Empty seats at Fedex

Post by SKINS#1 »

I believe the Redskin fans are the most loyal and there are several reasons for the empty seats. First, if you are a winner the fan base grows and the #2 attraction is playing exciting football. I know defense wins ball games but I am not interested in watching a team that can not score 10+ in most games. I enjoyed the Redskins, even though they didn't win championships when Sonny was the QB because they could at least make the game interesting.

I hope todays game was an indication of things to come, then you will see a full stadium.

I can't speak about this game, because I sold my season tickets for the year, but, I will say that in the past, it gets down right brutal in the lower level. I'm sure it was oppressively hot. Many people are there, just not in the seats.

My brother, who was there, did tell me that when the Skins were down by 9 the stadium started to empty.

Moss is getting behind people again. Did it against the giants last week but slowed down for no apparent reason. El (passing game anyway)and Cooley looked good as well. JC was accurate and maneuvred well in the pocket. You can have a big windup if you can anticipate pressure. El should be banned from punt return, Horton should start. Props to Cerrato on Horton and Moore. All the safeties went late cuz the analysts wrote the whole class off, which seems preposterous. Malcolm Kelly is averaging a first down every play.

great win. and i don't like to harp on the negatives...but we need to get better at finishing drives. suisham should not have that many FG attempts. but the game was a lot of fun to watch.

I'm dissapointed NONE of the highlights albeit on the web or nfl network or espn NONE show the critical 4th and 2 pass to santanna, I thought that was a gutsy call one that I doubt Gibbs and Co. would've called (Gibbs would've punted) so it was two gutsy calls 1. not to punt 2. to throw the quick slant and it looked like a pretty smooth catch which I apreciate having played WR in high school. Can anyone find any vid of that play?

Very gutsy call on 4th and 2. A lot of fans around me were calling for a field goal but no way can you attempt that from what 52yrds out? Wasn't even to seal the deal. I admit I was calling for the punt, but they converted it. Love the aggressive play calling..

Fact:

Clinton Portis has never failed to score on any carry during which he holds onto Mike Sellers' jersey while following him through the hole.

Today was an important step in the right direction. It was tough to gauge our performance last week because, well, it was only one game, and it was a game against the defending champions. After seeing the team play this week, I feel much better. I think we're very much middle of the pack right now. Considering our talent and all the transitions we are making, I think middle of the pack is about where we should be.

It was nice to see the offense getting the ball to our playmakers. Moss and Cooley were much more involved this week.

The offense needs to do a better job of finishing. I was really nervous after the first half. If you have been a Redskin fan over the last few years, you know the sense that I am talking about: That sense that we are going to play it close right up to the end and then find a way to lose. It was nice to see the offense put up some points in the second half.

The defense played well as a unit. We got pressure, we stopped the run, and we made some big plays.

Hail Redskins.

That was an AWESOME game. The offense was clicking and the defense played well and got some takeaways on an offense that can move the ball and has the potential to score a lot of points.

I am concerned with the kicking game though. Punt return for a TD and the botched field goal. I know it didn't cost us THIS game, but it needs to improve.

The thing about this victory I liked the most is that the team had to come back to win. That shows me that there isn't any panic and team is buying into what the coaches are selling.

Now, we can look forward to the Cardinals coming to town and heading back out west with their first loss.

It's a step in the right direction but there is still room for improvement and now it needs to be consistent, especially on offense. The offense has some momentum and a little confidence now so it's time for them to strike while the iron is hot. Arizona is a good opponent to build on that confidence.

Some of my observations:

1. Anyone notice on the play when rocky forced Shockey to fumble and then held him on the ground so he couldn't get the ball? Genius!

2. Horton was in the right spot at the right time and that helped him have a big day. Regardless of that fact, he still caught the ball/picked up the ball which is something we have had a lot of problems with.

3. Landry- Didn't hear his name much besides the two pass deflections which means he is doing his job.

4. J. Campbell- This is the game I have been waiting for from him. Adjustments were made and he looked a lot more comfortable in the pocket. Too bad I didn't start him in my fantasy league :(

5. Zorn- Good 1st win for the man. Those who have questioned Zorn's commitment/desire obviously needs to go back and watch him on the sideline. I thought the play calling was superb and is a stark contrast to last week. He took the robot out of Campbell and replaced him with a play making machine.

6. Portis- Ran as hard as I've ever seen him run. If he continues to average 90yds a game then he will have 1440yds at the end of the year.

7. Winning cures everything. Winning the way we did will boost Campbell's confidence and the confidence that the rest of the team has in coming back to win games.

There's really nothing new to add in recapping the game. I think we've all covered it. Great game, and I'm pulling for Horton at least to get some significant playing time this year.

I've been a proponent of Horton getting some additional playing time since that first preseason game, but I do feel for Reed... everyone was saying how he had such a great week of practice, and working his butt off every day... and let's face it, Horton didin't create any o those turnovers, but he took advantage of the situation and finished those plays, which we've had a hard time with in the past...

I'll say that even if we didn't win yesterday I'd be talking about the progression that the offense had made.

It's good to see progression and that makes this thing not feel like an effort in futility. We're moving along and that's what we/they need.

I am a fan for the best players to get on the field. At the time, I thought Doughty was the best. I've also been a large Horton supporter this pre-season. He's had a nose for the ball since he's worn the burgandy and gold and we need that. On the flip side, Doughty looked good in week 1 I thought. I think that both of these guys still have a lot of growing to do and both can contribute significantly to the success of the defense. One game is too early to get a warm and fuzzy on any player.

I don't think we need to worry about who's gonna be starting beside Landry because it seems they're gonna be sub'n them in and out anyways. I'm on the rookie's bandwagon but either way (Reed or him) is good for me. Seems like they corrected everything I griped about last week including Cooley blocking, JC running away from the defense instead of towards them..LOL.

Our defense stills needs help though, we gave up 24 points regardless and we had to come back. Damn I hate having to come back, I want the lead and to stick wit it.

Actually subtract the 7 points that ARE gave up and you're looking at another awesome performance by the defense.

I'm simply cannot fault them for having to come back on the field seconds after they left and with their backs to the wall...

Actually, the special teams unit gave up 14 points yesterday....!
