WR Marcus Monk

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

WR Marcus Monk

Post by BearSkins »

Bears picked him up in the 7th round - is he any relation to Art? Couldn't see anything online so highly doubt it but just wondered if the football brainiacs here might know.

Thanks. Was hoping we'd gotten a winner based purely on the gene pool.... Oh well.

Don't give up on Marcus Monk just yet.
He's one of the late rounders I was hoping the Redskins would look at before they drafted two receivers in the second round.

I don't think it matters. From my read, he is a class act, and he will prove to be one of the biggest steals of the draft, despite not being related. He gets to be his own Monk!

Yeah, the Bears picked up a couple of guys like Monk in the later rounds who may well prove to be steals. We'll see how it all pans out 2 or 3 years from now. Right now, it looks like the Bears had a similarly productive draft to the Skins but we shall wait and see if potential transfers into reality or not.

No relation to Art. Still a great, great kid. In the seventh, I was praying we'd get him. He is going to make an impact somewhere

Coming out of school, he was valedictorian at Lepanto High School. He also was one of four National Football Foundation Scholar-Athletes of the Year. As a BBall player, I just remember him dunking everything and going in beast mode and destroying Jamaal Anderson(Falcon #8 Overall Pick)in the playoffs. Got tons of offers in both BBall and football, but chose Arkansas anyways.

I think he owns all the Arkansas receiving records. He usually was double teamed by everyone all his four years with sucky WRs at all the other spots. Never had a good quarterback(His best one was Matt Jones.). he was a beast in the red zone. He played basketball his frosh year, got playing time as the best defender on the team in the last few minutes, but quit to play football only.

No idea how he dropped that far. I guarantee that guy is a beast with a real coach and QB. Bears got the steal of the draft.

Man, this is just whetting my appetite - I can't wait to see him and Earl Bennett in action.
