My First Trip to DC
Hey all, I am obviously new to the board, but have been lurking for quite some time. I am a life ling Skins fan, and am making my first trip to DC this weekend for the Monday night game against the Steelers. I am coming with 3 other buddies and we are staying at the Comfort Inn in Capitol Heights. We get in on Sunday and I am looking for recommendations on a good place to have a good time Sunday night, some sort of sports bar to watch the Sunday night game ( A place with female scenery would be nice!). Also, are there bars around the stadium to drink before the game? Is there good tailgating?
Any info will be appreciated. We are 4 guys, about 30, looking to have a good time.
Thanks in advance!

I really can't come up with a sports-bar type place near where you're staying. But for food choices, the best close option is probably The Boulevard at Capital Centre:

Haven't been to too many of the stand-alone restaurants but the restaurant row is OK, especially the Five Guys.
I know you'd want to watch Sunday games -- the standalones might have a bar area with TVs (especially the steak joints).

Yea I was gonna say the same thing.. Capital Heights isn't the safest place to be but like any other place you just have to be cautious. There are some strip clubs in the Lanham area which isn't very far.. are you guys driving by chance..if so that'll give you guys waaaay more options. Let me know and if so I'll research it for ya!
palces to go

There are several good places in Georgetown but according to your profile and your friends', I recommend:
Champions
1206 Wisconsin Ave. NW
Washington, DC
202-965-5555
Enjoy!

True but give the guy a break. It is probably the -only- affordable hotel in DC.
The hotel also has a reputation of its own among some unusual members of government(s).

I say good choice given your reasoning. The Game is always more important man, that's why you went for a visit. Just cab it to G'town and cab it back bro.

I hope you guys have a great time here, I'll be at the game but I don't know the section yet. When I find out I'll post and maybe we can have a beer together during halftime or something.

Greetings fellow Skins fans!! I too am attending my first NFL game as well as my first game at Fedex Field. I have a few questions for you veterans. Feel free to answer any of these questions so I can have an awesome time at the game!
1. I see from the redskins.com that the parking lots will open at 4:30. Can I arrive earlier than that and wait for entrance? I'm very exciting as you can imagine and I would like to get there earlier. Also, I have a green lot pass. Is there a good lot to park in that will allow for a quicker exit? I don't mind walking a good distance to the stadium if I can get out a little quicker.
2. Where are the tunnels located where the Steelers and Skins will be coming from the locker rooms? I'm hoping to get some pictures of both teams while they are warming up.
3. Are there any places inside the stadium that will interest me such as shops or displays like the Super Bowl trophies and where are they located?
4. I also saw on redskins.com that you cannot take any bags into the stadium. They gave examples like backpacks, duffelbags, and briefcases. Can I take in a clear plastic bag to hold my camera, binoculars, etc.?
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Hey Dizzle26, welcome to the site.
If you haven't already, make sure you check out the site rules and the main site.
1. yes, you can wait in line on Arena Dr. before the lots open. People start lining up there a couple hours prior to lots opening.
2. I sit in sect 106 which is right next to the Skins tunnel. The visiting team's tunnel would be on same endzone, opposite side.
3. Many places of interest inside stadium. They have a Redskins store. I am not sure about the SB trophys. I believe they are kept at Redskins Park, the training facility.
4. They would probably allow a clear plastic bag to hold your accessories, but I am not too sure.
Enjoy the game. Remember, be LOUD on defense and quiet on offense. Enjoy!!!

Hey Dizzle, I hope this isn't too late to help.
Over the past several years I've parked in every green lot there is and I am loyal to the one on Arena. I usually stay to the left and turn into the very last entrance. Easy in and easy out. The worst for me was the green lot off of Central Ave. Took an hour and 45 minutes to get out after a MNF game.
You should be fine with the clear bag.
