0-60 in about 4 seconds. Company exec. do not have large salaries, just doing their part to making electric car more mainstream. Plans of having it made with solar panels are upcoming.

I've heard about this car a few years ago. Now, watch for it on a road near you!

The sound of the engine is 1/2 the fun of driving the car. Who cares if it performs if it sounds like an elevator.

There is nothing like the sound of a big block Chevy with tuned exhaust.

Totally understand! But that could be a weekend car. Nothing will take the place of the feeling you get from that big block Chevy, but that's why we should have options.

You're right.....a big beefy engine sounds fantastic. This car is really super fast, though..... Ferrari and Porsche can't keep up....

In a previous past life of the company I worked for, we sold a neural network search tool in various forms, and we talked to GM about working with them in much the way the Sync works with Ford. During those talks, we talked a little about the hydrogen fuel cell cars and one of the things they mentioned is that missing the sound of an engine was a drawback. They mentioned that the possibility of adding a control panel was being discussed that, not only would allow you to turn on engine noise, but it had also been discussed that maybe a selector switch might be an option so you could select a kind of engine sound.

I don't work for GM and that company has since split off into it's own company, so I have no idea if that's still being discussed or whatever, but I thought it was a cool idea. Incidentally, they also talked about having removable and interchangable bodies, so that one could purchase the fuel cell chassis and a sports body and a truck body, and the same car could then be swapped from sports car to truck when one needed to of garbage to the dump or whatever. Kinda cool.

Of course their best song was a re-make. I had the album though. It was pretty good. Not in my top rotation with musical juggernauts like Poison, Warrant and Skid Row, though.

Never heard of Nikola Tesla ? Is that actually even possible?

Did Edison really do that masterful a job of quashing the genius?

Tesla developed the use of alternate current in the late 1800's. He actually worked for Edison but left BECAUSE of the AC vs DC 'current war'... he went and worked for Westinghouse.

Edison's drive to suppress Tesla and AC power was so strong that he publicly electrocuted animals to show "that alternating current was more dangerous than Edison's system of direct current." Heck, Edison even tried to coin the phrase 'Westinghoused' for electrocuted.

Edison was a demagogue. Despite his attempts, the world uses mostly AC current systems today - proving that Edison was no better than an oil cartel quashing technology for the sake of a bottom line.

As for the band Tesla, I'm pretty sure they actually had a song called 'Edison's Medicine' on one of their albums that was actually about the 'current wars'.

This concludes today's edition of 'A Chapter in American History from a Canadian".
