Why the Skins will win the next 2 games
I am predicting the Skins win the next 2 games. Why you ask?
Psychological pressure. More specifically, a LACK of said pressure.
Now that they are virtually eliminated from the playoffs, the pressure will be off and they will once again start playing up to the level they are capable of.
In the beginning of the year there were very modest expectations for the team. (I.E. - No pressure.) Once they started wining the pressure started mounting. At 6-2, with all the hype and playoff talk, that pressure started to get the best of them. With each subsequent loss the pressure has gotten greater and greater and we have seen worse and worse performances, culminating in the dreadful performance against the Bengals.
The team and the coach have been exhibiting signs of playing/coaching very tightly.
Zorn’s lack of aggressive play calling is one sign and I believe Jason Campbell summarized it yesterday from the players perspective on the Doc Walker show, "I've just been trying to not make mistakes." he said.
This is a sure way to fail.
The first 7 or 8 games they played to WIN. Since 6-2 they have been playing not to lose!
Anyway…these are just my impressions but is seems a reasonable assessment to a fat old white dude like me.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions - in my opinion we can win both these games if the players play to the level they are both capable of and are prepared to by the coaches.
Players execute plays and are not affected by "pressure to succeed" situations - that stuff is way over-rated in my opinion.
This game is really simple - execution and desire to be better than who you are playing against.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

If the skins are suffering from "pressure to succeed" and this is in fact the reason they've failed, what will change next year? Isn't the "pressure to succeed" the whole purpose of the game?

I am not predicting the Skins will win against the Eagles, but it won't surprise me at all if they do. All of the pressure is on the Eagles right now.

The Redskins WILL NOT beat the Eagles, plain and simple. Jim Johnson will blitz like mad, Campbell will get pummeled, no running room for Portis, and the Defense will give up 3rd and long all day to a scrambling McNabb and an elusive Westbrook.
This has got to have been of the more frustrating years of being a fan I have had.

The Redskins can win both. They need to stop worrying about making mistakes, and GO HARD for once!! I mean they already been making mistakes trying to be conservative. Let it all hang out, and chips will fall were they fall...

We're going to win out. The Eagles aren't that good and putting the final nail in the coffin would just be too sweet. Also, at this point losing close means nothing so we go for it. Our reconstituted O line also had time to pull together more too. Then going to SF without having to think about getting back to the East coast somewhere for a playoff game takes that pressure off too.
You're totally right wormer, we win out.

That depends on which Eagles you're talking about. Some Sundays, the Eagles are just sickening in sync, and sometimes, they're worse than the skins. It's a coin toss on which team will show up every week, so don't say the Eagles "aren't that good" b/c their record reflects they're better than we are.

I think Wormer is on to somthing here and I totally agree. When we play loose, and have nothing to lose, things seem to go well. Although, knowing this team, we will proably beat the team we shouldnt in the eagles and lose to the team we should beat. It would be nice to screw up the eagles season though...

winning isn't everything it is the only thing, I say they win because they always barley make it or just do good enough to pull something off.

As far as the topic is concerned, I totally agree about the play of the team, but may disagree with the next two outcomes. I too, have noticed that Zorn lost his fire to win and was playing not to lose. I felt the same way with Campbell not TRYING to fit the ball in there or just being late with the ball just because the receiver wasn't WIDE open when he first looked to him. This team (mainly offense) has taken on the personality of it's coach, which right now, is a man trying not to lose. He should be trying to win instead.
You'll always be remembered Sean. R.I.P.

Bingo.
This[ has got to have been of the more frustrating years of being a fan I have had.
Not quite but it is close for me.
While I can still understand the disadvantage of a new Head Coach, a new system to a point, and a "developing" QB, they under-achieved when it counted the most.
We needed help at OL and DL and EVERY fan knew it for a long time. We KNEW that we were an injury away from disaster coming into this season and ... surprise, surprise, it happened. Walking into the abyss with our eyes wide open.
The part that is the MOST frustrating to me is the CUMULATIVE effect of many mediocre and losing seasons during the Dan Snyder era.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Our play faltered before the injuries occured though..unless you count Griffin starting the decline off earlier.

True that.
However, the point is that while without injuries we could have had a chance to make a late recovery effort, with injuries we are pretty well doomed.
And yes, Griff's injury negated any hope in hell for a rush up the middle too.

I don't think it's the injuries completely, I think that the o line ran out of gas as well.

We just don't have the talent at QB, on the O-line, or the receiving corps to sustain 13 play drives all day without a penalty, a sack, an incompletion on third down, a completion short of the sticks on third down, a turnover, etc... this west coast offense needs to be extremely efficient to rack up points and we aren't capable of that... our only chance to score big points is to make big plays, but that's hard to do when you're taking one shot a game... I just don't see how we can score enough points unless our D comes up with some...
