Stop giving up!
What is wrong with Redskin Nation??? This season is not over by a long run. Call me delusional but we are better off than we were last year after the Bills game and CERTAINLY better than 3 years ago when we were 5-6... Am I the only one who won't give up??? I know we're hurt. I know were losing. And I know we don't have Joe Gibbs. But here you go.
Redskins win on sunday vs Bengals. (If they lose I will start looking for the draft too)
Cowboys lose vs the Giants on sunday
Falcons lose on sunday to Bucs
We control our on destiny... Am I crazy!? I don't see why people are giving up! It is not over people! As long as there is a mathematical chance I will not give up on this team and neither should anyone else. Last year we had to win @ New York, @ Minnesota and beat the 1 team in the NFC down the stretch and 3 years ago we had to win @ Philly, vs NY and vs Dallas. This year is nothing.
I still believe. I hope you all do to.

It's not about giving up. It's about this football team not being very good. This isn't even an average football team. Losing to the Rams, playing the Lions close, etc. If we were struggling but getting better then it would be one thing, but we are actually getting worse. We have a qb that isn't very good right now, a garbage oline and dline, lack playmakers at wr, a coach that looks lost, and despite having 10 players drafted only one has contributed in a meaningful way. And to top of it all we have Vinny in charge of personnel decisions

that about sums up my feelings as well.
Bruce has the authority. When Bruce makes the decision, it's a Redskins decision.

I agree. There's still a chance, so I'm hoping for the best.
Again, though, it's hard to watch the offense. And now there's apparently an issue with Portis and Zorn. I read that Zorn isn't happy that Portis doesn't practice much during the week, but how stupid is it to bench the team's best offensive player in the most important game of the year?
If Portis was missing practice for no reason, that's one thing, but he takes a pounding each week. If he's ready to play on Sunday, he should play -- no question.

I agree that at times we have not been a good team but look at our defense last night minus the final drive, the game against Dallas, @ Philly vs AZ, Defense against Cle. This team CAN play. It is up to London, Clinton, JASON and the offensive line. But above all else we gotta see Zorn earn his spot.
To answer your q yes it is good TB lost cuz now we can technically catch them too but they have too easy a schedule down the stretch for us to catch them... The top 5 are set in my mind. We need TB or, in desperation, Minnesota to beat ATL and NY to take out Dallas or somehow Philly in week 17, and if we take care of business we enter as a 6 seed and go to AZ... This season is NOT over. I believe in what CP can do in December. This is a team of fighters that refuses to quit, last night is exhibit A. We never gave up.
Keep the faith!
21 forever.

Here is the wild card standings as of now
Tampa 9-4
Dallas 8-5
Atlanta 8-5
Philly 7-5-1
Washington 7-6
Chicago 7-6
New Orleans 7-6
-Even though Dallas is ahead of us, we can still by pass them because they got an angry New York Giants team next week, than the Ravens, and at Philly to close it out. They might go 8-8.
-Tampa I don't see us by passing them because they have at Atlanta give or take a w or l, but they have San Diego and Oakland to finish out.
-Atlanta on the other hand has the Bucs, than at Vikings which they can possibly loose, than the rams.
-Philly has it a little bit easier they got the Browns, but we have them at home, and than they play Dallas. But if we beat them, we have the tie breaker. So thats not a huge worry, we just have to beat them.
-While the Bears have the Saints, Packers, and Texans. This can range from 3-0 to 0-3. If they win out, and we take care of business we still go over them for conference record.
No, the season is not over, looking at remaining schedules I think we pass Chicago and New Orleans. Atlanta will probably loose to Tampa so I think we will pass them. We play Philly at home so its very possible we knock them out. Dallas can very well go 0-3, there banged up offensively. But in order to do this the Redskins got to take care of business, beat Cincy, than Philly, than San Fran. San Fran and Cincy are not hard. I think we will beat Cincy, but Philly is a make or break game, if we loose that game we can piss our season down the drain.

First off..
Big Mahalos (thanks) to Chris
ey -for his blog-- love the fun & insight to my favorite team & C.P.- started out as everybody's MVP & all-World RB-- and after running his body to the point of damage, the likes of which got Lee Majors $6 million worth of bionic parts, he STILL goes out and all heart and Burgandy soul, fights on. Couple of other reasons to cheer-- Hall, Horton & Landry.
OK-- I just want to blow some sunshine.
The reason things are so heartbreaking as of late, is that our hopes were taken to Everest levels and we believed our own hype. After the Dallas & Philly wins, alot of us had such joy and content with our world.
I can just hope, that at some point, Zorn stops the conservative (dare I say scared) calls and and goes ballzout for the rest. I hope he can find something (anything) that works and we can cheer again.
Hip Hip Hail!

We are not dead at all. But we have no O Line, d line, pass rush, kicking game and a coach who looks like a deer in the headlights. The previous seasons when the team had strong finishes followed poor starts, here we have the opposite situation. But for me the biggest problem with this team is the lack of heart and pride - without that they have no chance.

There will be no tie-breaker with Philly since they tied CIN this year...
We have a tough road ahead, but the cautious optimism is needed. The offense just can't produce. Now with BOTH Ts out, the outside running game is severely hindered. That means that the interior running lanes SHOULD be clogged if the opposing D coords have 1/2 a brain. It will be on the shoulders of Jason, Santana, Chris, Antwan, Devin, Malcolm, Todd, and (god I hope not)James. The Skins have to be perfect and get a little help from the outside.

I'm positive about a ton of things, I'm very satisfied with the teams potential. As far as playoffs are concerned, I think it's a joke. We're going to get into the playoffs with a 10 point per game average and do what when we get there?

I'll be happy for the team but I won't expect them to do anything when they get there. At most I expect them to win 2/3 of the next games, I think 1/3 is a bit more realistic but only time will tell.
I don't see how people think the passing game is going to magically improve enough to do anything significant.
We have a bum kicker. We bumbled our way into the endzone last week. We're averaging 10 points a game, a slew of procedural penalties. Poor Jason is getting nailed every week, WR's are dropping passes. The opposing team cares more about the saftey of our QB than our team does, warning him to alter is pass protection... Both tackles are most likely gone.
That's not negativity, those are facts. Maybe some people want to run from them but they aren't going away. People can avoid them all they want Mon-Sat on the message boards but they can't run from them on Sunday.

Oh I hear you Chris, I'm a realist too... the 6-2 start got folk's expectations up...I kept mind where it was. I didn't think this team was a playoff team. My bigest problem it that they are not improving, coaches included. I will still root for themright down to the last second of the last game!!

Give me a break. I hope you read Wilbon's column this morning:
Don't tell me this is about the quarterback, which is the overly simplistic and completely naive story line Washingtonians traditionally fall in love with. We knew Campbell, in his first full season as a starter, would be a work in progress, and he is. But what he needs is the time to go through his progressions. What he has, operating behind a line that can be pushed around, is barely enough time to throw to his first read.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 03484.html
Overly simplistic and naive are really the key words there.

I'm sure we're still mathematically very much in the playoff race. But somebody said it earlier in this thread correctly that we're just not very good. With Samuels out this is probably even more true.
Either way, I hope the team goes out fighting.

Good post. Also from Wilbon's article...
Look, nobody wanted to believe what Clinton Portis said on the eve of the season about this team's offensive line being average at best, but Portis was right. It's not that his linemen can't play well enough some weeks and it's not that they can give any more than they have; it's that individually and collectively they're not good enough.
<snip>
But all that stuff, Zorn vs. Portis and Campbell's evolution, is secondary. The lack of great line play is primary, and it's the fault of the people selecting the talent.
<snip>
The Redskins' failure to contend this year has precious little to do with quarterback play, how desperately the players want to win or Zorn's play-calling. Every minute spent examining those things is needlessly diverting precious time from addressing what's actually wrong with the team.
If the Redskins spend the next two offseasons acquiring (mostly through the draft) offensive and defensive linemen they might be able to protect Campbell and stop running backs like Brandon Jacobs and Marion Barber from embarrassing them.
I don't always agree with Wilbon, but in this case, he's right. The failure to address the lines has now caught up with the team. We have the skill players, it's time for a youth movement along both lines.

Even if we don't make the playoffs we could still go out there and get 3 wins and finish the season 10-6! We've already played against the hardest teams we will face this year, and especially the toughest defenses in the NFL. HAIL OFFENSE!!
