S.Taylor with the 3rd string?

Post by Natural born Redskin »

Is anyone concerned about S.Taylor playing with the 3rd string :?: I know he is a rookie but he was suppose to be the safest pick in the draft. B.K.(Our TE) was a back-up in Atlanta and is gaining age but still got our top pick on a one on one  Before the draft every article basically said that he is a sure starter. It looks like Portis might be S.O.L. when it comes to getting his #26 back if Taylor remains with the 3rd stringers.

Just scared of a "BUST" that's all. There just wasn't enough said about Taylor in the practice sessions to believe that he can help cover Shockney, Owens, K. Johnson. I just know Cooley got a whole bunch of praises and he was our 3rd round pick.

Are you serious???? He's been in the NFL for a week & his contract still isn't signed. There is a huge speed adjustment from college to the NFL. Give the guy a chance!

There's no concern at all. You can't judge things after the first real mini-camp.
The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.

If he is still 3rd string in late August then I might get concerned but not now. He is still trying to just get thru the playbook - cut him some slack. :D

In my best chicken little voice...

"I said, I said, I said... the sky is falling."

As already stated... if Sean Taylor is still with the third unit at the end of training camp, it might warrant discussion.

Until then, it's just the dog days of the off-season. ::sigh::
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

'Nuff said on this topic, I think. Let's wait until the young man signs his contract and has the benefit of a full-training camp...with a bunch of hung-over HOGS.NET supporters yelling at him each day.

Yeah this was bothering me all weekend. I'm glad mini-camp is over, because I couldn't get any sleep at all. I just kept thinking, "WHAT IN THE HELL IS SEAN TAYLOR DOING WITH THE THIRD STRING?????!!!!!??????"

No one should be worried. Taylor is learning the playbook and earning his spot on the first team...as it should be when a rookie is competing for a starting spot. He'll be fine.

Mini Camp

Post by fleetus »

Yeah, and Tom Tupa shanked his 3rd punt during practice. Man, I don't know what we're gonna do if he shanks every 3rd punt this year! He'll average like 25 yards a punt! I thought he was supposed to be a solid veteran! Our season is ruined!

Sean Taylor is digesting like 230+ pages of pro defensive schemes brought on by Gregg "Madman" Williams - of course he is gonna be third string behind players like Ohalete, Bowen, Franz and Lott who have been there and went through the first mini camp... it is a matter of respect that the kids who haven't shown one thing on an NFL field be relegated to second or third string till they can prove that they are worth starting time.

Taylor will probably show it faster than most, and most of the articles I read lean that way. I wouldn't be surprised if he was second string by the next mini camp and second string then moved up to starter by the end of the first week of training camp.

Of course this depends on his at home work ethic... and that was my largest concern... I just pray he hits the books as hard as he can and gets these schemes down pat... then we can see him blossom

Guy's this is mini-camp! You must be joking too! Oh and last year EVERY punt was shanked, so 1 out of 3 is a 66% improvement. I'll take it!

Cliff Russel is a bust....lol. Wasn't he supposed to be faster than are beloved D. Green...which IMO isn't that impressive because the poor man was pushing darn near 80 years of age. LOL. D. GREEN FOREVER!!

Anyway, Taylor is just getting broken in easily, allowing him to play with the scrubs to ease him into the speed increase gradually.

LOL - who the heck knows... he might not be a bust... but we wouldn't know from SoS' regime. The man didn't have the ability to communicate an idea to anyone, which is part of the problem he had.

I still think Jacobs and Russell have more talent in them than was EVER explored by the Stumble 'n Bumble offensive genius.

Just my opinion, mind ya...

This is his first mini camp wih us. He still has to learn the whole playbook. As soon as he knows it he is a starter.

gibbs must have forgotten how to scout out good talent....

"NOT !!!!!!!!" :P

taylor has to earn his spot ..
gibbs wont just give it to him...

my opinion is that he will earn the spot in short order

Skins are going to kick some major booty this year and im going to love every second of it !!!!
