Sean Taylor doesn't want to be a Skin?

Post by Magoo »

This is from Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback article posted today on CNNSI.com.

6. I think I'm hearing ominous signs out of Washington that first-round pick Sean Taylor does not want to be a Redskin. But I wouldn't expect Joe Gibbs to be too worried. He'll figure this one out.

Where is this coming from? Have you guys in the area heard any of these kind of rumblings? Maybe firing his agent has something to do with this.

... it's Peter King spewing rumor garbage.

This has never been reported anywhere but a Broncos message board so far as I know and it stemmed strictly from the fact that Taylor fired Drew Rosenhaus.

... it was probably Champ bailey himself just tossing one more iron on the fire

I have no proof that Taylor wants to be a Skin... I just don't think there's any that he doesn't want to either.

I have not heard anything like that around here. Coming from Peter King worries me since King is a respectable NFL insider that does not open his mouth unless it has merit.
If it was Lenny Meatballs or Dr. Z Cowboy then I would laugh it off.

We'll have to watch this one. For the record, the news reports since the draft have been very positive about Taylor...except for his shorts falling down during practice.

I hope you're right, Boss.

I gotta agree with you oafusp that King has more cred than Lenny-P.

Maybe Eli started a trend?

Well, when Portis was first traded, he claimed that Sean Taylor called him on the phone and told him he hopes the Redskins pick him up.

I'm not wrong am I? Didn't think so.

So that means that either Portis was kidding around or King doesn't know what he is talking about.

See man, if this rumour holds true then I was absolutely right. I got blasted for saying Eli was going to start a horrible trend. If this is true lets see how everyone feels about it IF it affects our beloved skins!

King may have more merit than Lenzy...not quite sure about that...but do know that he's a Skin hater...always has been
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.

I know this is only a rumor but it just doesnt make any sense. The guy seemed delighted to be on the team. And from what I heard he and Lavar really hit it off. He is going to be paid well and start in a high profile market. What else could he ask for? This just has to be BS filler garbage because as BH stated there is little else going on to report about the Redskins. I have prayed and will continue to do so in the hopes that he does not sign with the Postons.

Have all of you forgotten the press conference and all the statements Taylor has made about be excited to be here and looking forward to "earning his stripes" and playing with such great players and coaches?

Don't buy this, fellas. It's plain untrue.

First it was Rod Gardener that was leaving then Chris Samuels and now Sean Taylor. Gosh, this is getting old!!!!!!!!

Watch pretty soon there will discussions about trading him for a real good pass rusher.

yeah. the romurs this year are out of control. so what's the source of this rumor?

with samuels, it turned out that gallery's people were planting the romurs that the skins might trade for him as part of their draft day strategy.

with gardner, it's only reasonable to see him as a potential trade with the teams signing so many recievers and having needs at other spots.

but this - it comes out of left field. have any of the guys in the DC area on sports radio or local news even talked about this? for us guys - way, way, way - outside the beltway, writers like King are the only sports radio type of news we get about the skins.

Peter King gives really good insight. In my experience he is right much more often then he is wrong.

This worries me.

The only way that I'll believe this is if Sean Taylor signs with the Poston brothers.

And to answer your question Magoo...I have not heard any local radio station or any local news station report this.

Personally i think that all the rumors are good for football but i dont think Sean Taylor is disappointed he got drafted by us.I think that this would be an ideal place for him simply because you have former Miami players with you to help you make the transition and also the fact the best player on our team is excited to have him. I think that the guy who started the rumor really doesnt care for Dan Snyder and it simply makes his job more interesting when he stirs up controversy. Redskins Fan dont panic because we are almost over the hump. Joe Gibbs will bring back the intensity we need.

As fans we need to be prepared to make Fed Ex Field a "living hell" for opposing teams. I think that is the difference between RFK and FED EX, is that at RFK the fans were in the game at all times you could be outside the stadium at the metro and know that the crowd was into it. I think as true "Redskin" fans we need to step and let the opposing team and their fans know who stadium they have just entered and let them know for 60-80 minutes that it doesnt look good for both of them.

Well, Patrick Ramsey (through his agent) said he wanted to split town very publicly and now what's happened. This isn't a big deal. It is just a rumor. I mean, King says, " I think I'm hearing ominous signs out of Washington." He THINKS he's HEARING ominous SIGNS! Could he be more vague?!? He didn't say, "I'm hearing that Sean Taylor does not want to be a Redskin" and I am sure that he has chosen this language very carefully to show that this is a rumor and it may have absolutely no basis. I'm not buying it until something else comes out. He is a respected professional journalist of course. What's more, he adds that Joe Gibbs WILL "figure this one out." C'mon people, don't get worried about this... yet.

I think he was making "filler" for his article by falsely making the conclusion that since Taylor fired Rosenhaus, that he doesn't want to be a Redskin.

The rumor made its way to the Chat House at washingtonpost.com with the PTI guys.

http://discuss.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/zforum/04/r_sports_tkwilbon051004.htm

See below:

Washington, D.C.: In Peter King's "Monday Morning Quarterback" column today, he says the word coming out of DC is that Sean Taylor doesn't want to be a Redskin. Have you guys heard anything on this? Thanks.

Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon: I don't know anything about that. Peter King talks to more people than I do. If he doesn't want to be a Redskin, there is one sure way: get the Poston brothers as your agent. --Tony

This is a very slow news time for NFL beat reporters. Mini camps are over, draft is long gone, June 1st cuts not for a few weeks and training camp is ways away. Even Peter King (who I agree is way more legit than Lenny Potato-head) needs some filler material. Hell, he was even sort of backing out of it by saying Joe would figure it out. To para-phrase, "there's a B.S. rumor about Sean Taylor not wanting to ba a Redskin. There's no truth to it, but since I've got nothing else to report, here it is." Plus, it is kind of hard to believe that Portis would plead Taylors case to Gibbs if he didn't want to come to Washington. Just a slow news day, that's all.
Build through the draft!
