Linebacker Jessie Armstead said yesterday that he and other veterans likely will call a players-only meeting this week to discuss the club's propensity for penalties.
"It's getting to a point where we're all going to have to get together because it's hard enough beating teams in this league [without] beating yourself also," he said. "That's probably the hardest thing in this league, not beating yourself." . . .
Quarterback Patrick Ramsey aggravated his sprained left shoulder during the loss to the Eagles but said he expects to play on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at FedEx Field. Reserve tailback Ladell Betts suffered a sprained shoulder but indicated that he, too, will play. . . .
Defensive end Regan Upshaw said he thinks that Eagles tackle Jon Runyan did some acting to draw a key personal-foul penalty on Upshaw during the fourth quarter Sunday.
"I might have gotten a little overzealous on that," Upshaw said. "He got a little extra shove, and I shoved him back. I didn't think he was going to fall like that. He's one of the dirtiest guys in the league, plus I think he might have just faked it on that one. I mean, I didn't hit him that hard."
