Jansen
So I was watching Redskins Nation a few days ago on Comcast Sports Net and Jon Jansen was in the booth with Larry Michael. So Michael asks him how he feels and what stage of his career he thinks he's in and I was pretty shocked to hear that Jansen thinks he's still in his prime and he has 6-7 great years left in him. What do you guys think about this...? I love Jansen but I think that was a really bold statement..
I happen to think he has at least four to five great years left. Even though injuries are a bad thing, it did give him time to rest up over the past couple years. He must feel refreshed sitting out this past season and a half. So I am happy to hear that from him.

He must be feeling pretty good to say that. It was such a freak accident last year. He was a rock through most of his days in college and the pros, here's to his getting back to being "The Rock."
Hail to the Redskins!

No not at all, I love Jon Jansen and respect him and appreciate what he's done for the Redskins. I was just a little surprised how he said it with all seriousness. I mean the man has to know he's not as good as he used to be and I mean that with no insult, he's getting up there in age and lineman usually start to diminish in their early-mid thirties. He's already 32 years old.
Jansen, as long as I remember has been extremely optimistic about the skins. I remember him verbally sparing with another player on some pre-season show and as they were separated he was like “I’ll see you at the super bowl”. It was either coach Spurrier’s time or the first year of Gibbs II. The guy starts every pre-season believing the skins are going to the super bowl. With that attitude it doesn’t surprise me that he thinks he can play 6-7 more great years.
What surprises me is that the preseason has been very quiet regarding his come back from injury. Is he back to near pro-bowl form?

Go Skins!!!

32 is still prime time area for a significant portion of the o-lineman. He very well could have that many years. Granted, he's taken some hideous injuries, but you can't really consider last year against the abuse against his body. His ankle may have lost time, but the rest of his body rested.

If this preseason and ESPECIALLY tonight is an indication of the season, then I want to replace Jansen and the rest of the line with people who know how to block.
New system or not, it's almost impossible to learn how to keep your huge body in front of a d-lineman without getting thrown over every five snaps. My boy Samuels got PUNISHED.
6-7 GREAT years? How about 1 GOOD game this year?
The whole line has looked horrible this preseason, even in our first three games. They have me worried the most out of anything plauging us tonight.

WOW Jake I think that may be the first time I seen you say something negative about your boy...I love Chris but he has always struggled with speed guys...I personally watched Simeon Rice and Jared Allen make him look like a very average T. Peppers is healty this year...he has looked great in pre-season good news for the Pathers

As much as I love him, I can't defend him on that play. Peppers made him look like a cardboard standup that just got bowled over. I couldn't believe it. It's just an indication of our starting o-line this preseason. NONE of our starting line has looked good AT ALL this preseason. They have me worried.

That's a joke. Jansen hasn't been "great" for a while now. I'll take average/good from him at this point.
Suck and Luck

He certainly has been a rock. I think the first few games will knock some rust off then he will be good to go.
Jansen is not really my concern though. I want to see if Randy THomas returns to form. Also will Heyer show some improvement over last year. He did well for a rookie now I want to see him improve upon that.

You can't jsut step in from IR and perform to your normal level, it's just not going to happen. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. There's also a mental rehab he's got to go thru. I don't know if you recall what his ankle looked like, but that's enough to make anyone doubt themselves until they test it. Couple that with the achilles he had previously, I think the man's got the right to come back slowly. If it were that easy, they wouldn't be getting paid as much as they do and people like US would be out there.
This is not a rant blindly supporting him, but give the man time to knock the rust off. Practice is not going to get his confidence back, playing time will.

Well said, and not by the guy with Jansen in his user name.
