McIntosh is coming around

Post by tribeofjudah »

In Sunday’s 24-17 win over Arizona at FedExField, McIntosh may have played his best game as a Redskin.

Statistically, he led Greg Blache’s defense with 10 tackles.

He also forced running back Edgerrin James into a fumble recovered by Carlos Rogers in the first quarter and combined with Andre Carter to sack Kurt Warner with just under 11 minutes left in the game.

The week before, when the Redskins outscored New Orleans 29-24, McIntosh forced a fumble by Jeremy Shockey and in the Sept. 4 opener versus at the Meadowlands he posted eight tackles.

He may be rounding into shape at just the right time.

Certainly, he’ll be tested next week when matched up, as the flow of the game dictates, versus Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten.

He may become a stellar player for the Skins.

As I've pointed out many times in the Reed Doughty thread, it was Reed not Rocky that forced the James' fumble. But Rocky did have an excellent game nonetheless.

I thought Mark Brunell caused that fumble.

All mark caused was a humble (as in humble pie for Pie fans on those two hook-ups with Santana)

I will agree that Rocky is showing great strides with his play but I also will point out that this defense is starting to play together very well overall - there have been a number of players this year that are playing much better than we saw last year, and that was a pretty good group too - this could be a very good group for us this year. I am sure that we will be adding some defensive players in the early rounds of the coming draft as well.

btw - as humbles go, that was a really big one  I would love for history to reapeat itself, just one more time - GO SKINS
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

It seemed like he was around the ball a lot this weekend. Good to see! Didn't he have a sack too?

He's just doing what he did last year before he got hurt - more than validate his selection in the draft. He just needs to stay on the field. He's a good all around linebacker; fills, blitzes, covers well. That draft class was to OLB's what the Elway, Marino, Kelly class was to QB's. Hawk, Sims, Greenway, Ryans, and McIntosh all came out of that class, not to mention the pukes took Bobby Carpenter, who is a bust.

I personally don't think he is coming around. I always thought he was this good, what worried me was his injury history. I always thought he played well when he went in. What worries me about him is his injury history.

Totally agree. He was playing well last year prior to the injury. I also have had concerns with his history of injuries. He was seriously hurt at Miami and then hurt again last year, which causes concern; but when healthy, he has always been a very good player.

I'll say like I've said the whole time. I like McIntosh, but it's his shelf life I worry about. I have no doubt his talents, when on the field, make the skins a batter team. It's his degenerative condition that's been noted more than a few times that I worry about. McIntosh will prob be the next jersey I get unless I get my hands on a Horton jersey 1st.

McIntosh has a degenerative condition? Seriosuly I haven't heard.

I was joking about the bust thing. I think he's a great linebacker, I didn't know there was anything wrong with him.

All of the above. It's a batter team, not a batter individual.

I was just thinking about that game the other day. Brings a smile to your face. One the of best Skins victories I've ever watched. Wasn't there some sort of 'reunion' of old Cowf**ks that night?
