Room for at Least 15 Players
OK. So we are a mediocre team. We have essentially ignored drafting top notch OL since Chris Samuels. We also need to focus on OLB, RB, and DL.
Here is a list of players on the Active Roster and IR who I believe are vulnerable to being cut or traded.
D'Anthony Batiste OL
Ladell Betts RB
Ryan Boschetti DL
Devin Clark OL
Jason Fabini OL
Mike Green S
Cornelius Griffin DL
Pete Kendall OG
Will Montgomery OL
Antwaan Randle EL WR
Tyson Smith LB
Marcus Washington OLB
Johnny Baldwin LB
Alex Buzbee DE
Phillip Daniels DE
Justin Geisinger OG

These guys are respectable backups.
We have to have depth. We let these guys go, we will just have to sign other mediocre guys for depth.
I don't know the cap hits to let these guys go.
Griffin
Kendall
ARE
Washington
But a lot depends on their contract.
I would agree that we need upgrades for these guys.
Some guys like Washington and ARE are great for the locker room. These guys make the rest of the team laugh in long training camp days, and they mean more to the team, than what we see on the field.
I am a bit surprised that Springs didn't make your list. But I think its been great this year to have 4 starting caliper CBs. Now, thats good depth.

I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

I think they have to keep Betts, Griffin, ARE, Daniels (if he gets healthy), and Kendall. These guys are contributors.
everyone else can go.

Get rid of Smoot, and while they are at it, get rid of Rogers. I am sick of that guy. Has had maybe 3 good games since we drafted him.
Get rid of Rogers? Rogers is a PLAYA. He just needs to hang onto the ball a little bit better. As far as his cover skills, I think they are pretty darn good considering our d-line lets the quarterback stand in the pocket all day.

If Hall gets a big contract, Rogers will walk.Cappster wrote:jdubya wrote:Springs is as good as anyone if he can remain healthy...of course, that is a big if.

He did not like his demotion to 3rd CB.

If Springs gets cut, I don't see them letting Rogers walk. Hall and Rogers both are #1 corners while Smoot is more of a nickel.

Betts can be serviceable, but not to spell CP. I like him, but they're like oil and water. I think Betts can succeed somewhere, just not here.
...any given Sunday....

Springs and M Washington should be gone, small cap hits, and $12.5M in savings

exactly! he did great as the starter.. but this past season as a backup he did not do much at all. He and Portis just dont mix. Trade Betts to the Broncos and let him succeed there. Cuz its just not working out here.
Move Springs to safety. Kepp Smoot, Hall, and Rogers. Get rid of either Washington or Griffin, maybe both if the cap hits arent that bad.
And for god sakes, DRAFT LINEMEN!!!
