I'm sorry.... I know it's an open competition.... but it's really Brunell's job to lose..... I can't see Patrick beating Brunell in camp.... There both learning a new system..... They both have great arms and there both fundementally pretty good.... Brunell's got more experience and is a proven winner...... so he has the advantage.... he would have to screw up pretty bad in my opinion to not get the first crack at the starting job..... it's his to lose.....

Oopsies! What's that taste like?

Its going to be an open competition so who ever wins it out in training camp will be the starter. At the end of the season injuries will decide that, but it will be whoever wins it out if they both stay healthy.

I´m going with Ramsey, with Gibbs on board Ramsey could be one of the best QB´s in the league in this season, there´s a huge difference between Gibbs and Spurrier, let´s don´t forget Ramsey threw for 14 td´s in 10 or 11 games under Spurrier, the redskins need to take advantage with his potential.
Remember back in the 1990 season, Troy Aikman with the cowboys in his second season was one win away from leading the team into the playoffs after a 1-15 season, a year later they went to the divisional playoffs and then 3 superbowl rings.
I mention this because I think Ramsey has greater talent than Aikman had, Aikman was so succesful because he started in his first season in which he also had e.smith and m.irvin, the redskins have c.portis and l.coles, I really didn´t like the signing of Brunell, GO THE RAM AND BEAT BRUNELL.

I'm with ATV. Brunell will likely get his chance. Patrick might have too much to prove, too soon (in his mind, only) and become erratic. Brunell ? Too old for that nonsense. I think it will be an injury issue.

brunell is the 9th highest rated passer in league history... that means he makes good decisions... doesn't throw many int's and tosses td's... that is all this team needs... he still has a lot in the tank... he was run out jax b/c a new coach came in and needed to make a mark on the team... brunell was a coughlin leftover...
my only worry is him having concusions.... but i can't wait to see this offense... brunell, portis, coles, gardner is a pretty solid cast...

See right now I'm on lettuce... Pretty soon I'll be on fries... After that.. The grill... And after that... Comes Assistant. Manager.... and That's When the Big Bucks roll in!
I just cast my vote for Brunell, even though I'm a big fan of Patrick, and like his long-term potential. However, at this point, I see Brunell winning the starting job, based on his experience, and Patrick learning more about the NFL (from a proven coaching staff, this time) from the sidelines.
I give Brunell two years here, and then I think we see him going the way of the salary cap, with Patrick stepping in at that point. I'm also predicting that we'll see the Redskins make it worth Patrick's while in the next two years, by setting him up with a long-term contract that will keep him here for the long term, as the starter.

I love PRam - and I think with a little polishing and a little touch, the man could turn into a massive all pro QB with a chance at the hall of fame with his arm.
He needs to let go of some of the analytical nature though and just through the ball a bit faster...

I agree with you, SFIR, he held the ball way too long last year. The biggest part of that, I think, was the schemes he was giving to work with. I'm hoping that he'll listen closely and LEARN during training camp from this staff.
He definitely has the skills to be a starter--he just doesn't have the experience (with a workable system) yet.
