The diesel?

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

The diesel?

Post by Deadskins »

I just saw on SportsCenter where Adrian Peterson is now calling himself the diesel. Uh, Adrian, you ever heard of John Riggins? You need to pick a new moniker, bro.

He's not a diesel, though...which shows his ignorance. He's more like a Ferrari, he doesn't go thru people, he cuts around makes 'em miss.
...any given Sunday....

I agree with Vet. I'm a huge Sooners fan and I've watched AP for years. I'd compare him more to a sports car than a truck. That nickname sucks for him.

There are some Volkswagons with diesel engines, so I can handle it. In Riggo's day, 'Diesel' meant big and loud.
Now, it means an expensive fillup. :)

I don't want anyone to think I don't have the utmost respect for AP's talent, but his strengths are speed, agility, and balance more so than power. He is fun to watch, though!

"the best young rb in football"
2-2|0-4|1-2|0-0
home: 3-2
road: 0-6

Since 2000 the Redskins have scored 40 pts 2 times!!!!
12/30/01 @ NO 40-10 W
10/23/05 vs SF 52-17 W
Two 40pt games in a decade?? serious?? cant make up that sad fact!!

I think that "the best rb in football" is more fitting.

I agree wit you guys, if someone said theres a RB in the NFL right now like our "Diesel", Brandon Jacobs would come to my mind first. AP is Barry Sandersish maybe?

Don't leave out Mr Jamaal Lewis. He gives up 20# on Jacobs, but I've watched that man drag people...

Aww man, how in the world could I forget that guy. I was watching that game the other day and he sure was pounding that line hard. He looks line a spin off of Bettis/Riggins.. heck, both of them do now that I think about it. Good call man.

i still think the most amazing run ive seen this year was when the Falcons were playing the Cheifs. and Atlanta was down by their own goal line and they handed the ball off to Michael Turner. And Derrick Johnson(a solid Linebacker for the cheifs) tried to tackle him. And it seemed Turner wasnt even bothered by it and just kept running..

its the first highlight in the video

I'm sorry, even as a young guy born before Riggo's time, there is still only one Diesel. John Riggins, #44. Peterson is a good running back, but not good enough for the moniker "The Diesel."

I dunno what I hate more - The Best RB (or player) in Football or Lovie.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I saw christian okoye make some diesel like runs but never become the actual diesel I am almost certian that whoever wants that name could make some some other name up ( just to save face) and maybe go with blaster or even tow truck. Clinton portis could very well be a good nick name for any awsome running back in the league so long has there doing well..... I just think that nickmanes like that have lost there luster these days as opposed to earlier years, ie. the black curtain for the steelers and the one the vikings had, oh, the g-men and colts are being broadcast this on espn sometime soon billed as the greatest6 game ever played. I hope to see that pretty soon. maybe when the skins make it to the super bowl this season that could happen too.
I love watching and waiting to see what the hecks going on.
god blessed us with # 59 ... go skins
