....for saying the Panthers game was a prelude to how the regular season is going to look. How many of you are with me now when I say this team will be lucky to go 4-12? This team is absolutely pathetic.

And there still hasn't been a regular season snap played, so this thread serves absolutely no purpose as far as I can tell.

Hmm. I'm not sure I see where anyone who didn't agree with you after one preseason loss is going to agree after a second one.

So you a thread to validate another thread that you started that happens to only be 4 spaces below?

http://www.thehogs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27555

You really could have stated this in that thread, especially since you're asking the same question...

Even considering the fact that it was still a pre-season game, Zorn wanted the offense to get a couple of good drives going to start the game to get over the Panthers game hang-over. It didn't happen. In fact the starting offense looked worse than it has any time in recent history. You've got to be blind if you saw anything positive from this game.

No. They looked much worse last week. The line played much better last night. Campbell hit his receivers, but they dropped several balls, including the INT. The 1st string D didn't even take the field, yet the second stringers played the Jags' first team fairly well. Yes I would have preferred a better game, but I'm still not ready to say we will suck in the regular season.

We sat TWELVE starters.

I'm not for one minute saying that it means the team will be 'great' in the regular season, I'm just saying that THIS preseason game was even MORE useless to gauge anything off of, simply because of the guys sat.

CB 22 C.Rogers
CB 24 S.Springs
RB 26 C.Portis
CB 27 F.Smoot
S 30 L.Landry

CB 34 B.Westbrook
LB 50 K.Campbell
LB 52 R.McIntosh
LB/DE 55 J.Taylor
LB 59 L.Fletcher

T 71 T.Wade
T 76 J.Jansen
WR 82 A.Randle El
DT 96 C.Griffin
DE 99 A.Carter

This game was used to help evaluate talent for the depth of our roster - while I'm not happy with the outcome of the game, I'm actually happy that at leat 12 of our 22 starters weren't going to get needlessly injured in a USELESS LAST PRESEASON GAME.

And for the record, NOBODY made fun of you, though they are perfectly capable and PERMITTED to take the things that you POST to task.

You're saying having your post mocked that a pre-season game that doesn't count where the starters played a half has now been validated by a pre-season game that doesn't count where the starters played 3 series? :hmm:

BTW, even if we blow in the season it doesn't prove your contention. If I flip a coin and it's heads and I flip it again and it's heads, does that prove the first heads led to the second? Anyway, you're right that we looked bad the last two weeks and it's concerning. The point is you're reading way, way too much and drawing way, way too large of conclusions from it.

At least give the team until the 8th game to make a decision. Then we will have seen 8 games of the 1st team. If it is still as bad as the last 2 games, we have cuase to worry. Actually, the Redskins should be 2 good wins, 1 lucky win (should have lost) and 2 bad losses for the pre-season. Kind of evens out!

Yeah, I'm concerned. Week 1 v. the Giants is looking a little daunting.

I'm most concerned about the D right now. I know we've been resting some starters, but these past two games just haven't been good.

Our offense has struggled for a while now, nothing new there. D is going to have to step it up next week.

Yeah, but only two on offense. Losing two starters to injury during the course of a 16 game season isn't unlikely.

Also, was that the Jags' second-string defense out there against most of our starting offense? If so I'd say 3 series for 14 yards and an interception is certainly reason for concern.

Three... Jansen, Portis and ARE...

No Betts, no Cartwright... so I guess if your contention is that if we lose our top 3 RBs, we're in trouble, you won't get any argument from me.

And you sure aren't going to hear me sing about our awesome depth everywhere, so I actually agree that we've shown that our depth is suspect.

But personally I think its prudent to worry about injuries AFTER they happen, not before, and I don't see any reason to throw up a panic button about ANY preseason occurrence.

Well that's not true - the ONLY preseason occurrence that makes me wince is serious injuries.

Sitting 12 of your guys is a good way to limit that.

I can live with embarassing preseason performances, if the end result is that we can go into the games that matter relatively healthy and needing to find some form.

No, the Jags played their starters on both sides of the ball.

I don't see it that way. Calling someone's post idiotic is the same as calling the poster an idiot. Besides, if you can't take someone's post to task without resorting to name calling (even if it is name calling of only the post), you aren't much of a task taker.

Who's "with you" that the Redskins will "be lucky to go 4-12?"

If the Redskins go 4-12, it won't be luck. It will be lack of skill.
Why would anyone expect members of a Redskins message board to jump on a "Start looking to the offseason" post when the current season hasn't started yet?

Post that garbage in a Dallas or a Philly forum. I'm sure the whole place will agree, not because it's true, but because they wouldn't know the difference and hope the Redskins go 4-12. Misery loves company, but it won't find any here.

Everyone does and says idiotic things and only most people are idiots, so there is clearly a delta even if to your point it's highly correlated. Still, room for doubt...

If you're a pessimist what's your purpose for even calling yourself a fan? If you want a surefire winner every damn year just go be a Patriots or Colts fan. It's really disgusting all the negativity I've seen around this forum the past few weeks. We as fans root for our team regardless. If we go 4-12 I'll be there watching every second. If we go 12-4 I'll be there watching every second. I am a fan through the thick or thin. I will cheer for my team and wish them the best. I'm never going to stop supporting my team because I am a true fan. Sure it doesn't look good so far, but isn't that why we're fans? To cheer on our team and support them with every move they make. So please, if you don't want to look on the bright side of things and just make comments on how horrible this team is going to be, then don't associate yourself with the Washington Redskins or our fan base. We don't want or need "fans" like you.
