Since I started following football, I have always heard that in order to be successful, you have to be able to run the ball and to stop the run. Both of these ingredients we have. No, we don't have a DE that will get to the QB in seconds or a bull-rushing DT, but we do have adequate run-stoppers, if I am not mistaken. Something else that will help the defense is an offense that uses both facets of the game, not just the fun 'n gun. Ball control will be greatly improved this year with Portis and will give our defense a rest. We also now have a veteran QB in Brunell that will run an efficient offense, (not that last years inefficiencies were all Ramsey's fault). All of this combined, I am confident that our season will be one of much happiness. Any thoughts???
you had forgotten the most important thing. Joe Gibbs. he will and has demanded respect from day 1. but our offense will only be successful only if the o line is. they r the backbone of the offensive system without them being healthy we will have another year in which we will see our qb on the ground more than he is standing up
The Oline will be fine, and really, more than that. You will see 6-8 man blocking schemes under Gibbs and Bugel rather than the pathetic 5 man schemes from last year.
Gibbs routinely counts on the ability of a QB to find one of two WR in a pattern with 8 men in maximum protection rather than Spurrier's 5 WR out and 5 men blocking.
You'll see a difference.

I bow to that whose course is run
I know last year wasn't great, and our team was especially weak in the 4th quarter all year long. Competition isn't what it was a few years ago. The Skins are going to be better, be in better shape and have a better coach. Add to that, the talent level has improved. Once the Skins taste a little momentum and learn how to win - we'll enjoy some success.
The RedSkins will be successful because are defense will get a break for once as someone previously stated. Our D wasn't completely horrible but I believe we broke down in the 4th qtr so much because they were tired. SS's offense turned the ball over so much on 3 and outs that our defense was playing the whole game. We lost a lot of close ones because of that. Our D should be fine this season.
our Dline is a terrible and it will hamper our ability to win games, lets just hope the O scores forty points a game and cooley is an above average TE/H back
our best defense is a good offense, doesn't matter who's playing defense if you're offense is always going 3 downs and out.our d will be better with the new coridinator.joe gibbs play calling will be a big key to both offense and defense.is training camp here....YET!!!REDSKINZ4EVER!!!!
our offense, defense, special teams...all three areas will be much improved, not just because of player moves, but because we now have a coaching staff that is second to none.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.
12-4 WOW!!!!!!!that would be great but i think you might be asking a little to much out of mr.gibbs in his first year back.just have to wait and see.GO SKINS!!!!REDSKINZ4EVER!!!!!
