Springs to the Eagles? [Update: Officially with Patriots]

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

I prefer him going to Philly moreso than Dallas ( where I expected him to go). I think Philly has lost some significant contributors to that defense with the losses of Dawkins and Sheppard and I don't see Philly as big a threat next year as the other teams in our division. Of the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles I'll take him going to Philly all day long.

My thoughts exactly. Bet money he's sitting on the bench with a hamstring injury for both meetings.

he is old lets try and be polite lololol
springs will be there because they lost dawkins and need vetren leaders and a pretty reliable guy when healthy but will definetly have no major impact as a play maker and even with the skins was really losing any credit as a play maker but was a good chemistry guy for the defense.... i wish him well but not the eagles I think springs will get the shaft there and be there biggest non factor. if not because of injury because of the stinking iggles....
I love watching and waiting to see what the hecks going on.
god blessed us with # 59 ... go skins

Springs signed with the pats.

Last year, the New England Patriots lost a cornerback to Philadelphia, when Asante Samuel jumped to the Eagles on the first day of free agency.

This year, the Pats have managed a small measure of revenge, winning the two-team derby with the Eagles for the services of veteran corner Shawn Springs.

According to Shalise Manza Young of the Providence Journal, Springs is expected to sign with the Patriots.

Springs was released last Friday by the Redskins.

Hah. So much for the theory the Patriots can do no wrong. Anyone know what they are going to pay him? Maybe he chose them over Philly because he wants a serious chance at a ring. :idea:

Wow, how did the Patsies miss this one? I thought they had the best collection of football minds in the league.

Springs hasn't played a full 16 games since Y2K. He hasn't played more than eight games in four of the eight seasons since.

He has played in 82 of 128 games over the past 8 years which equals about 64%.

The only thing I can figure is that they are hoping he's on a pattern.

2005 = 15 games
2006 = 8 games
2007 = 14 games
2008 = 7 games

Maybe they figure they can get 13-14 games out of him in 2009.

I guess if they can turn Randy Moss around, maybe they figure they can do the same for him.

I don't think R Moss and Springs had the same situation. R Moss was on the Raiders...that should speak for itself.
...any given Sunday....

RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

im in NE. people around here know about his past of injuries and still are excited about his arrival. they know that he has pass coverage ability when healthy and are not expecting to pay that much for him. wont be surprised if he plays into their great system and comes away as a stand out. the pats have a history of making guys better with their system and I would not be surprised at all to see him thrive
