Will we beat Dallas?

Post by Deadskins »

I hognosticate a victory for the 'Skins every week, but for some reason I really think we will win this game. Maybe it's a trap game for them, maybe someone makes a game changing play, I don't know. But I want to go on the record as having predicted a win. I'm sure none of the "experts" will pick us to win, but who here thinks Dallas can be beaten?

I've got no prediction except that the Redskins are improving. And that's good.

We were in good position to win this game last year. Hopefully we will make it a little more difficult for TO and be able to pull it off. This would be a HUGE win.

I don't know this is going to be tough, I didn't vote, because I have a feeling we can win, but beating Dallas at Dallas is going to be really tough.

I"d be lying if I said I feel sure about us winning, lol. I will hope for the best and by best I mean continued improvement and success which doesn't necessarily have to be a win.

I think we go in there, keep it close, score when needed, then a last second FG to win. This is a division game, we will kick their arse.

I would love to win. I really would but I think we are going to get blown out. I think with Taylor being out and so many guys banged up, we don't stand much of a chance. Also, we won this week and something tells me we are getting a bit of a big head.

I don't know though. Its tough. Maybe I am just preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

I don't see how we could be getting that big of a head when all anyone is talking about is how good the other 3 teams in our division are.

If anything we have something to prove to show we are just as good as the rest of the division.

I am going with the Skins win a squeaker. I hope a blowout happens but we will see. I say Skins win with a last second field goal.

Most of this matchup hinges on the Redskins defense:

Taylor being out may not be such a big deal. Even if he had not gotten injured on Sunday he still was not 100% coming into the AZ game, which means he wouldn't have had his top-end speed to beat Dallas' massive O-linemen. He would've been neutralized at the line of scrimmage and would've been a target for Barber to run at all game. Whoever his replacement is will have less pass-rushing ability, but will be stronger at the point of attack against Barber. The D-line will primarily be asked to hold its own on contain and prevent gashing runs up the middle, not generate pressure.

I think Blache will coach the game of his young coordinating career, and will bring pressure in the form of McIntosh, Chris Wilson as a outside rush LB, and Chris Horton/Reed Doughty from the safety position to rattle Romo and force early throws and turnovers. This type of pressure will keep Romo off balance and will convert the major strength of Dallas' offensive line (size) into a weakness.

In the secondary, Landry will intimidate TO with early, physical play and will be available to double Witten on occasion. Horton should be in on passing downs to take away the deep middle routes that TO feasted on last year. Rogers, building on last week's strong performance, will give less than 12 yards of cushion and will defend a few passes, maybe even get another pick as Romo loses patience and floats a ball into double or triple coverage.

If the offense can play ball control, turn redzone possessions into TDs, and take advantage of Dallas' weak-but-vastly-overrated secondary, the Redskins could shock the world.

Let's just say, I hope the Redskins absolutely embarrass Dallas, but I'm certainly not betting any money on this game.

I am hoping for a win. Going against Dallas in Dallas is a tall, tall order. The Redskins can win but it will not be a low-out on our part, it will be a squeker.

Honestly, you can't expect to win in Dallas (I expect the Skins to win in DC, but away in the NFC East is just tough).

I'll be happy with a good game. A win would just be beautiful.

Homers!!! hahah. I can't believe 60% believe we're going to win this weekend.

I guess we can be optimistic at 2-1. :)

You're absolutely correct. We all know that upsets simply never happen in the NFL. The "better" team, the home team, and the favorite always win. I guess that's why Vegas takes a bath during every NFL season; just imagine how much money the poor casinos lose every week because NFL outcomes are essentially predetermined.
Heck, why even bother to watch the games?

If Campbell continues on his current path, and continues to make plays down field, the Redskins have a good chance of beating the Cowboys.

Philly moved the ball at will against this team and should have won. Their defense just couldn't contain the Cowboy offense. Our defense is better than Philly, and so are our weapons on offense, so I think it's unreasonable to assume we can't beat both of them.

The NFC east is the toughest division in the NFL right now, and Skins are being overshadowed by the Cowboys, Eagles and Giants, and getting very little credit for how well Zorn has this team playing. The Cowboys have weaknesses in the secondary, and I think we have the weapons to exploit them if Campbell continues playing at his current level.

This is Campbell's grand opportunity to get his first win against the Cowboys, andI think he will.

I agree. There is always a part of me that thinks we will win every game but the Pukes are really good, its their house, they hate us as much as we hate them. However if Landry can pop T.O. Like ST used to do we can take him out of the game.

Who knows, any given Sunday I guess but I am preparing to get blown out.

Uh...much as I like our defense, I think I'd have to disagree here. Philly is 1st against the run...and had nine sacks against the Steelers last week. NINE. When's the last time you can remember the Redskins getting nine sacks in a game?

For that matter, when was the last time the Redskins had nine sacks in two games? Three games? It'd be nice if it would happen this weekend. I certainly wouldn't wait for it with baited breath ...

It's a divisional rivalry. These games are almost always close. The Boys can be had, and we're riding some momentum. So yes, I think we win this one (of course, I pretty much think that every week; that will never change). Late TD pass JC to Cooley does in the Boys.

I'm sure Philly would agree with you...and many others also. But the Philly has played the Rams (suck) and the Steelers are struggling on offense (winning 10-6 against the Browns) and putting up 6 on Philly. On the other hand, Philly couldn't stop the Cowboys at all.

As for the sacks....how many did they have against the Boys? Zero.

Don't get me wrong, Philly's defense is pretty stout, but they can be slapped around as proven by the Cowgirsls 41 points.

Now if the Cowgirsl score 42 on us (God forbid), then I'd be forced to reconsider my position.
