Offensive Line

Post by Cooley47 »

I was thinking about today's game against the Eagles and the draft and I was wondering what you all thought about our offensive line for next year.

I wanna see Heyer at LT and Rinehart at LG today and @ SF to see if we can stick with that next year or slide Heyer back to RT and have Samuels go back to Left.

Alot of people are saying we need to draft a tackle and I am absolutely one of them but if Samuels is good for next year and Heyer can play right next year then maybe not... Maybe next year could be Samuels - Rinehart - Rookie(Caldwell from BAMA 1st rd, Mack from CAL or Luigs from ARK 3rd rd. Others?) - Thomas - Heyer... Or Heyer-Rinehart-Rabach-Thomas-Rookie or Rookie-Rine-Rookie-Thomas-Heyer...

Either way I think the Redskins need to find out what they have in Rinehart and Heyer to gauge needs for the draft. Maybe we won't have to draft an OL in the first and we can draft a DL... What do you guys think for next years O-Line?
I miss you 21.

God I wish we had a second round pick.

So do you think we can replace LG C RG and RT or all five? We simply cant keep going with Kendall and Rabach and u might be right about Thomas but we gotta keep someone... right???

Samuels and Rabach stay. Everyone else goes, unless they come back as backups and/or heavy paycuts.

Jansen will be back. He might not play, but he'll be with the team.

Samuels went to the Pro-Bowl, so he MUST have notdone too bad this year. I doubt he's not her at left tackle next year.
...any given Sunday....

Not sure I see where Kendall has played poorly. He's not a star, but neither is Rabach or Heyer. RG and RT are the positions in most need of help. You draft the best G or T you can find, depending on how the draft cookie crumbles and let that guy compete for a job. There are alot of tackles in free agency this year too, depending on which teams re-sign their players.

I do not think so unless he takes a HUGE pay cut.

we ought to trade Samuals today showed we don't need him and he is overrated. He has some value and we can get something for him. Heyer is fine at tackle and put Rhinhart at guard and lets see if we can get a another guard or tackle in the draft.

Sure, trade Samuels. Have any idea what his cap hit would be next year? I think it may be 10 million or so. Yay to that idea.

mentioning the samuels trade you are a braver man than I , I say we get to the point and push that right along, he and a 2nd round would get us a first for sure and I think that makes 2 first round pick for us. however he we can't obtain a 2nd round pick then a third will get us higher in the first round, that i am alomost sure of.

Think, tell me when you would know. He is still overrated and unproductive and we still don't need him.

It would be madness to think we don't need at least three upgrades on the offensive line. Our offense sucked today, as usual. Our first two draft choices must be OL'a and we need FA OL's as well. On D, we should be willing to pay big bucks for a FA DT.

Caldwell and Mack are great choices and would go a long way to help. I'd still try to pick up an classy OG as a free agent. Don't even think of going to other than OL with our first two picks-- that way lies continuing disaster.

Rabach could come back as a backup only, as far as I'm concerned. No way should Jansen be back in any capacity, except maybe as assistant coach.

We need four OL and one great DT.

I don't know who thinks we are going to trade Samuels for a 1 but you are crazy. He is a 30something tackle coming off a bad injury and you are going to get a 1?? No. Remember we do not have a 2 this year. (Please someone tell me I'm wrong). I think they need to see if Samuels can go one more year at LT if not RT and have Heyer play the other one. Jansen is done. Rabach is done. Kendall is done. Offensive line next year could be...

Heyer - Rinehart - Mack - Thomas - Oher

I would at least be excited for the youth and potential. Oher with the 1. Mack with the 3. Maybe another OL or 2 later in the draft for depth.
I miss you 21.

God I wish we had a second round pick.

With a major reshuffling of the offensive line, just how well do you expect Jason to play if that's the supposed main reason for his spotty play?

I agree. But what else can we do?? With the exception of keeping Samuels at LT there is no way we can keep any of the other guys. You have to change at some point if you ever want to get better.
