Is Steve.....

Post by roybus14 »

Smith better than Santana Moss or is it a case of Steve getting more opportunities than Santana???

Your thoughts.....

Here's mine. If you look at them right now, Smith is the better WR because he's getting the work. He also has the benefit of Mushin Muhammad across from him, a QB with time to throw and a two-headed monster running the ball. So when teams game-plan for him, they really can't because they have to account for Muhammad and the run game.

Santana has proven to me that in space and given the opportunities, he's a playmaker. But unless this team can turn it around on offense and get him touches, he will be another one of the WRs that you will say, "damn, if he only had the opportunities, he'd be one of the greats."

I love Santana, and think he's great, but there is no way he's close to Steve Smith.

Santana can get shut down by a double team (and has been)...whereas Smith is doubled every freaking week, and still gets open.

Smith has 6 1000 yard seasons, Santana has 2, though statistically they're very similar otherwise. Played in the same number of games (71), have same number of TDs (42); Smith has more receptions (Smith has 492, Santana has 412), and 700 more yards career.

Steve smith is hands down better, of course. But i am surprised to see how close their career numbers are.

Steve Smith is like a Santana Moss on Steroids.

A little bigger, stronger and maybe even faster.

Agreed. I mean... what's the point of this thread? What purpose does that question serve?

Put the two on the same team with the same system, same coaches, same QB and same offensive players... then make the comparison. I agree Smith is probably the better player, but who cares? He's not on our team and we aren't going to trade for him. It's a pointless question that serves no purpose other than to ridicule, degrade and disparage a player and/or the team... once again.

I beg to differ sir. Steve Smith is just a WR compared to Michael Westbrook who is a RB. IMO is Westbrook lines up at the slot or WR spot, he'd be as dangerous if not more dangerous than Steve Smith. They are the same "elusiveness" except westbrook is actually better after the catch.
