free agency move

Post by jerseyskin »

i think the skins made some very nice moves this off season, however we are extremely short on linebackers on the team right now,we have a total of three under contract for next year ,and one of them is a back-up in
H.B Blades who they want to move to outsidebacker .how about triying to sign cato june or ang.crowell,or we can try to sign a free agent DE in free agency and draft one of the LB,S in the draft wich i personnally like the best, what do you guys think?

Welcome jerseyskin, I joined the other day and I can tell you that you're on the best Redskins message board there is...

...as for the LB situation; I'd like to see the Skins get M. Washington back, at a discounted rate of course, and also take care of that need in the draft. Maybe Rey Maualuga from USC.

Welcome to the site, please check the site rules. Also, since this is mostly focused on people who are not (yet) Redskins, I am moving this thread.
Happy posting

I believe Maualuga is an ILB, but a great player nonetheless. I would like to see us grab either Orakpo at #13, or if he is not there, maybe trade back a few spots and get Cushing! That might get us an extra pick in the middle of the draft. I think that the OT pool is so deep this year that we could get a very good starter in Round 3, while also getting either Orakpo or Cushing in the first round. My 2 cents

I don't want a good starter on the O-line i want a great one. Round 1 IMHO has to go to Oher or a better tackle if available if not I agree try to trade back pick up a linebacker and add a draft pick.

Cato June is more of an undersized, cover 2 linebacker who is good in coverage, but not a great tackler. He would not fit well as the SAM LB in our system.

Angelo Crowell is solid, but oft-injured. The last thing we need is another starter with a history of injuries.

I would take either one of these guys, but only as backups. Unfortunately, with the FA market, these guys should probably make starter money.

I know Crowell was on IR last year. Does he have a proir history of injuries? Is there reason to think he hasn't recovered?

Um. yes. He ended his season early in 2007 with a torn triceps and has had knee troubles and at one point had to be placed on IR for arthroscopic surgery. There's no reason to think he hasn't recovered, my point was the Redskins don't need another player, especially a linebacker with injury concerns.

I just can't see using our 13th pick on an Offensive lineman who benched the same, or less as many WR's at the combine (Oher). I think he is by far the lesser of the first round OT prospects in the draft! We have ignored the D-line for years in the draft (since Bobby Wilson in 1991), and we have paid for it!
