Crazy Ray Vs. Chief Zee

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Crazy Ray Vs. Chief Zee

Something was missing in this fight

IRVING – Chief Zee walked out of Texas Stadium with a win, but it was far from a completely satisfying experience for the Redskins' most famous fan/unofficial mascot.

He didn't get the chance to rub it in Crazy Ray's face.

Zema "Chief Zee" Williams and Wilford "Crazy Ray" Jones were legendary foils, hamming it for the fans by chasing each other around and engaging in faux fisticuffs. They were symbols of the bitter rivalry between the Cowboys and Redskins. And they were good friends.

"It's empty without Crazy Ray," Chief Zee said of Texas Stadium, the site of Crazy Ray's memorial service, where Chief Zee took off his headdress and put on a cowboy hat. "I miss Ray so much. It's just not the same; it won't ever be the same. Ray was the best."

Cowboys mascot Rowdy tried to fill the void by mixing it up with Chief Zee. Rowdy celebrated like he won the bout, but I'd give Chief Zee the decision, even though his heart wasn't in the fight.

If Rowdy really got the upper hand, a couple of Hogettes seated nearby surely would have jumped in, perhaps pounding Rowdy's foam head with their purses.
