Guess Who Else Hates Cowboy Fans

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Guess Who Else Hates Cowboy Fans

Post by GSPODS »

The Arizona Cardinals are trying to "protect the nest." This means they'd like University of Phoenix Stadium to continue to sell out, and to do so with as few opposing fans as possible.

In the past two seasons, there was little concern about this since the team sold out every home game. But with ticket sales a bit slower as the third season approaches, the Cardinals are requiring fans who want to buy tickets to the Dallas game on Oct. 12 to also buy tickets for the Aug. 7 exhibition opener vs. New Orleans. Cardinals fans have "created a decisive home-field advantage" the past two years, and the team wants to keep it that way by discouraging single-game ticket sales to Dallas Cowboys fans, team spokesman Mark Dalton said.

"Our goal is to have as few Cowboy fans in the stadium as possible," Dalton said.

So I guess they like losing revenue. Dallas creates a lot of revenue for other teams. Its like when the Yankees or the Red Sox come to town.

Except that they stated their goal is to sell out, meaning there would be no impact on revenue. They may not accomplish that goal but clearly they aren't so stupid as to "like losing revenue."

What type of requirement is that? I have to buy 2 tickets to see one game? Please... The only thing this is accomplishing is reducing the attendence of real Cardinal fans. Not all of us have money for 2 home games a year. Thats like saying, If you want to see The Dark Knight you have to purchase a ticket to Ma ma Mia. Your kidding right?

I'm not really certain how asking Cow :puke: fans to buy another ticket somehow results in lost revenue for the Cardinals, or how that's even relevant to the point we are discussing. You said this plan represents some bizarre choice on their part to sacrifice revenue, I was making the point that said idea is not, in fact, part of their plan.

Hey TexasCowboy, so you ARE still here. Anyway, I have to agree with you at least partly on this. There is usually something good about everything if you try hard enough to see it. When the Cowboys come to town, there is a nice economic boost for the local crack dealers and prostitutes, and that doesn't even count Cowboy fans...

This idea would work if the organization can somehow figure out who is a Dallas fan and who is a Cardinals upon purchase. Unfortunately, this is not possible. So what do they do, attack the majority of their fans to deter Dallas fans from purchasing tickets. A smart owner would never do that. Which is Why Dallas and Washington make the most money in the league.

They have obviously made the judgment that this will have little impact on attendance, and are willing to do it to ensure that home field advantage remains home field advantage, that the amount of Cowpuke blue in the stands stays... well... minimal. They have assumed (with some good reason) that most Cowpuke fans would not choose to purchase 2 tickets to see the Cardinals, while many Cardinal fans would not so object.

You may not like it, but then, that's your call.

Besides, as any student of marketing can tell you, encouraging a rabid Cardinals fan base will be FAR more profitable to the franchise in the long run then any short-term loss in revenue from visiting fans.
