Game ball Portis rushed for 145 yards and the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Redskins rolled up 204 yards on the ground against the Eagles' top-ranked rush defense. Philadelphia had allowed a total of 215 rushing yards in its first four games
Its actually pretty awesome to see a skat back turn into a power back I dont think I have ever seen that and to see that big run he had was purely legs and the the game winning run was the same power. GO CP!

He really has adapted his game these last few seasons and shown that he's a true team player and winner...

Did I miss something? When was Portis ever a skat back?
When he was rushing for 1,500 during each of his first two years in Denver? When he was grinding out 1,300-plus in Gibbs' archaic ground scheme in his first year in DC?
Where are all the fans who said Clinton was washed up?
Where are the fans that can't understand how a passing game opens up running lanes? Those are the same fans who don't understand how a pass rush makes it easier to cover WR's...
Shock and awe!!!! We have a consistent passing offense and CP's YPC average goes up to his Denver days. WOAH Mind = blown!

It also helps when we hold the ball 32-38 minutes every game...
In all 4 wins, we never had the ball less than 32 minutes. In the los to the Giants, we had the ball 25 minutes.
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!
GSPODS:
The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.
You know, after the 4th and 1 play with less than 3 minutes to go - I stated unequivocally that Portis' fourth down run was my FAVORITE CP run in a Redskin uniform.
... and that was before I even knew that CP had basically called the play himself. (Check out this video on NFL.com)
The dude just got in behind the o-line and drove his legs until he had the yardage and the Redskins had the game. Pure power football, and from a three receiver set. Since some of you only like to notice the odd occasion that Casey Rabach makes a mistake, you might want to look at whose butt Clinton got behind... Rabach and Thomas just blasted the Eagles three yards down field.
That was TEXTBOOK running.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
I heard Zorn mention that in the post-game conference, he (Zorn) sent in the formation but CP called the play. The man has been my favorite current Redskin since he arrived here and he's never done a thing to make me regret that.

Facing a fourth and one with 2:48 remaining in the game, the Redskins went for the first down and it was Portis that was entrusted to seal the game.
"I'm telling you all it was Clinton Portis," Zorn said. "He called the play. I called the formation and how I wanted it set up, but he called the play. And as we ran the play he willed his way for the first down.
"I had a great view of his grit and the offensive line's grit on that play. And he made it. He called it and he ran it and he got it. And that was a huge, huge play in the football game."
For Portis, the call made sense -- the natural choice for an offense that had kept the Eagles guessing all game long. But his coach's decision to take his star's advice was yet another example of the faith he had shown in his team throughout the game.
"He set it up throughout the season, and we'd been throwing the ball on short yardage, so just to keep the defense on their feet," Portis said. "I said, 'Coach, I think it'd be a great play.' He [just] looked at me."
"I didn't know he was going to call it and then we got in the huddle, [quarterback] Jason [Campbell] called the play," Portis said.
"So I knew [Coach] believed in me and I had to get those two yards."
Seriously...these guys will play their hearts out for Zorn, because he trusts them. That's incredible.

Nice call coach Clinton! I didn't notice Rabach because it was so many bodies but good deal, seemed like Kendall, ey, Davis blocked well too...hell the whole offense even Moss.

Hey, welcome DC Brave, glad to have you join us. Check out the main page, loads of cool stuff there, and take a brief moment to review the site rules for posting.
There were flashes in that game that took me back to the good old days of Riggo, Riggs and Byner running the ball here, I suppose you would call em flashbacks. The O-line did an outstanding job against VERY physical defenses the past 2 weeks. The notion of putting Heyer back in for Jansen is crazy to me. OK maybe, and I mean maybe he pass protects better but, no way in hell is he the run blocker Jansen is.
WAY TO GO DIRTBAGS!!! (still cant get used to that)
Now on to CP, physical, violent, a certain arrogance on the field and kind of a goofball off the field. Remind you of anybody?
Excellent vision yesterday, good patience and im with you Bosshog on the 4th and one play, Man! that took me back. There was one play earlier than that, where he absolutely trucked a tackle in the 2gap that caused me to spill my beer too, then he took off into the secondary for a big gain.
Whoever heard of a westcoast system with this kind of a smashmouth run game? I mean SF had Roger Craig, who in my opinion had one of the most beautiful running styles to watch, low pads, high knees mulchin arms and legs like a wood chipper, but he was too undersized to be leaned on and was used much like philly uses Westbrook, Seattle was in a weak division so they dont count. Can you guys think of one? I cant.
Yeah Clinton is a banger, its all attitude, the O-line is developing that same attiude too. Were about to witness something special here boys, that 4th and 1 was just the beginning.

Flashbacks... yeah, had 'em here, too... but not Riggo, Riggs, or Byner... I saw Larry Brown. The entire second half of tough games, dude would move the ball on will power alone. That's what I saw in the 4th quarter yesterday... moving piles by force of will...
Beautiful.

I'd have to say Tampa Bay under Gruden, especially in 2002, but you can argue our offense right now is better.
Of course, it's better... how many WCO's have had Joe Bugel running the o-line???? You got Bugel... you get smash mouth. This is the NFC East... it's supposed to be brutal.

BH is exactly right tho - on that play, you can see Portis' legs just digging and pushing - I just love to see that desire.
I know about all the stories about who called the play and everything BUT when you have players playing with that sort of desire, no matter what position - you cannot lose with players like that.
To me the biggest difference this year is a bunch of players on the field just trying to do their job a little bit better - this applies to everything from Suisham's kickoffs, to 'teams plays, to a bunch of tacklers around the ball and the offensive line pushing the line of scrimmage back on almost every play - just a lot of fun to watch
GO SKINS
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I don't ever remember him being a skat back.
Nor do I. He's never had the BIG body but he's always been a power runner. One cut and go. Power, speed, with a dash of make-ya-miss. CP. Is. Money.
