Clinton Portis Sighting (I think) Part II

Post by Jake »

Ok, SteamRollingRiggo saw him, I think I did, too.

I was walking home from school a little later because I stayed after school to reherse on a "play" I'm doing for my creative writing class. I was walking up the sidewalk and stopped to cross the street and was waitiong for all the cars to go by so I could cross the road myself, because the crossing guard didn't seem to want to get out of her truck. Then this red car (Mercedes C540, i think) with temporary tags stopped to let me cross. I waited because I thought the van coming the opposite way of the red car was going faster than it really was, so I didn't cross. Then the guy in the red car goes by. It took a little to register and it looked just like Clinton Portis!

Man! If only I wore a Redskin shirt like I planned! Maybe he would have said something but I wore my Navy Midshipmen t-shirt. I was looking for the hair on his chin but I couldn't really see because the inside of the car was dark and shaded.

I guess I'll have to ask him at camp if he was visiting Annapolis and drove through Edgewater and was going to let a high school kid cross the street. (Yeah, sure he'll remember that when July rolls around  ). Clinton or no Clinton, it made my day. I have no idea what he'd be doing in Edgewater but I'll try to ask him!

Jake, i think the odds are against you on this one. But then again, Edgewater is the hot spot around here, so Portis could be kickin it in suburbia! ....sike!

Hey Jake,

I saw Lavar at the Annapolis Mall last Saturday evening. Maybe Annapolis is becoming a place for Redskins players to escape the fanfare.

Doesn't LaVar live in Annapolis now?

Does anyone know whereabouts Portis lives?

I had thought that LaVar had bought a nice townhouse in VA but then let his brother live there, and now he's got a nice house out in Annapolis. Wasn't that why he was on the "trading spaces" show fixing up the townhouse (but not actually working)--for his brother?

That's one heck of a commute from Annapolis to Redskins park.

Well, considering that the interior of his car is probably way nicer than my house; I know I certainly wouldn't mind it too much. :) :)

wait, that didn't come out right. . .

Man you guys are so lucky, i've only seen a Redskin once, all the rest of you guys have probably seen hundreds of players. Darrell Green came to my school when I was in 6th grade. I don't think anyone was wearing a Redskins jersey that day and the only kid that was, just so happened to be wearing a #28 jersey and got it signed! What a lucky guy! Anyway I wished I lived in MD 'cause it sounds like players are showing up there more often than in VA.

Actually, most of the Skins that live in the metro area live in VA. I know Darnerien, P-Ram, Thrash, Cory Raymer, etc. do.

I don't know of too many players that live in MD. There may be some but I might be wrong. I know Mark May used to live in Edgewater and Orioles pitcher Matt Riley does.

Scott and I have thought about looking for Jansen and Ramsey's house since they are neighbors. We thought we could take Jackson trick or treating there. LOL We drive by Purcellville all the time.

I don't know if Virginia is the hotspot, or Maryland. I'm in VA. I've seen Brian Mitchell with Irving Fryar at Popeyes, Art Monk at Tower Records, Lavar Arrington at the bowling alley, Chris Samuels at the Mall (Fair Oaks), Michael Westbrook at another mall (he walked like a male model, kinda runway-ish...), a few others. I'm sure we've all seen them around, but maybe we don't recognize them without the proper uniform or surroundings. Although, I think any Skins fan would recognize Art Monk or Brian Mitchell.

OAFUSP - You're a trip !! I think the Blimp is parked in Edgewater waiting for the Preakness tomorrow in Balt.

Niki - make sure when you take Jackson trick or treating he's dressed as a Redskin !! Ha !

Oh...I've been meaning to tell you this - One of Brad Edward's(#27)sons name is Jackson and back when Brad was playing we named our white german shephard Jackson after him. I love that name.

I believe I read somewhere that Lavar is building a huge house (mansion probably) out in Annapolis on the water.

For the record, Lavar lives in Fairfax County, bought a big house....if there is an Annapolis house in his plans (dont know why he would have 2 houses in the area) then it is probably on hold pending $6.5 MIL issue.

Most of the Skins live near Ashburn...Loudoun and Fairfax county...makes sense since they work at Ashburn 5 days a week. Most of the players stay low key in public and I don't blame them, they know Redskin fans are hard core. Even backups will get hounded in public every now and then.

I partied at Gary Clarks house a couple times, got to see his trophy room. Funny thing was Brian Mitchell lived across the street and Dexter Coakley (Cowboy) lived next to him.

The funniest Skin siting was a few years ago when I saw Kenard Lang. It was when he was out a bunch of games with an ear infection. When I saw him at an Ashburn gas station I said wuzzup, and that I hoped he got better soon. He said "what"...this went back and forth a few times until I realized I was wishing him well on his EAR RECOVERY (which was bandaged up), and he could not hear me?!?!

Shocker...doh! what an idiot an can be............................burp

There are quite a few of the players that live here (Ashburn, VA). Most locals give them their privacy because we're so used to seeing them.

About 6 years ago I took my son to the local McDonalds. We went to get in line and realized that there was something wrong. The men in front of us in line were all virtual giants. Turns out it was the entire O-line for the 'skins. I've been to many games, been to a training camp, seen quite of few of these guys in the community. However there is something about seeing all of these guys standing together in a casual setting that makes you feel really small (at 6' and 200lbs, that ain't THAT easy).

I was actually worried my young son would get sucked into the gravitational pull directly in front of us.

Lavar brought his family a large spread over in PG county. His bother played BBall at Douglas HS. Maybe he's moved them over to Annapolis since??
