bah, open competition in training camp. I think even Collins should be in the mix. Heck, throw ARE in the mix too, why not?

Agreed except for the ARE thing. Knowing him, if we were in the shotgun with him as quarterback, even if the ball hit him in the hands, he'd just drop it anyways.

He knows the west coast, but Zorn's "system" was never in place in Seattle, because he was not a coordinator.

aaaagh, we should get the kicker from WVU, I know that is a bit of subject but the again we need offense and colt will get rocked, Jasons athletacism makes him just nimble enough to avoid being smashed.
I love watching and waiting to see what the hecks going on.

From what I have read, it seems that the Redskins are taking a wait and see position on Campbell. To me that suggests that they are not sold on Campbell being the quarterback of the future. If I were in Campbell's place, that would suggest to me that I have not done enough and need to do more to secure the position.

Yes, Brennen played some great games in the preseason but don't forget that he also had some not so great games. Campbell also had some great games this year and also some not so great. Collins is a guestion mark because we don't know if his great run 2 years ago was the result of his intimate knowledge of Saunders system or whether it was his ability. If it was his abiltiy, then the Redskins have been playing the wrong quarterback. Another unknown is how would either Brennen or Collins have performed in games behind the O-line the Redskins had last year.

I would rather see a fair and open competiton for the position.

There's more too, I've just seen numerous news stories and insider blogs where all his teammates have given glowing reviews.

It doesn't matter what his teammates think of him, it's what Dannyboy thinks of him. He is not the guy who's going to throw the quick slant because he's a deep ball thrower. With limited deep throws we will never see Campbell be successful. Gibbs won 3 Super Bowls by playing to the strength of his QBs, whether it be Theismann, Doug or Rypien, the ONLY coach to ever do so. He adjusts his offense to his talent. But, without decent offensive line play, NO system will work.
If you're mad at your kid, you can either raise him to be a nose tackle or send him out to play on the freeway. It's about the same. ~Bob Golic

Considering Collin's history with the Redskin only, there is no way one can deduct that Collins sucks. He was the highest rated qb in the NFL last year and was far superior to Campbell then, as well as far more successful then than Campbell is now.
Personally, before I say a person sucks, I would actually like to see him suck. But that's just me.

We're too hard on ARE. True, he's one of the worse PR guys in the league, but he's got pretty good numbers and skills for a number 3 or 4 receiver. He ought to be on the team. Thrash shouldn't. We probably going to have to cut Kelly because of the arthritic condition of his knee.

That will give us Moss, Thomas. Randle EL (at 3) and Davis backing up Cooley or coming on on two TE set. That's pretty thin-- no way to let Randle El go unless we're insane enough to draft a receiver or spend money on an FA receiver.

This has got to be the year of the OL. Got to be. If we can go anywhere else at all it's to a DT. Even poor Marcus will just have to such it up for another year. Also, we need to keep Taylor (on the left) if we can afford him.

Sorry, we're going to have to take a couple of chances for the sake of putting our effort in the OL.

I think that Zorn has the ability to discern both from film and what he has seen on the practice field which QB gives him the best opportunity to win - he may not be as good as many here but he is the HC and that kind of means that he thought that Campbell gave him the best option - duh

I have nothing against Collins or Brennan but I'm pretty sure that:
1) Collins will not be here next year (ONLY because Zorn does not think he's capable)
2) A veteran QB (who has shown that he can handle the WCO) will be brought in
3) Cambell will have some competition to be our starter next year.

I hope that whomever comes here has some ability to make a big impact here because I'm not sure that Campbell has the ability to take the next step - he's a good QB but he just does not seem to be a good fit for whatever reason AND is Brennan ready to take control and will Zorn really give him a decent chance.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Tebow won't be drafted as a QB.

I actually think that ARE would be an improvement over Mmm, Mmm, good!

If the switch would ever flip in Campbell's head he would be great! The problem is, even he doesn't trust himself. When there is a decision to be made he often delays until it is too late. That is why he just slows down and lets people whack him when he scrambles, or he double clutches quick slant, or refuses to throw to a single covered WR.

HE DOESN'T TRUST HIMSELF!

If he had Colt's swagger and quick decision making skills he would be a PB QB.

Colt on the other hand needs to learn when to slow down and get hie feet under him.

I think it is easier to fix Colt than JC.

ARE is ready to go right now, but would only last a few games, because of his size.

I like Jason Campbell, but he obviously hasn't put it all together yet. It's about 50-50 (or 60-40) whether he does or not.

Even his most ardent supporters wouldn't give him an extension now, there's no reason to. Who the hell would throw big money at him next season unless he has a great year in 2009?

It's not like Campbell is going anywhere so why rush an extension? Just let him play 2009 (a contract year is always nice incentive) and if he has a good year, and we win then get him signed up.

You sign him now, you can get him for cheap. You wait and give him the chance to have a great contract year, then you're just giving away money.

He's not in that system anymore, so he's on even ground. Ten years studying the same thing DOES NOT EQUAL one year studying something new. I don't think Collins will be as successful as he was in Saunders' system.

This is one way to play it...would Jason sign for backup money??? He's done nothing to prove he's worth starter money IMO

But if we just keep ARE and keep letting him have these mediocre seasons as our number two reciever then were wasting time and money. He should be a #3 slot receiver. And Moss or Thomas should be returning the punts. But if Moss is always going to be our #1, then ARE has to be a #3 or #4 guy because if he sticks at 2 then when can Thomas and Kelly play. One could be a 3 or 2 over ARE but one would have to be a 4? We have to let them play as starters if we wanna see how good they are

Why we are talking about height..
5 Brennan, Colt 1983-08-16 6'3 201 Hawaii Quarterback

I've talked to Colt a few times and trust me he's not 6'3!!
