Looking for a new team.

Post by Smacky the Frog »

Hello all,

I have been a life long Viking fan for 34 years. I cannot stand the current coaching staff and have decided that the Vikings cannot do anything but choke year in and year, and so it's time to give it up.

Let me explain how much I have bled the Purple...I was a former season ticket holder until my job moved me down south. At which point, I began purchasing the NFL Sunday Ticket every year to watch the Vikings stink it up. I just cannot get myself to do it anymore.

I am possibly facing a promotion to the Washinton DC area, so I thought I would try on the Redskins, to see how it fits.

Welcome to the boards. I can't speak for everybody, but as far as I'm concerned...we don't need any more fans like you. You dance with who brung ya.
If you really love the Vikings, it's the franchise whose colors you bleed, not necessarily the team currently on the field. I'd go so far as to say maybe the Cowboys could use you. We're all set. Thanks anyway!

Welcome to the site, please check out the rules for newbies. I'm moving this thread since it isn't really about the Redskins.

PS Stay with the Vikings, abandoning your team is only tolerable when it abandons you via a physical move

Ummm... the Ravens wear purple... and they have crappy fans, too... so there wouldn't even be an adjustment period. It'd be just like being in Minneapolis... except with crab cakes and oysters.

OK, once again I've read the rules, could you point out which rule I broke in posting the original post?

He never said you broke a rule. All newbies get the rule message when they join the board.

Just wondering how I referenced trying to cheer for the Redskins, yet, it isn't really about the Redskins????? I'd say it's just as much regarding the Redskins as the Vikings. I could be wrong.
I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.

Hogwash is for Redskins news(ish) items, a fan of another team trying to be convinced to root for the Redskins isn't really germane to the Redskins, it's analogous in the sense that you chose the Redskins but has little to do with the team otherwise. You aren't being prevented from asking, you're just doing it in a different forum. We also have a procedure for questions directed to mods or staff, which is to send a PM to the mod in question, please adhere to that for any future rule questions.

If Danny cans Zorn for Shanahan, I may be looking for a new team too.

You guys have arguably the best running back in the league. Your team just made the playoffs. You have a good defense as well. All you need is a franchise QB and you guys will be contending for a SuperBowl.

Why now? Frankly us as Redskins fans feel the pain when the Skins lose. Can u really say you would feel that same pain? Would you feel the same joy we experience when our team wins? I really do not think you can say that about the Redskins.

I even day dream of who the team can draft during my work day. I have to slap myself sometimes and say hey back to business. I draw football plays up and send them to the Redskins front office hoping they add it to the play book. Even though I know they will probably scrap it. LOL!

I am going to do you a favor and tell u what u should do.

Slap yourself and say hey I am a Vikings fan. What was I thinking? Then never think of betraying your team again. You guys just made the playoffs and your team is headed in the right direction. Stick it out heck they just made the playoffs!
Sean Taylor starting free safety Heavens team!

Exactly what I was thinking. The Ravens could always use more fairweather fans.

Seriously, why become a Redskins fan if you're just going to turn your backs on us like you did with Minnesota?

Our situation isn't much better down here.

I say just stick with watching Mitch Hedberg re-runs if you're tired of football. Smacky the Frog.

Thanks, Mitch Hedberg was my favorite comedian, and then he died. I guess I can't pick a new favorite comedian, right guys?

That's hardly fair. If your football team had died, no one would be giving you any heartburn about shopping for a new one... and, while the suckiness factor of your team increased over the course of the season (hmmm... sounds familiar), your team is, in fact, NOT dead. Therefore, you are comparing Apples and Cucumbers.

So, pick anyone you'd like... as long as he's funny. The Hogs.Net Committee on Determining the Funniness of Comedians (CODFOC) will then meet to critique your selection. Good luck... none of them have a sense of humor.

Hope it's a good one.

In my experience, the high road is vastly overated... (besides... I'm a touch acrophobic)
