Fletcher Hurt...IN A BOOT

Fletcher Wearing a Walking Boot

London Fletcher had to leave the game last night and went to the locker room for some medical attention, but was not listed on the injury report. Well, he's got a walking boot on his left foot today, so I'm guessing he's going to have to show up on the injured list in one capacity or another.

Fletcher said he will be back in the building in a bit, when we should get a chance to chat with him and find out exactly what the problem is. With H.B. Blades already filling in for Marcus Washington on the strong side, and the Skins already very thin at linebacker to begin with, losing Fletcher for any amount of time would be significant (I'd have to think they stand Jason Taylor up at LB a ton and use Blades at middle linebacker should Fletcher miss any time).

Fletcher, 34, is a warrior, and it would take something significant to keep him out, especially with the NFC-leading Giants ahead. Fletcher has played 171 straight games, the second-longest streak.

I saw hiw get up limping late in the 4th quarter... I was wondering what happened... probably ran himself ragged trying to help out Taylor and Blades all day...

Don't knock Blades. He was doing well. I think he caught the RB in the back field on one play. But to fill Fletchers spot I would use Blades. He has trained for that spot for several yrs now.

Nov 24 MLB London Fletcher is questionable for Sunday's game with the Giants after injuring his left foot at Seattle. Fletcher, who ranks sixth among active players with 130 consecutive starts, and right end Andre Carter, who said Sunday that he had slightly torn the plantar fascia in his right foot, had MRI exams on Monday. The results weren't disclosed.

Nov 24 Ryan O'Halloran, of the Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins LB London Fletcher (foot) underwent an MRI exam Monday, Nov. 24 and his status for Week 13 is uncertain. LB H.B. Blades could start the game in Week 13 if Fletcher is unable to play.

I wonder if the Redskins would move Taylor back to right DE if Carter is forced to miss a game or two...

Carter has also played LB. We could move him to LB, H.B. to MLB, and move Tayler back to the right DE.

London has been a beast, not just with his tackles, but with injury. He's never injured. It's hard for me to see him missing a game. If he can, he will play.

If Carter is out, then I think they will put Taylor on the right and have Evans / Wilson / James holding down the left side. If Fletch is out, then I see them using Blades in the middle and Fincher at OLB, also giving Taylor some snaps at LB. Fincher played well in preseason, so I'm curious to see what he can do if given the opportunity.

I had completely forgotten about Fincher. He was a beast in the pre-season. I'm surprised we haven't seen him on the field yet this year.

Yep, I agree, Fincher was rather impressive in preseaon. I think we haven't seen him merely because Rocky and Fletch have been good to go and Blades has been filling in for Marcus. But if both Marcus and Fletch are out this week, we very well may get to see Finch. He could be good at OLB against the Giants run game. I actually believe Blades is better suited inside anyway.

Nov 25 Fletcher had an MRI performed on his foot on Monday which revealed a contusion and sprain, the Washington Post reports.

Recommendation: Fletcher had a significant limp and was wearing a walking boot on Monday. He is day-to-day and has not ruled himself out for Sunday's game.

He will play. I'm sure of it. What scares me is after watching the SEA game again, I noticed how our DT's were getting pushed around like rag dolls... If they can at least hold their ground and let our LB's plug the lanes, we'll be in decent shape.

Nov 26 Ryan O'Halloran, of The Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins LB London Fletcher (foot) missed the team's practice Wednesday, Nov. 26, and hopes to practice by Friday, Nov. 28.

Nov 26 MLB London Fletcher (foot) didn't practice on Wednesday and might miss the first game of his 11-year career on Sunday.
Nov 26 Fletcher (foot) did not practice Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.

Recommendation: Fletcher was one of three Redskins defensive starters unable to practice Wednesday. He has never missed a game in his 11-year career, but is still in a walking boot and will need to recover quickly to keep his 171-game starting streak intact. "If we can't get him on the field by Friday, I think that'd be a problem," coach Jim Zorn said.

According to the Washingtonpost.com

London was out of his boot and was walking without a limp! YAY!

Clinton Portis, Marcus Washington, London Fletcher, Kedric Golston and Andre Carter are not taking part in drills. Cornelius Griffith is doing drills to the side.

Fletcher was not wearing a boot as he walked inside the facility. He also was limping much, much less than on Monday.

London Fletcher (foot) was out of his walking boot Thursday and, according to the Washington Post, wasn't limping much.
Fletcher, who hasn't missed a game in 11 years, should be good for the Skins' Week 13 matchup with the Giants.

London will play. He is the CP of our defense and CP is our London on offense. Just as CP hasn't practiced all week, London may not either but will still play.

Zorn said that Fletcher is still wearing a protective boot and he was unable to take part in any drills today. Zorn said "we'll see" if Fletcher can do anything in terms of practice on Friday, but he did not seem overly optimistic. H.B. Blades has been taking all the snaps with the first-team defense in practice and the focus is on getting him ready.

"We're getting H.B. ready, completely," Zorn said.

Carter is no longer wearing a boot on his injured foot, but is still experiencing discomfort in his arch and is moving "very, very gingerly," according to Zorn. Defensive tackles Cornelius Griffin (shoulder) and Kedric Golston (bone spurs in the ankle) did limited work with trainers as well, while defensive tackle Anthony Montgomery has recovered from his Achilles' injury and is practicing fully.

Well, I guess the first report was bogus. I expect to see lots of HB and Fincher on Sunday.

I don't know where we'll be in the draft, or who is available in free agency, but I really think we need to get younger at linebacker next season. I love Fletcher and Washington but their bodies are just wearing down and they seem to have constant, nagging injuries.

Rocky McIntosh is arguably our most reliable linebacker and he's only 26.

I understand your position on Washington, but Fletcher has not missed a game in 11 years, and leads the team in tackles. I don't get the injury prone tag there. Besides, we already have youthful depth at LB. We have much greater needs to address on both lines.

I can understand your stance on Washington, because he hasn't been a force in more than two years. But Fletcher hasn't been even nicked until this week. He hasn't missed a game as a Redskin, heck he has missed a game as a pro. You can't say the same for McIntosh.

London is getting up there in age and without looking at game film I couldn't tell you if he has lost a step, but he hasn't been as dominant as last year.

We most definately need a new starting SAM because Washington is no longer a difference maker.

Off course we also need OL and DL starters tro replace some of the ones we have (you can argue which needs the most work first my vote is DE followed by DT then RT)

Granted, Fletcher hasn't had as many INT/PD, but he's probably been on the line more. I know I saw him all over the RBs yesterday, so I'm not comfortable saying he's not as dominant as last year. He's been just as reliable and just as important as last year.

How could you even...even question that man. Don't question London. London and CP are two people you can't question. Don't.

Why not?

I didn't say he was playing bad! Maybe, just not as good as some of his previous years in the NFL.

Look my basic response was supporting London and you respond like that!
