imrovement rankings

According to this we are the 4th most improved team. I disagree I think we are the most if one would count coaching staff. We have the best head coach and o-line coach, and one of the best defensive coordinator. With Taylor our secondary was upgraded durasticely. Cutting Trooter and Armstead and brining in Barrow and Washington upgraded our LB drasically. Griffin and Noble back upgraded our dt. With Daniels we have a run stopping De. I know our d-line needs work but it is still improved. Guess what I haven't even mentioned Offensive personal yet. With Portis we have gone from having the wrost RB to a top 5, which will help the D also. Depth at Qb, we have a good blocking TE and got a H-back that Gibbs will devolop into a top 5 TE in the league if not this year than a couple down the road. Bugel coaching the O-line that is basically could be a wrost to first story right there. What do you all Skins fans think? Detriot could be better personel improvement but including coaching no way.

Agreed. I would even argue that our personnel moves (draft plus trades and free agents) is better than anyone. Then add the coaching staff and there is simply no contest.

What has not been given enough consideration is the overall change in offensive philosophy.

SOS had a "fun & gun" pass happy offense that I never thought would work well in the NFC east (brutal weather and all), which turned out to be the case.

Now you hear the O linemen releived that this "new" offense will commit to the run a lot more, and allow them grind the opponent into the ground.

So this, in of itself, will greatly improve the team's chances for a good run at the playoffs.
HAIL GIBBS' FROM SO CAL. MAY HE BRING THE TOUGHNESS AND PROFESSIONALISM THAT WE HAVE BEEN LACKING!!

Just curious - who ranked above us? The article didn't link... and I'm too cheap to get "Insider" :0).

I'm guessing the Eagles are up there. Detroit and New England???

You don't need the insider just hit nfl and go to clayton. The teams were Falcons at no.3 which I don't understand at all, Raidrs at No. 2 Another one, and Lions at No. 1 which I can see but I don't think they had as good of a draft as everyone says they did. Don't get me wrong I love Roy Williams but I don't think Kevin Jones is that good. Good point about the offensive philosphy too RedskinMark.

I would agree with those rankings except that the Raiders brought in a lot of old players to a team that was already old. What are they trying to do, start the Senior NFL?

Especially if you include coaches that wouldn't make the greatest of sense. Most everyone (even the Skins haters on ESPN) believe that we have made great personell moves, perhaps even the best. They just criticize how that will look this fall.

But look at the coaching changes with the top 4 teams (minus the Falcons), and we've got them beat pretty badly if you ask me. I mean, come on, Gibbs is going to be the next Gibbs.

I can see Detroit getting a very good rating. They picked up three very good players in the draft. They have a very good coach. Joey has now been surrounded with talent. So I can respect them being ahead of us. But I can't see why the Raiders or Atlanta are ahead of us. I read his reasons why, but I can't agree that what they did for their team was better then what we did for our team.

I'd much rather be left OFF the radar screen for now. There is already enough hype and expectation hanging over Redskins Park to last the whole year. Let them write articles about other teams while Joe figures out how to beat them.

The Patriots had a great off season. I think Dillon will be a stud in that offense. Plus they had a very solid draft. They're much improved and they didn't need very much. I agree with the Lions. The Raiders? OK, they got Washington and Sapp up front - I guess they had a decent draft. I think Gallery is pretty good - but not the second coming of Boselli. The Falcons? Not sure I get that one either... I guess they're just happy that Reeves is out?

Having Vick for a whole season turns the Falcons from bottom-feeders into playoff contenders. I'm not sure I agree with their ranking, but I understand it...

Spoken like a true "Spurrier" ;)
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.
