Uh oh...
Portis is 50/50 to play on Sunday

Clinton Portis is questionable at this point and his chances of facing Dallas on Sunday are "50-50," Coach Jim Zorn said after practice today. Portis has a knee sprain that has worsened since the team last played Nov. 3.

Zorn remains optimistic that Portis will play, but conceded that "it would be a major issue for all of us," if he cannot. Zorn said that second-string back Ladell Betts may be back from his knee injury for Sunday's game, but that he is not "expecting" that result.

No kidding.

I just noticed this as well. If CP is down, we're screwed. TTTB and betts back from an extended absence isn't giving me a warm and fuzzy.
...any given Sunday....

RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

If Portis and Betts are both out - who starts? Alexander or Rock?

Yeah, I think that the Steelers game proved that we have to have Portis leading the way to win. He also can't be our leading receiver. Hopefully, Portis & Moss will be ready to go on Sunday Night.

At least J-taylor, Springs, and DeAngelo will be ready to go for the D. They should help us against a healed Romo.

If he was injured during the Pittsburgh game he should have stayed here for treatment.

The fact that this injury has gotten "worse" over the bye is inexcusable.

The day you can stand up Lance Briggs in a bull rush, perhaps then you can call Portis "Nancy".

Not questioning his toughness, just his sense of responsibility. I believe he knew he was hurt and chose to blow it off so he could get out of town for a few days, rather than get stuck here for treatments. To an extent, thats understandable.

Now, he's had his vacation and, according to Zorn this has gotten worse over the week off, meaning he probably needed treatments.

It's Dallas week and it's time to suck it up, it was a bad decision to leave the trainers if you were injured with such an important upcoming game.

But, alas it's only Monday, I know CP don't like to practice til Thursday, we will have to wait and see, Ill start bitching for real after that.

I know this may be new to us all, but what IF Zorn is pulling a Belichick here? Have you noticed the past few games where important people to our team were "questionable"? And how many of them have ended up playing in the game? This game is HUGE, to both us and the Cowboys. If we can somehow disrupt (even more than it already is) the Cowboys game plan, then we have a shot at getting this Wild Card spot and proving to everyone that Zorn isn't a fluke. I think Zorn knows what he's doing and he's doing it well. HAIL!

Ahem. If I may...you mean an Allen or a Gibbs, right? The Redskin coaching staff practically created the ruse.
Anyway, Zorn seems too upfront. I read somewhere that they had to tie him up so that he didn't spill his whole playbook on the NFL Network.
You can be too open and too honest, you know.

Just reading the full article on the WP today.

As Washington resumed its work at Redskins Park, excitement about the acquisition of Hall, who signed a one-year deal Friday, was tempered by Portis's unclear status because of a knee sprain that has worsened since the team's last game, a 23-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 3.

How can a knee sprain get worse over two weeks? That makes no sense at all.

This is really frustrating news coming off the bye week.

I wonder if this is the tendinitis he had in the offseason. Tendinitis comes back, and may never go away. And a knee sprain, could have made it flare up. That would explain why it got worse.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

You may be right. I'm definitely not claiming to be any kind of medical expert.

Who knows really. Maybe this is just a little bit of gamesmanship to psych Dallas out? Let them think they're facing a 60% CP on Sunday night.

I'm still confused about who starts Sunday if both Portis and Betts are out though. Rock or SA?

I'm pretty confident Portis will play, but not so sure we need him to beat Dallas. Cooley and Moss have been the Cowboy killers of late, not Clinton. Yes he gives us another very effective weapon, but I think we can still take them, even with TTTB carrying the load.

Look,I love CP as much as anyone but, If he was injured in the Pittsburgh game giving it his all, what the hell was he doing in Miami instead of being at Redskins park for treatment?

I'm not looking to do anything but, take the info at hand.
Zorn said the Knee sprain got worse over the bye,not during the game.
Does that happen if he's here getting treatment for it, maybe, but doubt it.

Am I assuming the worst is happening, yep, we were told CP had a 50/50 shot at playing, fair assumption. Would his shot have been better with a week and a half of treatment, yep, fair assumption.
Do I expect to see him practice by Thursday or Friday, given his track record YES, again thats a fair assumption.

I was worried about this on Wednesday of last week when it was reported all players were gone. Clearly there should have been guys there for treatments.

Vacation is the Pro-Bowl and off season, the bye is for getting healthy, did we do the best we could have? who blew it?
