The last two weeks the Eagles and the Rams have been able to shutdown Santana Moss by double teaming him. They have been able to do this because we only have 2 viable WR threats in Moss and Randle El. I am very worried about the lack of production from the rest of are Wr's, specifically Thomas, Kelly (I understand he has been hurt) and Thrash.
Is Devin Thomas going to step up? If we could just get a few catches each game from him, about 15-20 per the season then opposing teams will have to account for him.
Also more production from Kelly, Thomas, and or Thrash will help open things up more for Moss, Randle El and ey. If none of these guys are able to step up I am worried that it will continue to hinder are offense.
I agree completely with what Chris Luva Luva said. As a Michigan State Alum, I follow the team very closely and last year Devin Thomas was a beast. He has the playmaking skills to be a great player and an explosive weapon. He can take a short slant pass or bubble screen pass and take it to the house just like Moss can but he can also get separation from corners and be a solid deep threat option. He has great hands and pretty good speed, and he is very athletic. He is not afraid to go over the middle either. I am hopeful that very soon he will be able to contribute consistently. I also think we need to try to throw the fade to him in the redzone. He has a sick vertical.
I am just waiting for him to a break out game. Does anyone know the latest news on Kelly and his knee? (I know he had to have it drained 2 times last week) I just hope we do not have to end up putting him on the IR.

How can you address the receiving corps and leave our most reliable receiver out of the equation? I know WR was specified, but ey is not your run of the mill TE and to leave him out of the receiving corps assessment is not looking at all the tools available.
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.
Missed it skimming, my bad . Just as we can use Moss to get the others opened up, we cna use ey to get Moss opened up, too. It's happened once this year during the Cowboys game.

We could've gotten DeSean Jackson (picked right after Fred Davis) and gotten a good WR and PR in one pick... and we would still have Devin Thomas as well. We probably could've gotten Davis at the Kelly pick too.
I'm going to take a wait and see approach. If none of these guys produce after 3 years then I will have an opinion but its not like any of them were top 10 picks here.

My thoughts precisely, none of these were reach picks
Maybe our WR's production the last game might have been better if the O Line pass protection hadn't been in such a funk. Sonny always said that it's hard to complete a pass when you are sitting on your butt. Right, Welch?
They were good in the rushing game, but even Coach JZ said there was "miscommunication" on their pass blocking assignments. Included in this is the quandry of the choice of Heyer vs. Jansen.
IMO if Portis keeps running like he does then the Skins will be just fine. All we need to do is take care of the football. Rookie wideouts usually have a tough time adjusting to the NFL...with a couple of exceptions.
As for our PR...I'd love to see anyone back there returning kicks besides ARE...and Pete Kendall of course.

Just saying
Seriously? DeSean Jackson?
The last thing we needed was another 5'10" speed WR...

What exactly has Fred Davis done this season? About as much as Thomas and Kelly. Has he even been active for any games?
I saw him this past week. He's been active in at least two games since he didn't catch anything last week. Just throwing him out there as an option. Okay, we have ey and Yoder, is that better?

I agree about wanting more production from ARE but it always seems as soon as he gets the ball he has a ton of guys on top of him. I think they need to work on the ST blocking to open some holes up for him

Moss is opening up other WR's they just aren't that good... When ARE is catching the ball, he's decent. Thrash falls off the radar and then will give you an explosive game. Thrash should be our 4th/5th WR under the best circumstances.
We need to get guys in there that can catch the freaking ball.
- Maybe Zorn will think about using Fred Davis as the 4th WR from time to time.
- Hopefully Thomas will get his head on straight and give the coach a reason to give him more of a role.
- Hopefully Jason will work with Thomas and work to get him the ball when he's in as a way to give positive feedback.
