And your point is what? The problem isn't the run game. It's the passing game. It's the same exact running game we had the past 1000 years, he knows what to do.
And the blocking scheme crap is BS because they FAILED TO BLOCK WITH SELLERS AND BETTS IN THE GAME!

This could be a very bad thing for the Redskins. In this case, no matter who wins, Zorn or Portis, it could divide the team. Our side against your side. Nothing will tear a team apart faster than internal fighting. I seriously doubt that Snyder will let Zorn get rid of Portis. I would think that Zorn is more at risk.
My greatest fear is that the Redskins will bring in Cowher. I hope God is a Redskins fan and decides on divine intevention to help us if that happens. Cowher won one Super Bowl in 15 years and now he is suddenly entitled to be the know all coach with all the right answers to come in one day and lead to a Super Bowl the next day. Isn't going to happen! Dennis Green is a great example. He was great with the Vikings but failed miserably in Arizona.
It seems that in several posts lately, someone has meantioned Gibbs and how great he was. He wasn't great the 2nd time. Internal issues were one of the problems with Gibbs II, every year there was always some player issue; Ramsey, Pierce, Clark, Arrington, Brunell to name a few. There were more people calling for Gibbs removal than are now calling for Zorns.

I love CP, I think CP is right in his assessment of the situation. I also think CP needs to go because he is not capable of expressing his views in any manner that is productive and not extremely divisive. It does not seem that players from The U took many communications classes while they are in school.
Drinking the Kool-Aid again...
The best thing that Jim Zorn can do to save his credibility with this team is put the screws to Portis. If he doesn't, he's done in that lockerroom.
Clinton Portis is one of the best blocking backs in the game. If you gonna sit him down for missing a block, then sit down Sellers who just stood there while two Ravens went right by him.
I think, like I said before, that Zorn is in over his head. I give him kudos for getting us to 6-2 but now it appears to be an abberation and that the league has caught up with him and his coaching. It appears that this team is slowly slipping away from him and I think that CP's quotes on Coach Thompson's show outlines frustration that has been there and come to a head. If someone could get
ey to talk, he would spill the beans. If Sonny and Sam could corner him, they could probably get the truth out of him about this team.
I have had my issues with CP but he is still a pretty damn good back and this season he has given more than anybody on this team outside of London. To bench him and give the excuse about him not practicing and knowing the blitz packages is laughable and reaching. He should have been benched against Pittsburgh and Dallas then. Zorn is trying to cover up the issues with the O-Line by making Clinton the scapegoat. Betts and Sellers can't pass block worth a damn. Okay he fumbled, not like one poster here said he gave the ball away, but that happens especially if you have a LB pulling your left arm and Reed ripping at the ball in your right.
Zorn better make his stand or he will or has lost this team. CP didn't say anything that wasn't on point. Like I said, get
ey on a show like that and you will probably get the same thing or something close.

Heres my point:
On his health: "I'm fine. I'm totally healthy after not playing against Baltimore. So the good thing about it is I'll be at practice tomorrow."
I like CP, but I like a healthy CP better. Anyone care to venture a guess as to how many times CP has gone off the field injured this season? I'm thinking he leads the league. I'm for letting the coach do what he was hired to do, make decisions to better this football team.

Nobody said this when Zorn was being very candid about how he felt about players early in the season?
So it's ok for a coach to do it?

Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember one particular play where Sellers was the blocker. Two defensive players were coming in from the left side and Sellers did not even try to block them. He put his hand up for the 2nd guy but let the first one go by on the left and get Camppbell.
Seems to me if that had been Portis, at least one of those defensive guys would have been on the ground.

Thats why Portis is pissed, the reason Zorn gave for benching him was bull.

Zorn has been pretty vocal piblically about players. If he can dish it out and can't take it, there si going to be more trouble in the future than this.
No way CP should go, he's the heart and soul of this team. Nobody plays harder than him, that man gives it everything he has and hustles more than anyone esle on the offensive side of the ball. He is correct in his assessment of the situation in my opinion in that the reason Zorn gave for him not being on the field in his presser is B.S. How can the coach sit there and say he'd rather have Betts in there for blocking situations weeks after calling Portis the best blocking back in the NFL? Zorn screwed up in his presser and he called out our best offensive player while doing so.

Umm...actually he did. You've already forgotten when he got injured in pre-season and criticized Gibbs for playing him?

Does anyone remember that Portis' fumble was caused by Rabach? Go back and look at the play. Rabach came in late and pushed Portis and the the two defensive guys forward probably trying to gain some yardage. Look at the play really close if you have a recording. Portis was OK and holding th ball until Rabach. I am not going to hold that fumble against Portis but Rabach.
interesting article thanks!
I think he gives equal spankings to Coach Z(for benching him & not using him correctly/giving him mixed signals) & JC(who 'sat on his ass all game long').
kinda wonder, can this be a benching in hopes of winning 1-2 more games at the end?(since the O wasn't clicking at all this game)
maybe a McNabb one game benching will help JC revert back to early season, and not to preseason mode?

And see, Czaban and Pollin didn't even ask Zorn why didn't he bench Sellers for missing that block that resulted in a sack. Sellers is not a pass blocker. He's a run blocker. But to take your star back who has played hurt every week for the past six or more to task over something so stupid is ridiculous.
You know, I chalk Zorn's first season up this way. Zorn was a pitcher just called up from AAA. The first series against opponents, he looked great. That second series and beyond not that the hitters have tape on him, his ERA is +7. They've figured him out. This league figured him right around 6-2 or 6-3. He has done a terrible job of making adjustments with his game-planning and playcalling and getting this team, specifically the offense ready to give a better effort. If you OL is hurting then make the adjustment. He hasn't done that....

You may be onto something but it's hard to hold onto the ball when a LB is pulling your left arm and Reed is pulling your right one with the ball in it.

Show me one team where a back is stopped a lineman doesn't come up and try to push the pile forward....you can't even THINK to blame Rabach for that.
As for CP and JZ... we've all known that CP isn't tactful. He's going to speak his mind bluntly. He's not going to be the scapegoat. Slighting CP is not going to win any sympathy for JZ's offense. As stated, this is the same running game that we had previously, which is too much for 1 back to handle; I don't care who it is. Now that JZ's broken CP's back with the sheer number of carries, he's going to throw CP under the bus? That's wrong as wrong can be.

Did you catch CP last words...I be at practice this week. Trust me as a coach you want everyone at practice it could be this simple. It will only blow up if they continue to lose.

Portis is the player but I don't like Zorn going public either. I had Schocky in mind when I made the comment but I did not think I needed to mention I was thinking of a white guy to protect myself from someone thinking I meant race. The U guys all seem to have poor communication skills based on a false sense of entitlement. Given that Portis is fast approaching an age where he could break down it would seem a good opportunity for Zorn to draw a line and move on. I highly doubt the Skins will be competitive next year either with no O or D line - so make the point that poor behavior won't be tolerated. Of course if we were winning I would feel the opposite.
