Another question from a puke fan...
How do you guys feel about gluing a team together? I like the fact that Danny is willing to spend money(maybe too much at times) and in this leage you have to over pay! But to chang almost every position could cause some problems. I look at the pros. and cons and don't like it.(
well I do because i'm a puke fan) thoughts?

I don't like it because it never really turns out. But since it never really turns out for the best, at least I have A LOT of cards of the new guys we brought in! That was the ONLY thing that was slightly enjoyable about signing Deion. Because I could add all of his cards that I had to my "former defensive Redskins" book of cards!

I gotta admit that it's pretty odd hearing a cowboy fan refer to themselves as a "puke fan," but I guess when in Rome (or DC?). . . .
Much like the salary cap issue, SeanoverRoy, I think that a lot of the general criticism of the Skins comes because of a larger disliking of Daniel Snyder. True, we have had some bad turnover in the last few years (especially right after that 2000 disaster involving Deion, George and others); however if you look at our team over the past 3 years or so it's gotten a bit better relative to the rest of the league. We kept a reasonably "core" group of guys in Arrington, Champ, Samuels, Jansen, Iffy, Smoot, Ramsey--all relatively young guys that had veterans positioned around them.
2000 was the worst, and I'd call that a glue job along with you, but I don't think it's been as bad in recent years. As for the future, we've all read the stories about Gibbs assuring fans that he believes holding a core group of Redskins together can work. Right now we've acquired some guys, yet Gibbs has made it clear that he's looking for guys that will stick around for a while.
So I guess my question would be what is it to "glue" a team together? Any effort like the current one by Gibbs/Snyder which has long-term focus is the way to go (in my opinion).
Besides, if Gibbs says that it's true that this can work, I'm going to believe that over ESPN analysis any day of the week.

I dont believe you guys are falling for this Pukes, "indirect slap in the face questions."

Its not what we think pukefan. It is what you think?? We like our team through thick and thin.
I was wondering if your coach 'Parcells' will attend "Weight Watchers?"

This is a legitimate concern about our team. Every team has its issues. If I asked a Cowboys fan how they thought their running game was going to look with Julius Jones carrying the load, is that a slap in the face? No, it's not. The running game is a concern for the Cowboys. Chemistry is a concern for the Redskins.
I have to say, this is a little embarassing...

If it is the fact that our owner wants to win...that not embarrasing.?.?..
What is embarrasing is the fact we have all this talent and came in at 5-11.

the fact is that with all these new faces, chemistry could be a problem.. it was last year - speaking from a defensively minded person's point of view - our defense was a shambles, people going rogue, looking confused, dropping assignments, playing out of position.
The answer, once again seanoverroy, is simply coaching. Your team had many similar problems to the Skins the three years you were 5-11. Parcells came in and cleaned some problems up, made a few roster moves, changed the atmosphere and the lack of discipline and took them to 10-6.
With a lot more talent, we have a coach who gameplans to live, is competitive to the end of the world, watches film til his eyes are swollen shut, and shoot - in his first meeting with his new DC he was already discussing ways on an eraserboard on how to beat blitzing defenses, JUST FOR FUN.
The players feel it, and are playing harder than ever. They are trying harder than ever. They are putting aside issues to play for Joe. They are taking back problems such as LA playing end on passing downs and making them rethink their attitudes.
That and bringing in people who WANT to be Skins... that will aid in chemistry a lot.

Me personally i think Dan Synder is just have one hell of a learning curve, i think that he has tried some things that may have back-fired but he is one to stay persistent and with that he will eventually get a superbowl ring. I also think that alot of people in the NFL envy Dan Synder because:
1- he's younger
2- he's going against basically everything the league was accustomed too
3- he's forcing other teams to do certain things that before they would not have thought of ex. restricted free agents, champ-portis trade
I truly believe that the redskins will get back to there winning ways but it is just a process, nothing really good happens overnight. I think with Gibbs coming back Snyder has instantly put himself and the organization a great position to accomplish alot of things. ( I kind of feel bad for Parcells now though because he will not be able to get over on Gibbs like he did with Spurrier)
Redskins 11-5 record based on the team will be disciplined and have one heck of an running attack which you definitely need in the NFC East.

Hahaha, I have tried for 2 days to stay out of these threads...they are pretty lame.
Look, it is obvious that these "good questions" are sarcastic. This dude is just trying to get a rise out of anyone he can.
I think it is funny how some people are defending someone that is probably sitting at their computer with 3 of their buddies wearing Michael Irvin jerseys and laughing at every post they get back.
Whatevs, just wanted to give my thoughts on the "crap" that has been on here lately.
As for the "legit question"...well dude, why dont you use the search feature on the site and locate the answers to the same question you asked...cause it has been asked...dozens of times....and it always turns into a 3 page thread and the question is likely asked by punk cowboy fan that is just trying to make sparks fly.
Next time...man up...and just post what you really mean, and that will likely be in the Smack Forum.
For those that are gullible...it's ok. It just means you have a good conscience and want to share your opinion....even if it is with a dude whose motive was to get a rise out of you...not hear what you have to say.

Could he be the NFL's version of Mark Cuban, with better fashion sense?
Back and better than ever!

The bottom line is the coaching staff. If Gibbs was running the show 5 years ago, some of those players might have been stalwarts for the Skins. I look at coaches like John Fox walking into a lockerroom full of dissenters. A team that loses every year, which gets criticized for poor personnel moves every year. John Fox, starts "coaching up" these same "poor players" and low and behold, they can play! and people talk about how talented they are now. All of the sudden, Lenny Pasquarelli wants to talk about their good personnel moves! Two years ago, lenny didn't have a kind word to say about the Panthers. Gibbs will weed out the players who should go and "coach up" the ones with the right attitudes. Soon, sports reporters (not Lenny cause he's a Skin-hater) will be talking about the brilliant move to sign Coles and Bowen as restricted FA's and sending Bailey for Portis and passing on whiny Winslow for Pro-bowler
