While it's certainly true that Thrash is getting praised and the rookies dogged, a logical conclusion would be:
- Zorn is dogging the rookies
- Because, the rookies came to camp "out of shape" (in an NFL sense)
- So, the Rookies better step up or they'll be riding pine until they do.
- Which opens some playing time for Thrash who's been busting his butt in camp (as he always does all the time)
I'm sure that Zorn's specifically calling them out because he's peeved. I don't think he's calling them out because he's already written them off, he just wants to ratchet up his expectations of them and he wants that very, very clear to them. I'd say mission accomplished.
While Thrash appears to have impressed enough to get some playing time beyond returning and covering kicks, it would be pretty unlikely he's going to seriously diminish the playing time of 2nd round picks if they're ready to go.
