Plaxico shoots himself

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

BURRESS SHOOTS HIMSELF IN THE LEG, ACCIDENTALLY
Posted by Mike Florio on November 29, 2008, 11:05 a.m. EST

Multiple sources tell us that Giants receiver Plaxico Burress has shot himself in the leg.

Apparently, Burress was carrying a loaded gun. And the gun went off.

The incident happened on Friday night/Saturday morning. His condition currently isn’t known.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com also is reporting this one, and he’ll soon have a story up with additional details.

Though at this point the player’s health and well being is the primary concern, what the hell was he doing with a loaded gun?

It also remains to be seen whether he faces charges for carrying the loaded gun, and whether he ultimately encounters scrutiny from the league for violating the Personal Conduct Policy.

UPDATE: Glazer reports that Burress spent the night in the hospital, and that his injuries are not life threatening. Per Glazer, the team is still gathering information regarding the incident.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports Plaxico Burress has shot himself in the leg, accidentally. He's out indefinitely.
ESPN's John Clayton is reporting the incident took place in a club. Plax was reportedly carrying a loaded gun that went off unexpectedly late Friday night or Saturday morning. He spent the night in the hospital, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Random, but JSPB22, you do know that Deadskins is considered an insult to the Redskins, right? Assuming you're a Redskin fan that is.

He is a Redskin Fan among Redskins fans brother. Good to have a sense of humour sometimes.

I'm thinking JSPB22 has been wearing that tag proudly, and if he's a Redskin fan or not really isn't a question. you know wht the say about assuming...

Pierce was with Burress, according to a source, at The Latin Quarter on Lexington Ave. in Manhattan where the shooting took place, though his involvement in the incident wasn’t immediately clear

Jeeze...sorry guys you don't have to jump on me. I was asking a question out of curiosity...

To stay on topic, Plaxico made a pretty dumb mistake. If you're gonna carry a gun around with you at least make sure the safety is on.

The latest is that Pierce attempted to hide the gun somewhere in New Jersey.

I wonder where Coughlin's famous ethics are when he is allowing Pierce to play in this game.

Edit: I love how the media keeps saying Plaxico got shot, like he was the victim of some sort of crime.

When did Plaxico become such a punk? I thought he behaved himself in Pittsburgh and now that he's a Giant he's getting into all kinds of trouble.

Word is this morning he's going to be charged with a felony and if convicted he faces a minimum three and a half year prison sentence.

I'm all for gun ownership but why would you need one in a club? When people are drinking? Apparently he reached for it, accidentally shot himself and a very angry Antonio Pierce (who allegedly yelled at him for bringing a gun in the first place) hid the weapon for him... and he may also be charged with a crime.

Wow, just wow.

Sean Taylor who botched a robbery in his home, was shot, and subesquently died, is NOTHING like some idiot shooting himself in a nightclub. This Darwin nominee shouldn't even be mentioned in the same piece as Sean Taylor.

Or make sure it isn't in condition 1 (bullet in the chamber). Safeties are nice and should always be on but to avoid this he could have:

3. Had the safety on.
2. Not had a bullet in the chamber
1. Not has a gun with him at all!

Do you think Plaxico shot his hamstring to spite his calf? Like maybe he was really pissed at his calf and threatened to harm his hamstring unless his calf started talking and his calf was like "screw you dude" and Plax was all "I'm crazy man, I'll do it" and his calf was like "I'm calling your bluff" and Plax was like BAM! and the calf was like "daaaaaamn, you crazy"? I feel like that is a pretty accurate representation of what probably happened.

 That's pretty close. Although I think it was Antonio Peirce that shot him in the hamstring because he was sick of listening to Plaxico complain about his calf. "Dude, get out there and dance. I mean, enough with the calf already... ... ... BAM .... there, complain about something else, fool."
