Michigan
I just wanted to say to the people who wanted Rich Rodriguez, that I told u so. The guy is a trader to his own alma mater now he is bringing down a once proud School in Michigan. My advice get rid of him now before it gets worse. Soon you will be hearing about students getting in trouble with the law. Just wait and see. Should have never let go of Lloyd Carr.

Tuesday Morning Quaterback on ESPN.com had an intresting take on Rich Rodriguez and Nick Saben in his colum this week

Weasel Watch: Alabama is clearly happy with Little Nicky Saban, the coaching weasel of 2006. But remember, Tide faithful, TMQ's law of weasel coaches: When you hire a coach who's only in it for himself, you get a coach who's only in it for himself. Now let's check the coaching weasels of 2007, Bobby Petrino and Rich Rodriguez, who are a combined 5-7. Michigan is listing in the water at 2-4 despite playing five of those six at home, and just lost to the Toledo Rockets. (Needless to say, last autumn Michigan lost at home to Appalachian State.) Arkansas is bailing fast at 3-3, helped by the gift of playing Auburn a few days after Tuberville made the brilliant move of firing his offensive coordinator in the middle of the season. Will the weasels of 2007 finish with a combined winning record? TMQ doubts it.
If Terrelle Pryor was choosing now, the University of Toledo would be more attractive than the University of Michigan.
Checking my time machine (patent pending), I found this news story from 2010:
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 16, 2010. (ESPN-CBS-Google-Bank-of-America-SmithGlaxoKline News Service.) University of Michigan supporters were crushed today after the Wolverines lost at home to Middlebury College, the first-ever defeat for Michigan by a Division III program. Middlebury's F. Worthington Cartwright III rushed for six touchdowns as the visitors bested the home team 45-3.
Michigan coach Rich Kotite called the loss "a major disappointment." He added, "We will look at film and figure out how Middlebury was able to shut down our exciting new A11 offense."
Last year, Michigan lost at home to East Stroudsburg, the Wolverines' first-ever defeat by a Division II team. Lane Kiffin, who was coach of the Wolverines in 2009, said at the time, "We will look at film and figure out how East Stroudsburg was able to shut down our exciting new single wing offense."
In other news, former Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, out of football for the past two years, was hired as a public-relations specialist by the Department of American International Group. AIG was once a privately held insurance company. Since late 2008 it has been a federally subsidized agency; all Americans pay $100 per month directly to AIG to support bonuses and luxury-resort weekends for AIG executives. The Department of AIG called Rodriguez "a perfect fit for our program."
Bruce has the authority. When Bruce makes the decision, it's a Redskins decision.

I just do not see it working out. The sooner Michigan realizes it the better. What recruits are going to want to come now? Just the hardcore faithful will.
The way they are playing now will turn off some of the top prospects that may have come.
I just think the coach lacks character. Saban may be a bigger weasel but he is a weasel and everyone knows it including him.
The difference between Rodriguez and Saban is this. Rodriguez is waiting for players to fit his so called system.
Saban on the other hand takes the talent he has and implements a system which suits the players he already has. Much better coach in my opinion.

This is absurd. We lost the #1 passer in our history, the #1 rusher in our history, the #1 pick in the NFL draft (neither of the above) and the majority of the rest of the O line, out top two receivers, our top four tacklers. We changed systems and lost another starting O Lineman and our drop back heir apparent QB. We now have reshuffled O line, two freshman QBs neither a spread QB and rookies playing prominent roles at RB and WR. In a totally new system with new players you declare it a bust in 6 games? If you disagree with Rodriguez just say so, but don't make out like the first few transition games prove his career here would be a bust. You can't really rate a coach until their first own recruited team is in place, which is going to be in YEAR 6 since year one is not a single of his own recruits for his own system. Declaring him a bust in GAME 6 without a single of his own players and the massive losses we had from last year? Just silly.

Ok I dont like Rodriguez. I am not putting down Michigan I like Michigan which is why I dont like Rodriguez. I dont think a guy like him should be coaching a proud school like Michigan.
Your point about losing players is a moot one though. Schools lose players all the time. Schools bring in new coaches as well and have had decent seasons.
Yes its premature to declare him a bust. But , I think we already have a taste of whats to come. I hope I am wrong but I guess we will just have to see.
I come from the old school when Michigan was whooping everyones butt. To see them like this just does not seem right. Notre Dame sucks, Nebraska, Miami, Florida St. ? What in the world is going on these days.
You know better just as well as anyone here, win the Ohio St. game and then all is well. I will have a change of heart if he can rally them to take out Ohio St. That would be plenty proof for me.

I know you're a Michigan fan, herohamo, I'm not questioning that. We've discussed before. And if you "like" Rodriguez or not personally is your call. But you need to actually watch some of the games and you'll see how patently ridiculous this quote is. Our QB's are freshmen, they suck, and they were recruited for a DIFFERENT SYSTEM, and NOT by Rodriguez. Best RB is good but a Freshman, our O-Line's inexperienced and with injuries is being reshuffled and we have little experience at WR. Making the sweeping statement it happens teams don't suck right away is irrelevant. It is clear in this case Lloyd left Rodriguez NOTHING on offense. There is no possible way you could watch Michigan's offense knowing the background of what Rodriguez got again not by him or for his system and believe this year says ANYTHING about the future. The D's decent, but the O is continually hanging them out to dry. Frankly that such a crappy, freshman QB like Threet has been OK for some spells of time is a pretty good indication Rodriguez has some ability to coach players who suck.
Again, QB, a redshirt Freshman transfer drop back QB and a WALK-ON freshman. Neither of these guys were ever meant to play in a game much less start one. And you combine that with losing our QB, RB, top 2 receivers, top O lineman and top FOUR tacklers on D and just say some coaches don't suck the first year. Just say you hate Rodriguez's guts and stop, don't make the absurd and frankly ignorant statement any conclusion can be drawn from 6 games with what Lloyd left him.

These are tough times for the wolverines.
Anyhow I did see some spark of life out of the team against Penn State. All though the gave up the game in the second half they did look better.
Anyhow I still dont like Rodriguez. Ill give the guy two years we will see. Im not holding my breath but we will see if he can turn this thing around.

Two years is better then 6 games, but that still means most of the team and all the upper classmen are Lloyd recruited for a different system. If you were a college coach, would you feel a team of your own Freshman and Sophmores and someone else's (again for a DIFFERENT system) Juniors and Seniors would be a fair evalution? Frankly if you want a fairer one, consider his success at West Virginia and go to Rivals and look at his recruits and you'll see a lot more stars in his current Michigan class then you'll see he got in his years in West Virginia.

Well Rodriguez will get the talent. Yes there are alot of young players on the team as well. I still feel we should see some signs of life. More positive signs then bad ones. So far Ive seen alot of bad games, but yes they are young and inexperienced. I sure hope I am wrong and Rodriguez can make a success of this all.

Like going to the second half against the #3 team in the country and leading another ranked team the next week in the 3rd quarter? Threet SUCKS. That we hung in those games with a freshman who sucks is awesome. And are you aware we have two of the top 8 QBs in the country verbally committed for next year? Two guys who actually play the spread? That we have some good freshman WRs and a good freshman RB is more bonus.
