While it's certainly true that Thrash is getting praised and the rookies dogged, a logical conclusion would be:

- Zorn is dogging the rookies
- Because, the rookies came to camp "out of shape" (in an NFL sense)
- So, the Rookies better step up or they'll be riding pine until they do.
- Which opens some playing time for Thrash who's been busting his butt in camp (as he always does all the time)

I'm sure that Zorn's specifically calling them out because he's peeved. I don't think he's calling them out because he's already written them off, he just wants to ratchet up his expectations of them and he wants that very, very clear to them. I'd say mission accomplished.

While Thrash appears to have impressed enough to get some playing time beyond returning and covering kicks, it would be pretty unlikely he's going to seriously diminish the playing time of 2nd round picks if they're ready to go.

Absolutely agree. I suspect that Zorn's primary goal is to light a fire beneath the youngsters, and that part of that is pointing out that hard work counts, that attitude counts, and that Thrash is a model for that. "You want to play soon for my team? Pay attention to what this man does."

It seems to me that Zorn may be the one guy who knows how to use Thrash, youre going to see many more instances this year where there are 3 and 4 recievers on the field at once
Ive got thrash penciled in between 40 and 50 catches this year and right around 500 yds. I dont expect Zorn to lean that heavily on the rookies this year, but theyll get some too, barring injury to the top 3.

I think Zorn is saying " hey, you rookies, look at this guy, see how he practices, see how he prepares? If you wanna be good, be like that.

The battle is for the 6th and final spot and chances are, if one of the remaining incumbents can establish himself on special teams, they may make the squad... and Mix showed last year that he can contribute on teams - so he's my pick for the 6th spot. I agree that McMullen has won the job so far in terms of play, but not by much over Mix.

We're talking about a guy coming in when ALL THREE of our starting receivers have gone down. In my opinion, the team would go out and grab a veteran from somewhere in that instance anyway. How well the 'sixth' performs on ST may actually be MORE important than their impact at WR.

If one of the rookies (Thomas & Kelly) continues to struggle with injury, it's conceivable that he gets 'relegated' to the IR and that opens up another spot.

im guessing that mix gets the sixth spot becuase he is good on special teams and Zorn has been talking about using him in the offense since he got the HC job.

The 6th WR will be inactive unless someone gets injured. The decision is likely to be based on perceived potential.
