You bring up a point that my friends and I discussed while watching the Skins and Ravens yesterday. Flacco and Jason are in similiar situations.

- Average offensive line
- Non existant WR's outside of one guy
- Stellar TE
- Stellar running game
- Defense that will keep you in any game

Yet, why is Flacco lighting up the stats?

Seriously, you all need to cool on the Flacco talk. He has 12 TDs and 9 INTs on the season. Yes, he had 280 yards and 2 TDs yesterday, but...it was against the BENGALS. He's thrown for over 250 yards ONCE this season...that one game. Despite playing some less than wonderful pass defenses.

He's a rookie... And sadly I have to watch a lot of Ravens games and the kids is dark nice for a rookie. It is what it is...

No Flacco isn't lighting it up. But the fact that we are even comparing JC to Flacco, a rookie, (they are VERY similar statistically) is a bad sign.

I've been a big fan of JC for a long time (Ray N Austin and I have gotten into a lot on this subject), but I am slowly starting to think that JC just doesn't have what it takes to by anything more than an average NFL qb. I'm not totally giving up on him, but I think that this offseason we should consider drafting a qb. This year's draft is going to be one of the best for qb's in a while and it'll be possible to get a 2nd round qb talent in the 3rd or 4th round.

I know the team has some more wins left so the ravens will be first. kelly and thomas should play and the skins should open up throwing the ball. With moss and a few succesful 3 wide sets they could very well compensate for the lack of any running game.
I love watching and waiting to see what the hecks going on.

Exactly. You're not going to draft 3 QB's over the course of 5 drafts. That's reaching and the mistake the Lions made by taking a WR every year. Whether we play JC or Colt, we'll be fine with what we have. Zorn is the best guy for our QB's, so I believe we'll be fine at that position.

 C'mon don't hate on the rookie. He and that cat from ATL are doing amazing for rookies and guess what....they're winning. Plus I saw Flacco throw a perfect bomb on Sunday... It was throw ahead of the WR and to his outside shoulder...and not 6 yards short where the defender can easily intercept it...

Umm... Flacco is lighting it up? :hmm:

Flacco is currently the 20th rated QB in the league. Campbell is currently rated 12th, ahead of guys like Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning, Matt Cassel, McNabb and Kerry Collins. But none of that means anything unless the players around you are performing and contributing. Rivers is 2nd on that list, by the way, but the Chargers are awful this year, so it must be all Rivers fault.

You mean Colt Brennan? That guy is a joke. I'm talking about drafting a qb that actually has a chance to amount to something in the NFL.

err, I'm not advocating starting Colt but it's probably a tad bit early to conclude he is a QB without any shot of making it in the NFL. I mean Cassell was a guy who didn't even start for his college team ... granted, it was a college team that was historically deep at QB but you can't really know until they get thrown into the fire.

the skins are set with talent guys, we have alot of great "skill players"
wr, hb, qb ect. The experience of the oline gives zorn and his offense some looks on offense and, I believe that zorn and his "crystal ball" will be able to surprise everybody. the QB situation is good JC can do several different things and I hope the young recievers can, with improved route running and good hands, haul in some passes, along w/ cooly to open things up down the field; because that is a great way to take some heat off of portis and move the defense away from the running lanes to prevent portis from becoming side swiped by a defensive lineman while portis is taking on the tackler, after all, I also have seen portis finish many runs of well enough to push for a few extra yards and earn 1st downs. 8) THAT WINS FOOTBALLGAMES FOR THE SKINS  HAIL MR.PORTIS

My :

JC will not succeed in this system. He's more of a downfield thrower. These quick reads are not where he will excel.

The bigger problem is that JC is not suited to this system and JZ's trying to convert him. I believe that he can succeed in a more vertical game, but this system, this O-Coord will not happen. He releases too slow. From the limited action I saw, I believe that as some said earlier in the year, Brennan is JZ's man. He scrambles and makes things happen. JZ said that Brennan was wild, he never put down his talent or potential. I believe that we see Brennan in the next two years.

As for this season? If Zorn doesn't start going for the throat THIS WEEK, we're thru. The NFC north is taken names, and they might take our spot of last year with both Wild Card positions.

brennan is way talented and i do watch cambell float some and lag some,
but I am not the eye in the sky, thats jason cambells position and he starts, I would rather see the skins leave cambell and let portis and the rest of the offense gel together and start making plays. "it is the little things that make an offense click"....

Having said that, this team is one BIG question mark each and every week. What team will show up? Scizophrenic I tell you. And exasperating.

Still, we hope...

Portis got about as many yards as I expected he'd get against the Giants (zip), and further dinged up as well. If Zorn didn't lose the locker room last Sunday, he never will. Cooley almost blurted out his frustration and had to bite his tongue. What does that tell you? Frankly, it tells me that Zorn entered into the game with a tactically hopeless game plan; and in relation to the season and the playoffs, a fatally flawed strategic one.

GASP!!!! I must be seeing things.

On a side note, you want to give JC three years, but you won't consider giving Colt a couple of games?

Given what little we saw of him in pre-season, it looked like he was pretty quick to pick up enough of the playbook to show he's capable. We should at least give him an opportunity somewhere along the way. I think he was the big sleeper pick of the draft.
