The defining moment

Post by SkinFan63 »

I think last nights sad performance, in a game we should have won, in our own stadium, pretty much sums up the 2008 Redskins. Of course, the same could be said about last weeks game as well, but I'll stick with this one because it was a "must win" divisional game. But first, we must go back in time. After beating Dallas in Dallas, then beating Philly in Philly, all of the so called "experts" said the following: "The Redskins now play three teams in a row with one win among them, then have the advantage of having the rest of their division games at home." So the winless Rams beat us, and we struggled but eeked out wins against the losing Browns and the winless Lions. Then the Steelers came to our house and made us look like some catholic nun school team for the blind. Reminded me of last years game against the Patriots, except for the score. Then, all beat up from the lackluster football we'd been playing, we got our bye week.
All rested up, but in no better shape, the so called "Home Advantage" division games started last night with the Cowboys and Tony's pinky.
And Romo's pinky beat us in our own house. Speaking of our own house, has anyone but me noticed that we really have never had "home field advantage" since we left RFK? We win as many or more games on the road then we do at Fed Ex. Besides people like me (a fan of 34 yrs), I really feel sorry for those of you who go to Fed Ex, pay millions for parking, tickets, nachos and beer, stand in long lines, and go thru security checks to watch the Skins lose. Fortunately, it cost me nothing to sit in front of my big flatscreen, and watch them lose in the comfort of my own house.
Speaking of my own house, it seems that every time I watch them at my house, they lose. Kind of like the Skins at Fed Ex. Funny how that works out. Ok, so now what?
We get to go to Zorn's home town and face Seattle. Remember, the team that has knocked us out of the play-offs twice in three years? Fortunately for us, Seattle seems to suck this year, which means they'll probably beat us. Zorns homecoming, I can almost picture it now, we go to Seattle and they kick our ass. There is a small chance we could win....it's an away game. We win quite a few of those. But something tells me this won't be one of those road wins......hopefully, I'm wrong....we'll see.
I can hardly wait for the Giants and Philly to come to town.
Maybe we should hand out more towels. Oh wait, that didn't work!

I hear you, but the Skins should still finish the year 10-6. That may not get us in the playoffs but it would be a start.

Man I hope I am wrong, and will probably get bashed for even typing this for being "Ned Negative" but I see the 'Skins finishing at 9-7 or even 8-8.

oh my i do recall those days at RFK and it was great you said it homefield advantage and we had the teams to back that up as well not some much these dayz...like you i,ve been a fan for 39 years now and alot has changed over the years hasn,t it but then again maybe not at sitting from home watching on the tube.. strange aint it we win on the road early in the season against our division and yet we play teas we should beat but can,t at home or struggle as you mentioned it,s painful to say the least.i can,t imagine the giants coming to town either or philly for that matter cause at the moment they don,t need the torture but we shall see..yeah you also mentioned long lines waiting to get into the stadium to watch the skins play and at least i went to fedex once just to see what the new stadium looked like and felt like and beleive you me it aint no RFK thats for sure. oh yeah by the way i didn,t need any towels at RFK either just our opponents but i guess times have changed hasn,t it...yep it will be zorns homecoming and sundays game will be intersting just like the this season has become .......interesting....will we win who knows at this point but i,m guessing they. better or else but like you i,ll be watching from home....i know it,s very fustrating on us thats for sure..something you and i have in common and that is ...not in our house, :D

I hope you're wrong too, but none of the next six games are gimmes. And even when we had a gimme three weeks ago, we just squeaked by the Lions.

I like to stay upbeat about the team, so I'm not going to start crying about it or anything. At least we're still in this thing. You have to give Zorn credit for coming in as a first year coach and doing what he has done. I would give a lot of credit to the players too. They're not dominating games, but they don't quit either. Its been fun to watch them this season.

Anybody else just REALLY want to beat the snot out of the Giants? Man that would be so nice.

Back in August, I would've been thrilled to go 9-7 or 8-8. I think Jim Zorn summed it up perfect when he said that the Skins were "treading water" We are right there, we just can't push through when we need to.

There was someone on the board that said that the Skins are horrible and that we are a few plays from being 4-6 from all of the bad plays in the past games.

I would argue that we are a stupid brain fart by Pete Kendall against the Rams, a dropped pick 6 from Carlos Rogers against the Steelers, and a dropped ball from Moss last night in the 4th quarter from being 9-1 like the Giants.....We are right there, I am still optimistic about the rest of the season. We have 4 very winnable games (Seahawks, Ravens, Bengals, 49ers) and the way that the Eagles played yesterday, we should beat them. The Giants will be tough, but Portis is healthy and we are going to ride him to the playoffs.

So, what was the -defining moment-???

We are who we think we are.

And we did not let ourselves off the hook!!!

ROTFALMAO
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

The defining moment was last nights loss to the Cowboys in our house.
We are, without doubt, a better team then they are. We are a "TEAM."
We don't have assholes like TO and Romo and Jerry Jones and his hot-tub.
We have a team, and to me, it's absolutely unacceptable to lose to them in our house when we beat them in theirs. I will give Zorn credit, we are ahead of where we at this time last year, but given Zorn's leadership, and the talent level we have, what the #@*%?
If you look at the whole season, and where we're headed, we're not going to the playoffs. And if we did, we'd get eliminated in the first round.
I'm not dissin my team, I think hiring Zorn was the smartest thing Snyder has done in his life. We have priceless weapons.....Portis, Campbell, Moss, Randel El, Cooley, Sellars, Horton, Fletcher, the list goes on and on.
So why are we losing games we should be winning?
Why aren't we scoring 30+ points a game?
Why is Fed Ex field not a home field advantage?
How the hell did we lose to the Rams?
Why the hell is my toilet overflowing?
These players need to earn their money.
If I performed at this level at my job, I'd be unemployeed.
This was a defining moment in our season, and not a positive one.
Does anyone have a plunger?

I was there and I recall 3 moments.

A short (missed) field goal for a 6 point lead after a long drive, a 2nd down throw for a loss in chip shot range and a 3rd down sack.

A shovel pass by Romo after a near sack on 3rd down followed by a go-ahead TD against excellent coverage.

A dropped 3rd down conversion (in the stomach) right before the 4th down gamble.
