In fact, he's had far less opportunities than Kelly. But also, Thomas has made quite a few mistakes too (see below) and I think Kelly has been the one to impress the coaches the most in practice, where these guys get the most reps together.
"Forget" (you all know what I wanted to say) practice. That darned redskins blog says they look great in practice and then they go out week in-week out and lay a darned egg.
During game day...
Who do you see fighting and ripping for extra yards? Thomas.
Who makes catches? Thomas.
Who has dropped many of their few passes? Kelly.
Has Kelly broken a tackle? No.
Has he used his height to his advantage? Yes but he dropped it.
It's that simple.
Damn dude, you missed the most the point entirely. I DON'T CARE ABOUT PRACTICE EITHER! THAT'S NOT THE POINT!
I highlighted the part you seemed to have missed.
I actually like what I see from Davis, especially the way he runs and the physicality he shows while the ball is in his hands. But he has made mistakes too.
The reason why I mentioned practice is because that's where these guys get a multitude of reps,
side-by-side, 4-5 days a week. Therefore, there's more visual evidence from practice for the coaches to go on when making their evaluations. The fact is, due to Kelly's injuries and being inactive for the previously mentioned numbers game, there simply isn't enough game-time evidence for fans to make a realistic and fair judgment. Therefore, I give the coaches the
benefit of the doubt with regard to their comments and decisions, since they've seen these guys run routes, side-by-side, 100 times a week in practice.
