Trade ideas

Post by Redskins4Life »

I'm a big Redskins fan and i'm also a big Chicago Bulls fan. Well, on the Bulls message board along with other basketball message boards, people speculate trades that help out all the teams involved. Even though trades in basketball occur more frequently than in football, I think people on this forum should start proposing possible trades. Although most of them will likely never happen, its a fun creative thing to do especially when you're bored. So why don't we all start thinking about possible trades, It'll be fun for everyone! I'll start with this possible trade....

We trade Cliff Russell or some other speedy wideout to the Oakland Raiders for DE Akbar Gbaja Biamila. Gbaja Bilamila didn't play much last season buried on the depth chart however he is extremely fast for a DE and is a pure pass rusher. He's the brother of Kabeer who plays for the Green Bay Packers and I think if Akbar was in the right situation he could have success similar to his brother. As for the Raiders, they need some youth at the WR position and don't forget, Cliff was a 3rd round pick only two years ago. The main reason I chose Cliff is because he is extremely fast and Raiders Owner Al Davis covets speed. I think if Cliff is put in the right position, he could flourish as well. What do you guys think? A backup WR for a potential starting DE? Works out for both teams. Will this trade happen? Probably not but it's fun to speculate....

Davis covets anybody over 35 years old... :) But seriously, where's the speed you're talking about? Fargas, Wheatley, Zereoue, T. Brown, Rice, Gallery? Definitely a lack of speed in Oaktown.

i say we trade taylor jacobs... it was a wasted pick and he hasn't showed me much... i didn't think he was all that in college either... i don't really know his value... but i think we should dump him before people find out he isn't really that good... right now he can blame it on the injury/rookie season...

everyone wants to trade gardner... but he is coming into his prime... most wr's don't blossom until their 3rd season in the NFL... that was last year... but imo last year was a wash..

we have probably too much depth at WR... so we should trade one of them...

Everyone's been saying for the last three seasons that Gardner's coming into his prime but it hasn't turned out. And he gets paid too much for little production from a former 15th overall pick.

As far as Jacobs goes, I wanted Doss last year, but we got someone better this year in Taylor, so I'm not too mad anymore. Jacobs was really good in college and was one of the best receivers in the 2003 Draft. I guess it was fate that he was drafted by Spurrier... I don't think Jacobs will turn out to be an NFL bust because believe it or not, he has speed, catching ability, and good awareness.

Jake....
Al Davis does covet speed, that's why he drafted Jerry Porter a few years ago, and also Texas Tech WR Carlos Francis this season. Both extremely fast, and where did you get the notion that Justin Fargas isn't fast? The guys a blazer! And also, before the NFL Draft people were predicting that if Oakland was to draft a WR, Roy Williams of Texas was ahead of Larry Fitzgerald on his draft board because of his pure speed. And if you look at Oakland's TE's theyre both really fast for TE's. I have heard from multiple places that Davis loves speed and for that reason if this trade was proposed, it might be able to happen.

Carlos Francis - 4.33 in the 40-yard dash
Justin Fargas - 4.4

Cliff Russell - 4.29 in the 40-yard dash

I couldn't find Porter's 40 time but there are a couple of fast guys there but as a whole, their team is pretty slow.

Yeah, age has a funny way of slowing you down. The Raiders offense has been running on diesel fuel for a while now. It will be interesting to see how they do under Norval. His offense needs speed to operate and unless he brought a fountain of youth with him from Miami, he may have to scrap the downfield passing game. That team needs a huge offensive overhaul.

Because he hasn't proven anything yet. Just because somebody is someone's brother doesn't guarantee success. The Schoebel's are a good example of equal talent throughout the family, though. Matt Schoebel is a Bengals tight end, Aaron is a Bills defensive lineman, and Bo was just drafted by a team that I don't remember. :)

We could have had a quality pick in the second round but Spurrier wasted it on Jacobs

To this day, I would still trade Theismann for Cathy Lee Crosby. :)

trade idea

Post by wandkwitham »

I like the idea of proposing "what if?" trades.

I thought of a really good one - apparently the military is asking for approximately 10,000 more troops in Iraq. The Redskins have approximately 10,000 wide eceivers on their roster. I'm sure there is a way to work some kind of good trade with that situation.

Turning to the serious, I feel the Skins have got to trade one of these guys to get some value back. Otherwise the Thrash - and I do like Thrash as a 3rd receiver mind you - looks really stupid. He can return kicks but Morton is already there. He can be 3rd reciever but there is already Coles, the overrated Gardner, DMAC, Taylor, Russell etc. etc. I know this has been covered before but I still don't understand why they picked up Thrash without trading one of the numerous other receivers.

Welcome to the board wandkwitham, That is a good point you got there. Personally, I don't know why Gardener is still on our roster. I thought once we got Thrash they were going to at least try to trade Gardener for a good pass rusher. I would like to see McCants move up to number two with Thrash at number three, but I guess Coach Gibbs sees something in Gardener that I don't see.
