
road: 0-6
Since 2000 the Redskins have scored 40 pts 2 times!!!!

Sorry. No one offers half a million just to work out unless that's what you intend. They did not need an excuse to cut him, as until they said they wanted to keep him all the pundits were expecting him to be cut.
I surmise that they offered him the money because they wanted him to work out under supervision... not as a pretext to cutting him. When he refused, it raised questions about his commitment. Why keep him at that point?

Point taken, but the same could be said for many of our players over the years that did not workout at Redskins park. I am not saying that cutting J. Taylor was unjust, but it definitely made the organization look better for cutting him after his refusal, rather than cutting him and admitting they made a so called mistake acquiring him.

If that's the case then how come it isn't a big deal that CP is missing workouts? If Taylor doesn't want to workout at Redskins Park that means he isn't committed, but if CP misses workouts it's ok? Seems like a double standard to me.
Not really, Taylor's injury was such that they wanted to keep a close eye on the situation. Clinton also already has a workout clause in his contract, so his missing time means the team will recoup some money.

Taylor's calf injury has long passed and I doubt they wanted to keep an eye on it, but I could be wrong. As for CP's clause, and don't get me wrong I love the man and he's a beast, but if the team wants hold a standard they should old it to everyone. Now, living in the real world I know that's not going to happen, but if you want everyone to buy into something, the same treatment across the board is needed.

I don't buy that. You stay in your lane, keep your nose clean, and don't worry about what the Jones' are doing. Why should Doughty worry about what CP's doing ?? He shouldn't, he should mind his own business...

That's easier said then done, especially in our society. For some, your philosophy may work, and for other it may not be so easy. I believe whether we acknowledge it or not, everyone is looking at everyone else.

You caught it before i reread and edited my nonsense ending
Just b/c society doesn't do it doesn't mean it's right. If society would put as much effort in to themselves as the do worrying about other people, I think we'd be much better off.

My point is that they are holding them both to the same standard. They asked Clinton to renegotiate a couple of years ago, and included a workout clause at that time. If he had refused, and they did not cut him, then you would have an argument. As it stands, the team will not have to pay CP his workout bonus if he misses whatever percentage the contract calls for.

Guess J. Taylor should have gotten a better agent then .
I am sure Clinton has to attend a certain percentage of offseason workouts NOT totaling 100% to receive his bonus. Probably somewhere north of 85%. He will be there when he needs to be there.
